CHRISTINE D. THOMAS
NEW CREEK, W.Va. - Christine D. Thomas, 25, of HC 72, Box 156, New Creek, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born Sept. 10, 1972, at Cumberland, Md., she was a daughter of John W. and Joyce E. (Smith) Thomas of New Creek. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth Thomas; and her maternal grandmother, Bessie Smith.

Ms. Thomas was a 1990 graduate of Keyser High School and attended Rees-Chapel United Methodist Church, New Creek.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, is one sister, Patricia Elaine Thomas, New Creek.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Barbara Starling officiating. Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

KAREN S. THRASHER
CORINTH, W.Va. - Karen S. Thrasher, 49, of Corinth, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.
Born Sept. 28, 1948, in Alexandria, Va., she is the daughter of Mary M. (Schoudt) (Neff) Fewell, Strasburg, Va., and the late Carl M. Neff Jr. She also was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Beavers.

She taught fifth grade at Red House Elementary School before transfering to the new Yough Glade Elementary School. She taught elementary school for a total of 10 years. She graduated summa cum laude from Frostburg State University and from Garrett Community College, and was working toward her master's degree at West Virginia University. She was a member of the National Teachers Association.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, William R. Thrasher; five daughters, Kimberly D. Sorrell, and husband, Richard, Woodbridge, Va., Kelly J. Price, Dumfries, Va., Mary E. Martin, and husband, John, Morgantown, Sarah M. Thrasher, Columbus, Ohio, and Patricia A. Thrasher, Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Cathy M. Pattison, and husband, Dennis, Stephens City, Va.; paternal grandmother, Ollie Hummer, Abbeville, S.C.; a close friend, Connie A. Wilson, Oakland, Md.; three grandsons, Kyle L. Sorrell, Ethan R. Sorrell, both of Woodbridge, Va., and Jonathan I. Martin, Morgantown.

Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Kisamore and the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating.

Interment will be in the Deer Park cemetery.

EDNA V. TIMBROOK
AUGUSTA, W.Va. - Edna Virginia Timbrook, 91, of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home, Winchester, Va.
She was born June 21, 1906, in Slanesville, W.Va., the daughter of the late Joseph F. Frye and Lillian Short Frye. Mrs. Timbrook was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Herman Timbrook, in 1991; two brothers, Carl and Ira Frye; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Timbrook was a teacher in Hampshire County schools for 17 years. She was a member of the Augusta Church of Christ, the Augusta Ruritanettes, and the Augusta Homemakers Club.

Friends will be received at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at 11 a.m. with Jerry Timbrook, minister.

Interment will be in the Augusta cemetery, Augusta.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronald Omps, Charles Miller, Harold Mowery, Herbert Veach, Virgil Peer, Jr., and Eugene Frye.

IRA THOMAS "I.T." TIMBROOK
SHANKS, W.Va. - Ira Thomas "I.T." Timbrook, 90, of P.O. Box 371, Shanks, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998 at Shawnee Springs Nursing Home, Winchester, Va.
He was born Aug. 5, 1908, a son of the late Thomas Wesley Timbrook and the late Cora Belle Ganoe Timbrook. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel McCune on Oct. 11, 1988; and by six brothers; and six sisters.

Mr. Timbrook served as Justice of the Peace and Hampshire County Magistrate for 21 years.

Surviving are one son, James R. Timbrook and wife, Shirley, Augusta; one sister, Gladys Shackleford, Akron, Ohio; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Friends will be received at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Judge Donald P. Cookman and Pastor Robert Jeffreys officiating.

Interment will be in the Ebenezer cemetery, Romney.

Pallbearers will be Gary Bowman, Ed Bolyard, Sgt. David Burkhart, Bob Uhler, Bill Roomsburg and Conda Shanholtz.

FRANK R. TROY JR.
ORLANDO, Fla. - Frank Richard Troy Jr., 82-year-old World War II veteran, 1031 Farewell Ave., Orlando, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998.
Born in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Frank R. Troy Sr. and Olive VanPelt Troy.

Mr. Troy moved to Orlando in 1974 after retiring from the Prince Georges County school system as a music instructor. He was a substitute teacher at Colonial High School, Orlando, where he taught music, shop, history and special education classes. He was a member of the Orlando American Legion Post 0019, and the Musicians Union.

