L. WAYNE WILSON
VEAZIE, Maine - Louis Wayne Wilson, 86, husband of the late Alice G. Wilson of Veazie, died March 2, 1998, at a Bangor hospital.
He was born in Elkins, W.Va., June 16, 1911, the son of George O. and Myrtle (Wentling) Wilson.
Wayne was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.
Surviving are one sister, Edith F. Wilson of Bangor; two brothers, Robert Eugene Wilson of Cumberland, Md., Ernest Warren Wilson, both of Cumberland, Md.; nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by special friends, Edward and Barbara Higgins of Veazie.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Charles Swart officiating. Spring interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Veazie.
RAYMOND D. WILSON
KEYSER, W.Va. - Raymond D. Wilson, 78, of 284 Marabou Circle, West Columbia, S.C., formerly of Keyser, died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at Providence Hospital, Columbia.
Born July 17, 1920, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Elmer E. and Ailcy B. (Davis) Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee (Trenton) Wilson, on June 8, 1991.
Mr. Wilson was a retired Mechanic Operator from the Celanese Corporation. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Jean Chaney and husband, James A., Columbia; three grandchildren, Lisa Marie Rodeheaver, James Michael Chaney and Richard Davis Chaney; one great-grandchild, Jeremiah Creed Rodeheaver; two brothers, Elmer E. Wilson Jr., Flat Rock, Mich., and Harold W. Wilson, Dequincy, La.; one sister, June Cirillo, Eastpointe, Mich. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sue Culbertson Jarrett officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to the Grace United Methodist Church.
W. TROXELL ``HOPPY" WILTISON
KEYSER, W.Va. - W. Troxell ``Hoppy" Wiltison, 80, of 500 Carskadon Lane, Keyser, formerly of Rawlings, Md., died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on June 13, 1918, at Piedmont, he was a son of the late James G. Wiltison and Grace (Taylor) Wiltison Foster. He also was preceded in death by his beloved stepfather, George B. Foster; and three brothers, James G. Wiltison Jr., Clyde Wiltison and Charles Wiltison.
Mr. Wiltison was a retired brakeman with the Chessie System with 33 years of service. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Rawlings United Methodist Church, a member and Past Master of Potomac Lodge #100, A.F. & A.M., Cumberland, Md., Past Grand Inspector of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Maryland and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Cumberland. He was also a former member of the Rawlings Volunteer Fire Department and the Rawlings Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Vera R. (Nicolo) Wiltison; two sons, T. Eugene Wiltison and wife, Robin, Ellicott City, Md., Robert A. Wiltison, Westernport, Md.; one daughter, Darlene Newland and husband, Jay, Roswell, Ga.; two stepsisters, Esther Julian, Grand Rapids, Mich., Delsie Walters, Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Trail officiating.
Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, Md.
Potomac Lodge #100 A.F. & A.M. will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 6:45 p.m.
BETTY C. WISE
KEYSER, W.Va. - Betty C. Wise, 74, of Route 2, Fountain, Keyser, died Saturday, June 27, 1998, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born May 13, 1924, at Frostburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late John R. and Emma (Lyons) Bryan. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis F. "Beau" Wise, in 1971.
Mrs. Wise was a bookkeeper, formerly employed by David McLaughlin, CPA, for 15 years, and Spencer Trucking. She was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of Bethlehem Chapter 14, Order of the Easter Star.
Surviving are one brother, John R. Bryan, Thomasville, Ga.; two sisters, Virginia Flick, McCoole, Md., and Barbara Murphy, Westernport, Md.; seven nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and -nephews.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, June 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. John Garrison.
The Order of the Easter Star will hold a memorial service at the funeral home Monday at 7 p.m.
MINNIE V. WOLFE
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. - Minnie V. Wolfe, 92, of Staley Avenue, Clarksburg, formerly of Deer Park, Md., died Monday, March 30, 1998, at the United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
Born July 14, 1905, in Deer Park, Md., she was the daughter of the late Isaac A. and Perlina (Sowers) Paugh. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wolfe, in 1969.
For 10 years she owned and operated the Edge 'o the Lake Restaurant, Deep Creek Lake, Md., and later owned and operated the Nixon Plaza Restaurant, Nutter Fort, W.Va. She was a member of the Paradise United Methodist Church, Deer Park, and Oakland Chapter #67, O.E.S., Oakland, Md.
She is survived by two sisters, Rose Shockey, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Glenna Paugh, Clarksburg; one brother, Bennett M. Paugh, McHenry, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 2, 1998, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. R. Samuel Wachter officiating. Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
EARL B. WOLFORD
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Earl Bernard Wolford Sr., 87, of Fort Ashby, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at the Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney.
Born April 29, 1911, in Fort Ashby, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ethel (Offutt) Wolford.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta (Corbin) Wolford; his second wife, Hazel L. (Massie) Wolford, who died in December 1997; and one daughter, Joyce Ann Sampson.
Mr. Wolford was retired from the Celanese Corporation, where he did color matching in the Dye Department.
He had also been a minister for over 40 years, having served at the Dennison Community Church, now known as the Berean Independent Baptist Church, Fort Ashby, and at Fox's Hollow Church, Romney.
He attended the First Wesleyan Church, Cresaptown.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jo Baldwin and husband, Paul Richard Baldwin, Fort Ashby; one son, Earl "Bernie" Wolford Jr., and wife, Kathleen, Marietta, Ga.; one sister, Helen N. Long, Chambersburg, Pa.; two brothers, Vernon B. Wolford and wife, Peggy, Lakeland, Fla., and Melvin L. Wolford and wife, Mary, Delaware, Ohio; a son-in-law, Robert L. Sampson, Fort Ashby; seven grandchildren, Sherry Baldwin Grogg, Kim Sampson Walton, Christal Sampson Riley, Shelley Sampson Arno, Matthew Sampson, Jordon and Trevor Wolford; and six great-grandchildren, Ashley and Thad Grogg, Brittney Riley, Kathy, Amy and Ben Walton.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Walton, Rick Riley, Herbert Judy, Ralph Brady, John Hinkle and Lawrence O'Brien.
MAMIE L. WOLFORD
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Mamie L. Wolford, 84, of 255 N. Grafton St., Romney, died Tuesday at the Long Term Care Unit of Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
Born April 12, 1914, in Hampshire County, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Ella V. (Steward) Wince. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Dora Shanholtz and her second husband, Omar G. Wolford, Nov. 1, 1973. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth V. McDonald; and three brothers.
Mrs. Wolford was a member of the Romney Church of the Brethren, Romney.
Surviving are a son, Charles "Bud" Wolford, Dunnellon, Fla.; a daughter, Helen Landis, Green Spring; one brother, Floyd Wince, Points; one sister, Ollie Orndorff, Springfield; nine grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The familly will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Shaffer Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian Moreland officiating.
