LEWIS J. GANOE
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Lewis J. Ganoe Sr., 67, of Fort Ashby, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home.
Born March 19, 1931, in Points, he was the son of the late Melvin J. and Gertrude (Lewis) Ganoe. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Ann G. Barnes.
Mr. Ganoe was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Al Packer's Automobiles, where he had been a mechanic and truck driver. He was Methodist by faith. He belonged to the VFW Post 1101, Romney; American Legion Post 91, Romney; and Amvets, Cresaptown, Md.
Survivors include his wife, Wortley Ganoe; four sons, Lewis J. Ganoe Jr., Frederick, Ralph J. Ganoe and John Ganoe, both of Wheaton, and Dean Ganoe, Frederick; one brother, Louden Ganoe, Lewes, Del.; three granddaughters; and special friend and companion, Jean Hawkins and family.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Monday from 10 a.m. to noon.
The funeral service will be held Monday at noon with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.
Interment will follow in the Branch Mountain cemetery, Three Churches.
LAVERNE K. HIGGINS
KEYSER, W.Va. - LaVerne Katherine Higgins, 86, of Keyser, formerly of 10 Ormand St., Frostburg, Md., died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born June 25, 1911, in Midlothian, Md., she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Tippen) Higgins. She also was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister.
Miss Higgins was a retired secretary from the Celanese Fibers Corp. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, and had been attending the Church of the Assumption, Keyser.
Surviving are one sister, Evelyn Williams, Keyser; one niece, Mary Beck and husband Charles, Keyser; two great-nieces, Katie Kesner and husband Bob, and Melinda Riggleman and husband Walter, and one great-nephew, Charles Beck Jr. and wife Barbara, all of Keyser; and numerous great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Byrnes officiating.
TODD J. FISHER
KEYSER, W.Va.- Todd J. Fisher, 3 months, of Keyser, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Sept. 11, 1998, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Todd W. and Robin L. (Lancaster) Fisher, both of Keyser. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Leona J. Myers, Otha W. Myers and Leonard R. Fisher; and maternal great-grandparents, Harold Pershing Binnix and Mary M. Binnix.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two stepsisters, Britini and Whitni Fisher, Ridgeley; maternal grandparents, Leon Lancaster, Friendsville, Md., Mary Jo (Binnix) Dorsey and John F. Dorsey Sr., all of Cumberland; paternal grandparents, Joseph W. Fisher, Jeanette D. (Myers) Fisher and Ronny T. Ralston, all of Carpendale; paternal great-grandmother, Ada Fisher, Ridgeley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Timothy McGregor officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.

KEYSER, W.Va.- Friends will be received for Todd J. Fisher at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
He is also survived by his paternal step-grandmother, Susan Fisher.
ARTHUR HINES
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Arthur Hines, age 71, of Fredericksburg, retired Army Sergeant, died October 6, 1998, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg.
Mr. Hines was born June 2, 1927, at Keyser, W.Va., a son of the late Eva Saville Hines and Arthur Hines, Beryl, W.Va.
Mr. Hines joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and retired in 1968 after serving in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Germany, France and several duty stations in the United States.
He also retired with 20 years' service from the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Hines is survived by his wife, Lillian Pancione Hines; sons, Arthur and Charles, Fredericksburg; and a sister, Verna DeShong, Westernport, Md. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, at Mullins & Thompson, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Stone officiating.
MABEL L. HIGH
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Mabel Lorena (Rogers) High, 102, Ridgeley's oldest citizen, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 31, 1896, in Hardy County, she was the daughter of the late James and Ida Virginia (Chaplain) Rogers. Mrs. High also was preceded in death by her husband, Henry De Kalb High, on April 10, 1958; and three brothers, Luther Rogers, Dallas Rogers and Armond Rogers.
She attended Miss Huffman's Boarding School, where she studied piano. Mrs. High had a life-long love of music.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where she had belonged to the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Beryl High, with whom she had resided; her son, Bernard V. High, LaVale; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., corner of Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Davis Memorial United Methodist Church, 14300 Uhl Highway, Cumberland, on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Ted Higby will officiate, assisted by Lewis Twigg.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service time.
Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Jewell, Bob Noel, Geary Hoover, David Patrick and Daniel Claycomb.
CALVIN E. GILLASPIE
BURLINGTON, W.Va. - Calvin Emerson Gillaspie, 75, of Route 1, Box 107, Burlington, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born July 25, 1922, at Williamsport, he was a son of the late Isadore T. Gillaspie and Mary Susan (Bosley) Gillaspie. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty L. Rotruck; two grandchildren, David R. Gillaspie and Debra D. Gillaspie; one great-granddaughter, Lauren O. Fink; three brothers, Frank Gillaspie, Amos Gillaspie and Berlin Gillaspie; and two sisters, Florence Carr and Irene Hottle.
Mr. Gillaspie was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served with the Sea Bees. He was a retired conductor for the B&O; Railroad/Chessie System with 40-plus years of faithful service. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and horseback rider. He was a "Mountain Man" who loved the outdoors and country life. He was a lifetime member of Queens Point Memorial Post 6775 VFW, McCoole, Md.
Surviving are his wife, Viola E. (Thorne) Gillaspie; one daughter, Mary S. Gillaspie Fink, Keyser; three sons, Paul E. Gillaspie Sr., Burlington, Roger D. Gillaspie, Portland, Ore., and James A. Gillaspie Sr., Burlington; one foster son, Homer Butler, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three foster grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Williamson officiating.
Mr. Gillaspie requested that following the visitation and funeral services his body be cremated and his remains be scattered on the family farm.