He was a graduate of Keyser High School, Potomac State College, Keyser, where he received his bachelor's degree, and West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va., where he received his master's degree in woodwinds. Moving to Rockville, Md., in 1953 to teach at Leland Junior High School, Bethesda, Md., he started work on his doctorate at Catholic University, Washington, D.C. While at Catholic University, he was commissioned to compose the Official Requiem March, "A Soldier is Dead," for Arlington National cemetery. He also composed the President's Cup Regatta Overture that was performed for many years for the President's Cup Regatta, Washington.

While in Rockville, Richard was the Honored Guest Conductor to many area bands including the Army and Navy Washington, D.C., bands. Frank founded the Rockville Municipal Band and Choral Groups. He also wrote and directed musical productions for the Rockville Civic Theater. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and directed its choir, and was a member of the Rockville Knights of Columbus.

Born and raised in Keyser, Richard started his long music career when he was 8 years old and played the piccolo in the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Band that his father, Frank R. Troy Sr., directed. He was a member of the Keyser Volunteer Fire Department, Loyal Order of Moose, and American Legion, and was a member of the Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he directed the church choir.

Mr. Troy moved to Moorefield, W.Va., in 1948, where he was the music director of the county school system in Hardy County, W.Va. He started his music writing/composing career in Moorefield with the writing of the Moorefield Fight Song and the Sanders High School Alma Mater.

Surviving are his eight children, Frances J. Welton, Moorefield, Claris Mac'Kie, Daytona Beach, Frank Troy III, Charleston, S.C., Catherine Clements, North Beach, Md., Betsy Spano, Germantown, Md., Thomas Troy, Washington, D.C., Adam Troy, College Park, Md., and Adiena Donahue, Cocoa Beach; and one sister, Monica Sterchele, Orlando; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moorefield High School Band Fund, the Moorefield High School Scholarship Fund, or the Hardy County Public Library Association for the Archives Room/Program, Moorefield.

A. BLAINE TURNER
ROMNEY, W.Va. - A. Blaine Turner, 79, of Romney, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
He was born Aug. 24, 1918, in Petersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Martin B. and Sarah Elizabeth (VanFleet) Turner. He also was preceded in death by two brothers.

Mr. Turner moved with his family to Romney at age 11. He was baptised at the Presbyterian Church in Lahmansville, W.Va., and attended the Romney First United Methodist Church for many years. Mr. Turner retired after 40 years of service from the Celanese Corporation, LaVale, Md. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy on three different merchant ships as a gunner.

He was a life member and past Commander of the VFW Wappocomo Post 1101. He was a member of the Romney Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He played right field and was the clean-up batter for the Romney Rocket Baseball Team. Mr. Turner was an avid bowler and a member of the 300 Club. He was on several bowling teams and was selected to bowl on the Moose Bowling Team when they won the West Virginia State Championship.

Mr. Turner is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sally Taylor Turner; two sons, Gary K. Taylor, Newark, Del., and Kenneth Blaine Turner, Romney; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Sally Heavener, Kernersville, N.C., and Mrs. Jennifer T. Bridges, Summerfield, N.C.; two brothers, Emory Turner, Cumberland, Md., and Joe Turner, Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Dawson, Augusta, and Mrs. Ruth Hankins, Charles Town; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at the Romney First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Calvin McCutcheon officiating, assisted by the Rev. Douglas N. Shepherd.

At Mr. Turner's request, his body will be cremated, and interment will be at a later date at the Ebenezer cemetery, Romney.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Romney First United Methodist Church Organ Fund, c/o Shaffer Funeral Home, 230 East Main St., Romney, WV 26757.

EDNA ALMA TURNER
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Edna A. (Rexrode) Turner, age 83, of Petersburg, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at her residence.
Born Aug. 26, 1914, in Maysville, she was the daughter of the late Bertrude E. Rexrode and Charlotte "Lottie" (Burgess) Rexrode. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were two brothers; and three sisters.

Mrs. Turner was Brethren by faith.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, John Woodrow Turner. They were married on Feb. 3, 1934. Also surviving are two sons, Jerry D. Turner, Herndon, Va., Ronald D. Turner, Gambrills, Md.; one sister, Beulah Forte, Maysville; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Raines officiating.

Interment will be in Lahmansville cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Grant Memorial Hospice.
