VADA D. TRANUM
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Vada D. Tranum, age 88, formerly of 184 W. Fairview St., Piedmont, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, where she had been a resident.
Born on April 26, 1909, in Kitzmiller, Md., she was the daughter of the late David and Ida May (Keller) Downey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Tranum, in 1976; and by a step daughter, Dorothy M. Grove.
Mrs. Tranum was retired from the Mineral County School System as a cafeteria worker. She was a past member of the former Rebekah Lodge of Westernport.
Mrs. Tranum is survived by one son, Donald Tranum, Westernport; one grandson, Paul Tranum and wife, Janine, Westernport; three great-grandchildren; and three step grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral services will be conducted there on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steffan Carr officiating.
GREGORY B. WISE
KEYSER, W.Va. - Gregory Baxter Wise, 57, of Route 1, Box 99, Keyser, died May 15, 1999, at his home after a long illness.
Born Oct. 10, 1941, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Charles Conrad Wise, Harrisonburg, Va., and Ruth Miles (Baxter) Wise, Alexandria, Va. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Conrad 'Terry' Wise III.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Pamela (Eric) Wise, to whom he has been married
since 1969; a daughter, Hannah Wise, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, Jacob Benjamin Wise, Blacksburg, Va., and Thomas Houchen Wise, Keyser; and one sister, Jennifer Wise, Boulder, Mont.
Mr. Wise attended The American University in Washington, D.C., before receiving his piano technician certificate from North Bennett Street Industrial School, Boston, Mass., in 1968.
Mr. Wise was a piano technician and had previously been a singer in Washington, D.C., having sung for 17 years in the choir of the Washington Episcopal Cathedral with five years as an alto soloist. He had been a member of the Washington Opera Society, the Lyric Theatre of Washington, D.C., and had performed locally in numerous musical roles over many years.
He was a member of the Cumberland Astronomy Club, the Cumberland Soaring Group, the Loyal Order of Lizards, and he was an enthusiastic motorcyclist.
At Greg's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial services will be held at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 301 S. Mineral St., Keyser, on May 22, 1999, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jud Pealer officiating, and at the Top Field at sunset (8:27 p.m.).
In lieu of flowers any contributions may be made to the Leonard G. Withers Music Scholarship Fund, Potomac State College Alumni Office, Keyser, or to the Cumberland Astronomy Club / Alvan Clark Telescope Restoration Fund, c/o Connie Sutton, Route 1, Box 98, Keyser, WV 26726.

MARSHALL L. WHITE
WILEY FORD, W.Va. - Marshall Lee White, 51, of Wiley Ford, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born April 12, 1948, in Cumberland, he was the son of Gladys (Newman) Kilmer and stepfather, Delmar Kilmer, Cumberland. He also was preceded in death by his father, Marshall White, and one brother, George Edward White.
Mr. White was retired from the Department of Juvenile Justice System, Green Ridge, Md., after 22 years of service, and was a former employee of the Town and Country and Grant's Department Stores. He was a member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren and the Cresaptown Eagles Aerie #2883. He was a U.S. Marines Corps veteran having served in Vietnam. He was active with the Little League Baseball and Football teams in the Wiley Ford area.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, surviving are his wife Charlotte A. (Kline) White; three sons, Andrew Lee White, Aaron Lynn White and Adam Lee White, all at home; one stepbrother, Donald Kilmer, Troy, N.Y.; two stepsisters, Constance Lain, Ca., and Gladys Miller and husband Homer, Centerville, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Linda Burgess and husband Chester, Flintstone, Md.; one brother-in-law, Richard Lynn Kline and wife Diana, Short Gap; two uncles, William Newman and wife Joanne, and Robert Newman and wife Dorothy, all of Cumberland; father-in-law, William Kline and wife Linda, Romney, W.Va.; mother-in-law, Ilene Bridges and husband Wes, Cumberland; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Cresaptown Eagles will conduct a memorial service Friday at 7:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Benny R. Brakeall officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Andrew White, Aaron White, Adam White, Sean Gillaspie, Steve Northcraft, Gary Carpenter, Jim Wilson and Sam Harman.

GERALDINE SMALL
CALDWELL, W.Va. - Geraldine Small, age 78, formerly of Westernport, Md., and Paw Paw, W.Va., died April 27, 1999, at her son's home in Caldwell.
She was born in Piedmont, Sept. 6, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Ross Baughman and Anna (Dorsey) Baughman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Small, who died Oct. 8, 1997. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, William and Robert Eugene.
She was a graduate of Bruce High School. She was Presbyterian by faith.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Dennis Small and wife, Hazel, Caldwell, Stephen Small and wife, Teresa, Morgantown; two daughters, Anna Marie Hogbin, Martinsburg, Patricia Humphrey and husband, James, Evanston, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Fr. Jim Hannon officiating.
Pallbearers will be Stephen, Dennis, Jeff and David Small, Edward 'Ted' Hogbin, and James 'Bud' Humphrey.
STANLEY E. TROUTMAN
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Stanley Ellis Troutman, 90, of Fort Ashby, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at his residence.
Born March 30, 1908, in Fort Ashby, he was the son of the late Shannon and Mary (Skelley) Troutman.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Hazel Irene (Alkire) Troutman, in 1996.
Mr. Troutman was retired from the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory, where he had been a machinist.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, James 'Jim' Troutman, and fiancee, Carol Kenney, and Larry E. Troutman and wife, Rita Nelson, all of Fort Ashby; three grandchildren, Sharon E. Sibley and husband, Clarence, Ridgeley, David D. Troutman and fiancee, Paula, Arbovale, and Stephen Troutman, Jacksonville, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Israel Sibley and wife, Angie, Fort Ashby, and Roman Sibley, Ridgeley.
At Mr. Troutman's request, his body is being cremated.
The Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Fort Ashby, is in charge of arrangements.
BARBARA A. SMITH
NEWARK, Del. - Barbara Ann Smith, 52, of Newark, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, in Newark.
She was the daughter of the late William and Bertha Workman; wife of Al Smith; mother of Bryce Jennings Richard; stepmother of five stepchildren; and sister of Walter L. Workman of Charleston, W.Va., and William R. Workman, Cumberland, Md. She also is survived by two grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; one god child; three nephews; and one niece.
Mrs. Workman was employed as an addiction counselor for PACE Inc. in Wilmington, Del.
Memorial services will be held June 5 at 7 p.m. in the Skyline United Methodist Church, Pike Creek, Del.
Visitation will be Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Armstrong Funeral Home, 734 Boone St., Whitesville, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 7, at 11 a.m. in the Delbert Baptist Church, Naoma, W.Va.
Burial will be in the Miller cemetery, Rock Creek, W.Va.
