PHILEMENA "MINNIE" WISE
KEYSER, W.Va. - Philemena "Minnie" Calemine Wise, retired businesswoman, died on Aug. 27, 1999 at her residence, 287 Welch St., Keyser.

Born in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Louie and Rose (Circosta) Calemine. She also was preceded in death by her first husband Hjalmar Borgan; two brothers, James V. Calemine and Dominick V. "Mickey" Calemine.

Mrs. Wise attended the public schools and Potomac State College, where she majored in home economics. Later, she completed training in cosmetology at the Tri-State Beauty Academy. She expanded her expertise in hairdressing by twice attending courses taught by the L'Oreal of Paris organization in New York City.

For many years, she owned and operated the Classic Beauty Shop, 19 North Main St., which is now being run by Anita Calemine Grove.

She turned her home economics background into a career in restaurant management. She owned and operated the Town House Restaurant, which was located on Davis Street. The restaurant featured the first smorgasbord dinners in the area. She owned the First Army-Navy Surplus Store in Keyser.

After her retirement, Mrs. Wise continued her interest in foods and became well-known for her cooking, baking and gardening. She was a life-long member of the Church of the Assumption and participated in many activities that benefited the church and St. Francis School.

Surviving are her husband, Herman L. Wise; her devoted sister, Mary M. Calemine; her devoted brother, Frank A. Calemine; sisters-in-law, Gladys Calemine and Colleen Calemine; nephews, Louis J. Calemine, of St. Simon's Island, Ga., and James A. Calemine, Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was also close to her nieces, Rosalee Calemine Freeman, Anita Calemine Grove, Carol Calemine Hofstad, of Keyser and Nancy Calemine Tyler, of Baltimore; great nephews, Thomas V. Grove, James Calemine and Anthony Hofstad; and great-nieces, Julie Grove Stump, Lori Grove, Melanie Freeman, Bethany Tyler, Emily Tyler and Anne Hofstad. Mrs. Wise especially loved her great-great-grand nephews Christopher Grove, Alec Grove, Dylan Stump, Tyler Stump and Logan Stump. She is also survived by numerous cousins.

Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, Keyser on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999 at 10 a.m. with Father Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R. celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Thomas cemetery, Keyser.

A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 7 p.m.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Assumption Ladies Guild, 34 James St., Keyser, W.Va. 26726.

ANNA LEE WOLFE
BAYARD, W.Va. - Anna Lee Wolfe, age 77, of Bayard, died on Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
She was born June 21, 1921, in Harman, and was a daughter of the late Jacob S. Cooper and Carrie (Snyder) Cooper. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell H. Wolfe, in 1990.

Mrs. Wolfe was a member of the Bayard United Methodist Church and the Bayard Homemakers Club.

She is survived by one son, Johnny M. Barkley, Thornton; two daughters, Carole Ann Glotfelty, Oakland, Md., and Jennie L. Johnson, Winchester, Va.; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Bayard United Methodist Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Shelba Sisler and the Rev. William Anderson officiating.

Interment will be in the Bayard cemetery.

DOROTHY M. WOODARD
KEYSER, W.Va - Dorothy M. Woodard, 82, of 88 Orchard St., Keyser, died on Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at her residence.
Born on Aug. 25, 1917, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna Young.

Mrs. Woodard was a homemaker. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and Mrs. Bane's Sunday School Class.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph W. Woodard; her son, William Woodard and wife Pam, Concord, Mass.; her daughter, Martha McGettigan and husband Al, Swanton; her sister, Marie Griffen, N.C.; her three grandchildren, Jonathan and Stephen Woodard, Concord, Mass., and Holly Clark, Morgantown, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

The body will be cremated and a private interment will be held at Queens Point cemetery, Keyser, at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.

JAMES G. WRIGHT
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - James Glenn Wright, 46, of Jenkins Run Road, Moorefield, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 24, 1999, at his residence.
Born June 18, 1953, in Petersburg, W.Va., he was the son of Marjorie (Evans) Wright, of Moorefield, and the late Glenn H. Wright, Jr.

Mr. Wright was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Moorefield, and attended the Baker's Chapel United Methodist Church at Durgon for the past 25 years. He was employed by Wampler Foods of Moorefield and was a member of the International Bowhunting Organization, a member of the Christian Bowhunters of American and the WV Poultry Association.

