ROBERT LEE NELSON
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Robert Lee Nelson, 79, of Elk Garden, died Saturday, May 17, 1997, at his residence.
Born Jan. 17, 1018, in Tucker County, he was the son of the late John E. and Rosie (Arbogast) Nelson. He also was preceded in death by his wife Nilda Mayles Nelson.

Mr. Nelson was a retired coal miner.

Surviving are one son, Robert L. Nelson Jr., Elk Garden; one daughter, Brenda Rawlings, Front Royal, Va.; one brother, Harry Nelson, Flemington; two grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in IOOF cemetery, Elk Garden.

SARAH E. NILAND
GRAFTON, W.Va. - Sarah Elizabeth Niland, 91, of Maple Avenue, Grafton, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Monongalia General Hospital.
Born Feb. 20, 1906, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late John M. and Cecilia (Yarnell) Niland. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryne N. Bennett; two brothers, Eugene G. Niland and John M. Niland; two nieces, Kathryn L. Bennett and Corinne B. Crawford.

Miss Niland retired in 1972 from the American Federation of Postal Workers Union as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Chevy Chase, Md. She was a resident of Cumberland, Md., and Washington, D.C., before moving to Grafton to reside with her sister, Margaret Niland Malone, who survives her.

In addition to her sister, she is survived by one stepsister, Anna Miller, Grafton; and nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. (Emily) Glaser, Wellsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard D. (Marcia) Slaven, Grafton, Dr. and Mrs. Paul F. (Jane) Malone, Morgantown, Eugene G. Niland, Newark, Dela., Mrs. Donald Dzielak, Bear, Dela., and Mary Ann Miller, Grafton.

Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High St., Morgantown, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Father Joseph Mascioli officiating.

Interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery, Cumberland, Md., on Thursday at noon.

W. HUBER NORMAN
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - W. Huber Norman, 87, of Elk Garden, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, in Martinsburg City Hospital.
Born May 30, 1909, in Elk Garden, he was the son of the late James and Maude (Shillingburg) Norman. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (McKean) Norman; and one sister, Bertha Miller.

Mr. Norman graduated from Randolph Macon Military School, and Potomac State College. He was a store owner in Elk Garden for many years; a member of the Masonic Lodge; a charter member of the Kitzmiller Lions Club; and a 12 year member of the Mineral County Board of Education.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Ross Winters, Frederick, Md., Jean Elizabeth Workman, Shepherdstown, and Laudene Treshnell, Mill Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Norma Parheo, Pittsburgh, and Betty Ross, Arizona; and six grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the Elk Garden Methodist Church on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Brenda Shreve officiating.

Interment will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Elk Garden.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Elk Garden Methodist Church.

EDNA K. NEALIS
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Edna K. Nealis, 72, of Route 1, Ridgeley, died Sunday, July 13, 1997, at the Dawn View Manor Nursing Home, Fort Ashby.
Born March 26, 1925, in Fort Ashby, she was the daughter of the late Dailey Roy and Nora Estelle (Wagoner) Davis. She also was preceded in death by her husband Hetzel O. Nealis; and two brothers, Wesley J. Davis and Franklin Earl Davis.

Mrs. Nealis was a seamstress, having worked at the Celanese Plant, Cumberland Blouse Factory, Doe Spun, Top of All and the Keyser Garment Factory. She was a member of the Mapleside United Methodist Church and the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren. She also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fort Ashby VFW Post 6667.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathryn Eleanora Moreland and husband Myron, Old Furnace Road; two sons, Jeffery Dailey Nealis and wife Sharon, Cumberland, and Gregory Lee Nealis and wife Audrey, Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Donald R. Davis, Fort Ashby, and Stanley A. Davis, Groton, Conn.; one sister, Mary Ellen Dennison, Cumberland; and seven grandchildren, Robbie Moreland, Jeannie Malone and husband Sean, Ryan Moreland, Jami Nealis, Justin Nealis, Jeremy Nealis and Kathryn Nealis.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.

A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. by the Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Ashby Post 6667.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Heisey and the Rev. Calvin Roop officiating.

Interment will be in the Fort Ashby cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Moreland, Ryan Moreland, Sean Malone, Earle Leister, Mike Fleming and Mike Wagoner.

HENRY F. NATALE
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Henry Francis Natale, 73, of Ridgeley, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997, at the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Dec. 1, 1923, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Pasquale Natale and Josephine (Bazella) Derrico Natale Calvetto. He also was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Natale was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Co., and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Camela (Bennett) Natale; six daughters, Diane Carolan and husband Terry, Cumberland, Debbie Rafferty and husband John, Frostburg, Angela Feldstein and husband Al, LaVale, Christina McCullough and husband Leroy, Cumberland, Yolanda Pensinger and husband Rick, Falling Waters, Maria Gloyd and husband Carroll, Paw Paw; one son, Anthony Natale, at home; two brothers, Carl Natale and wife Martha, and Herbert Natale, all of Cumberland; one stepbrother, Joseph Derrico and wife Olive, Cumberland; 12 grandchildren, Fred, Thaddeus and Nova Carolan, Timothy Natale, Linda Cunningham, Michael E.F. Mulligan, Natasha and Josinda Feldstien, Sarina Logan, Sebastian Pensinger, and Nathan and Natale Gloyd; and one great-grandchild, Sybil Ours.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church Friday at noon with the Rev. Milton A. Hipsley and the Rev. Earl Travis officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.

GERTIE M. OSTER
WILEY FORD, W.Va. - Gertie Maysel Oster, 88, formerly of Wiley Ford, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at the Cumberland Nursing Home. Born March 25, 1909, in Riverton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Simeon M. Mallow and the late Zella M. (Mallow) Mallow.
She also was preceded in death by her husband Wilma M. Oster in 1988; and two sons, Lynford Oster and Gerald L. Oster.

Mrs. Oster was a Methodist by faith.

Surviving are two sons, Lloyd S. Oster and wife, Saundra, Cumberland, and Norman M. Oster and wife Patricia, Short Gap, W.Va.; a daughter, W. Jean Elza and husband, Charles, Short Gap; two brothers, the Rev. Ray Mallow, Clearville, Pa.; and Austin Mallow, Cumberland; three sisters, Eva Rice, Beans Cove, Pa., Ona Smith, Everett, Pa., and Myrtle Fisher, Clearville, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Oster, Ridgeley, W.Va.; 49 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jery Eisenhour officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

LEO WILSON OTT
FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Leo Wilson Ott, 65, of Fairfield, Conn., died Oct. 18, 1997, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was a retired inspection engineer for U.S. Baird, where he worked for 34 years.
Born in Ridgeley, W.Va., he resided in Fairfield for 44 years. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 74 and of the Greenfield Hill Grange 133. He was a former Cub Scout leader at Sacred Heart Church and later at St. George's Church. He was an avid collector of model trains.

He was the son of the late James W. and Cecelia C. (Fisher) Ott. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph E. Ott; and one sister, Edith Mae Lewis.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Zaborowski) Ott, Fairfield, Conn.; a son, Wayne L. and wife Diane Ott, Bridgeport; two grandchildren, Christine and Gary Ott; a brother, George H. Ott, Cumberland; four sisters, Lillian Anderson, Centerville, Pa., Vera Nosal, Fairfield, Ruth Schoonover, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Mildred Watson, Warren, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Oct. 21, 1997, at the Commerce Hill Funeral Home in Bridgeport, and at the Assumption Church. Interment was in Oaklawn cemetery.
