ANNA B. HEAVENER
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Anna Belle Murphy Heavener, 70, of Short Gap, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born April 19, 1928, in Antioch, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Addie Mae (McNemar) Coffman. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Haywood Murphy, on June 13, 1974.
Mrs. Heavener was a member of Our Father's House, Knobley Road. She was a member of the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Warren J. Heavener; four sons, Samuel W. Stewart and wife Bobbi, Keyser, Patrick H. Murphy and wife Debbie, Hendersonville, N.C., Michael L. Murphy and wife Becky, Louisville, Ky., and Thomas E. Murphy and wife Cathy, Fisher; four daughters, Brenda S. Beeman and fiance Wayne Winters, Wiley Ford, Glenda L. Brady and husband Ralph, Fort Ashby, Terri L. McLarney and husband Timothy, Cumberland, with whom she resided, and Amy L. Scott and husband Dave, Hudson, N.H.; two sisters, Bernice Dearing, Martinsburg, and Beatrice Harris, Antioch; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ted Hartman officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department Building Fund.
OLIE D. HEAVENER
KEYSER, W.Va. - Olie D. Heavener, 81, of Route 1, Keyser, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born on June 9, 1917, in Pendleton County, W.Va., he was a son of the late Wilbur and Amy (Reed) Heavener. Twice married
, he was preceded in death by both wives, Goldie (Goldizen) Heavener in February 1956 and Dessie (Kimble) Heavener on Feb. 6, 1989.
Mr. Heavener was a retired self-employed timberman and farmer. He was a member of the Keyser Church of God.
Surviving are seven sons, Reginald Heavener, Richard Heavener, Bobbie Heavener, Fredie Heavener, all of Keyser, Junior Heavener, Burlington, Curtis Kohne, Falmouth, Va., and Terry Kevin Yokum, New Creek; four daughters, Pauline Wolfe, Dorcas, Wanda Whetzel, Keyser, Susie Knowles, Reedsville, N.C., Eunice Aldridge, Keyser; one stepson, Dyer Whetzel, Keyser; one stepdaughter, Pearl Rumer Bosley, Keyser; one sister, Retta Kohne, Augusta; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Sears officiating.
Interment will be in the Goldizen cemetery, Jordan Run Road, Maysville.
WILLIAM HEAVENER SR.
SLANESVILLE, W.Va. - William Glenn Heavener Sr., 83, of Slanesville, died Friday March 27, 1998, at his home.
Born April 18, 1914, in Slanesville, he was the son of the late Jacob William Heavener and Nancy Elizabeth Combs Heavener Smaltz. Also preceding him in death were two sons, Roger Glenn Heavener and Ralph Odell Heavener; two brothers; and one sister.
He was the owner and operator of Heavener's Grocery in Slanesville for 25 years. He also had been a Hampshire County School bus driver for many years.
He was Methodist by faith. He was a Charter Member of Slanesville Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as Chief for several years; and he was a former member of the Board of Education for 16 years. He also served as a Board Member of Augusta and Slanesville Burial Association.
On June 1, 1935, in Cumberland, Md., he married
the former Opal K. Grapes, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Linden Heavener, Ridgeway, Robert D. Heavener, Martinsburg, Donald N. Heavener, Slanesville, and William G. Heavener Jr., Winchester, Va.; one daughter, Nancy F. Crosby, Fairmont; one niece, Grantha May Haines, Inwood; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Peters officiating.

SARAH L. HEAVNER
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Mrs. Sarah R. Heavner, age 94, of Moorefield, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 16, 1998, at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Born June 24, 1903, in Moorefield, she was a daughter of the late John D. and Sarah (Mongold) Heavner. Mrs. Heavner was a lifelong resident of Hardy County, a housewife, and a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Heavner, in December, 1939; five sisters; and two brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Lyle Heavner and Larry Heavner, both of Moorefield; two daughters, Zella Rummer, Belpre, Ohio, Genevieve Wilkens, Greenville, N.C.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with the Rev. Mel Fike officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet cemetery in Moorefield.
ELMER J. HENAGHAN
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Elmer J. "Skip" Henaghan, 76, of Ridgeley, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1921, in Mount Savage, Md., he was the son of the late John and Mary Anna (Wilderman) Henaghan. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Bernard.
Mr. Henaghan retired in 1984 from Allegany Ballistics Laboratory/Hercules as a maintenance mechanic. He attended Beall High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a Catholic by faith and a member of Cumberland Moose 271, Ridgeley VFW and the Ridgeley American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, M. Doris (Shanholtzer) Henaghan; two sons, William D. Henaghan, Florida, and John S. Henaghan and wife Jeannie, Keyser; one daughter, Karen S. Johnson and husband Greg, Route 2, Ridgeley; one sister, Mildred Kopper, Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Md., on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Christian Wake will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 5 p.m. by the Rev. Milton Hipsley.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Daren Ritchey officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
FRANCES C. KESLER "PINK" HENDERSON
GREEN SPRING, W.Va. - Frances C. Kesler "Pink" Henderson, loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 71, of Green Spring, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
She was born April 29, 1927, in Green Spring, a daughter of the late William Francis and Edna Virginia (Foley) Kesler. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Ruth Mower and Margaret JoAnne Fields.
Mrs. Henderson retired from Koppers Company Inc. in Green Spring after serving over 40 years.
She was a very active member of the Romney First United Methodist Church, where she served as President of the United Methodist Women. She also served on the Official Board of the church. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 84. Mrs. Henderson was a very active member of the General Federation of Women's Club (G.F.W.C.) of Romney. She also served as an active volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile in Romney.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Lilburn W. Henderson, Green Spring; one son, Stephen W. Henderson, and wife, Christine, Staunton, Va.; three daughters, Lois Ann Henderson, Bluefield, Janis L. Nicholson, and husband, Bruce, Springfield, Nancy K. Henderson, Nitro; two brothers, W. Leo Kesler, Green Spring, and Harold "Bobby" Kesler, Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Phyliss Conrad, Towson, Md.; four grandsons, Mark, Michael and Joseph Nicholson, Springfield, and Connor Henderson, Staunton; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Wednesday, May 6, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 84 of Romney will conduct a service at 7 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Romney First United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 7, 1998, at 1 p.m. Mrs. Henderson's body will be taken to the church for viewing one hour before the service. The Rev. Calvin McCutcheon, the Rev. Douglas N. Shepherd and the Rev. Okey Harless will officiate.