Surviving are his wife, Peggi L. (Ketterman) Wright; two sons, Jared G. Wright, and James "Jordon" Wright, at home; one brother, Joseph Mark Quentin Wright, of Moorefield, W.Va.; one sister, Barbara Wright Schoonover, of Rig, W.Va.; cousin, James Quentin "Ted" Evans, of Wardensville, W.Va.; six nieces; and one nephew.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at the Fraley Funeral Home, in Moorefield, at which time the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mr. Wright will be taken to the church one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at the Baker's Chapel United Methodist Church, Durgon, W.Va., with the Rev. Ron Bowyer, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Newhouse cemetery at Rig, W.Va.

ROBERT JAMES 'BOB' WYGAL
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Robert James 'Bob' Wygal, 94, of Romney, formerly of Clarksburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital Romney. He had moved to Romney about a year ago to live with his son, Philip.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1904, in Lee Creek, near Parkersburg, a son of the late Robert James and Myrtle (Ludwig) Wigal. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Rosalie (Taylor) Wygal, on June 23, 1991; and one son, Jack.

Mr. Wygal retired after 42 years of service as Manager of the Clarksburg City Plant of Consolidated Gas Supply Corporation.

Mr. Wygal was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was very involved in community activities in Clarksburg. While living in Romney, he attended the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Wygal touched the hearts of many and he will be greatly missed.

Surviving are three sons, Robert James Wygal Jr., Mars, Pa., Philip Wygal, Augusta, David Wygal, Buckhannon; one daughter, Anne Keith, Richmond, Va.; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Romney First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Calvin McCutcheon officiating. The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. to lie in state one hour prior to the service.

He will then be taken to the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, Clarksburg, where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Bridgeport cemetery, Bridgeport, with the Rev. Susan Rector officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Romney First United Methodist Church, 49 N. High St., Romney, WV 26757.

KENNETH R. YOUNG
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Kenneth Ray Young, 92, of 5 Lyons St., Ridgeley, and residing at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg, Md., died Monday, August 9, 1999, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born June 13, 1907, in Thomas, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles William Young and the late Annie (Strahin) Young. He was preceded by his first wife, Leonora S. (Spangler) Young; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Uncle Ken was kind and loving who had no children of his own, but helped raise two nieces, Catherine Oates, Atlanta, and the late Henrietta Rice; and three great-nieces, Jeannette Clark, Atlanta, Karen Oates, Atlanta, and Josephine Miller, Cumberland, who were proud to have him as an uncle and father. He was also a special Pop-Pop to Teagan.

Mr. Young was a retired shop foreman with the Western Maryland Railway. He was a member of the Ali Ghan Shrine Club, a past Master of Ohr Lodge 131 A.F. & A.M., a life member of the Drum and Bugle Corp of the Shrine, a member of the Cumberland Scottish Rite Bodies and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Algonquin Forest 140. He was also a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are a wife, Katherine M. (Metz) Young, Butler, Pa.; a sister. Mary Shoemaker and husband George, Stephens City, Va.; two stepdaughters, Judith Rae Giles and husband Robert, Cumberland, and Janice Lee David and husband Dr. Jeffery David, Butler; a special niece, Josephine Miller and husband Jim, Cumberland; two step-grandchildren, Kraig Allen Powers and wife Sarecia, and Gared Michael David; a step-great-granddaughter, Teagan Rylee Powers; and a step-brother-in-law, Lewis Metz and wife Helen, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen F. Yelovich officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

A Masonic service will be conducted by Ohr Lodge 131 A.F. & A.M., Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.

MYRL T. ZIMMERS
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Myrl Thomas Zimmers, 67, of RFD 1, Box 257, Ridgeley, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland.
Born Feb. 17, 1932, in Ridgeley, he was the son of the late Myrl M. Zimmers and the late Madeline E. (Cannon) Zimmers Null. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. (Small) Zimmers, in 1990; and a son, James Byron Zimmers.

Mr. Zimmers was a retired employee of Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. He was a member of Cumberland Moose 271; Eagles 245; American Legion Club, Ridgeley; and the Goodfellowship Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Merritt Clark and husband Mike, Wiley Ford, Kimberly Ann Benson, Proctorville, Ohio, and Terri Hamilton, Keyser; two sisters, Charlene Keller and husband Edward, Cumberland, Md., and Patricia Keller and husband Dick, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Brandi Merritt Comer, Ridgeley, Blair Benson, Proctorville, Ohio, and Brent James Benson, Proctorville; one great-grandchild, Taylor M. Comer, Ridgeley; and a special friend and care giver, Alicia Sensabaugh, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harry Burchell officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.
