HARRY NAZELROD
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Harry Nazelrod, 81, of Ridgeley, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, at the Lion's Manor Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 9, 1915, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Samuel and Grace (Kesner) Nazelrod. He also was preceded in death by his wife Mayoma (Smith) Nazelrod; and two brothers, Vernon and Rudolph Nazelrod.
He retired as a mechanic with the Romney Orchards after 43 years of service.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Iser and husband Frederick, Ridgeley, and Sharon Liller and husband Gary, Keyser; two brothers, Jonah Nazelrod, Romney, and Carl Nazelrod, Vermilion, Ohio; five sisters, Goldie Self, Ruth Shanholtz and Mary Lambert, all of Romney, Bertha Whalen, Richmond, Va., and Lena Martin, Verona, Va.; three grandchildren, Shannon Malcolm and Sebastian Iser, both of Ridgeley, and Pamela Liller, Keyser; and two great-grandchildren, Whisper and Savannah Malcolm, Ridgeley.
Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Ebenezer cemetery, Romney, on Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. James Tyree officiating.
JAMES E. N. NAZELROD
KEYSER, W.Va. - James E.N. Nazelrod, 48, of Route 1, Keyser, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, as the result of a tragic incident which occurred earlier that evening near Burlington.
Born Oct. 5, 1949, in Oakland, Md., he was the son of the late Eugene and Virginia I. Nazelrod, formerly of Fort Ashby.
Jim served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served two tours of duty in Germany and one tour in Vietnam. An avid hunter and fisherman, he had worked at Bausch & Lomb in Oakland for 17 years.
He is survived and sadly missed by his two sisters, Sylvia Paugh, Bayard, and Valerie Allen, Ridgeley; two brothers, Robert Nazelrod, Reedsville and Curt Nazelrod, Keyser; ten nieces and nephews, M.J., Michael, Patrick, Jossette, Carrie, Jenny, Danny, Calvin, Tammy and Cheryl; and several young great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the Mountain Top Christian Assembly of God Church on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Galen D. Hixon officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
Military honors will be accorded by the Garrett County Combined Veterans Group.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the funeral home to help defray the funeral expenses.
NEIL WADE NAZELROD
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Neil Wade Nazelrod, 21, of Fort Ashby, died Oct. 27, 1997.
Born Jan. 2, 1976, in Oakland, he was the son of Mary M. (Railey) Adams, Route 2, Ridgeley, W.Va., and the late James Edwin Nazelrod.
He had been employed at Wal-Mart.
Mr. Nazelrod was a member of the Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Department.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Wesley R. Beahm officiating.

HARRY NELSON
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Harry Nelson, 88, of Petersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.
Born May 30, 1909, in Royal Glen, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jonathan Nelson and Myrtle (Deadrick) Nelson. He also was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
He was an independent bulldozer operator. He owned and operated Nelson's Cottages, Cabins, W.Va., from 1949 to 1985. He was a member of the Grove Street United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Petersburg Lodge No. 145 AF&AM.;
Surviving are his wife, Leta M. (Sites) Nelson, whom he married
on Oct. 27, 1939; two sons, Harry Allen Nelson and wife Mary Jo, Argyle, Texas, and Robert K. Nelson and wife Carolyn, Clifton, Va.; one brother, Edgar Nelson, Cabins; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard L. Longbon officiating.
Interment will be in South Branch Memorial Gardens, Petersburg.
Memorials may be made to the Grove Street United Methodist Church, Petersburg.
OLIN G. RATLIFF
UPPER TRACT, W.Va. - Olin G. Ratliff, 75, of Upper Tract, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at his home.
Born May 30, 1921, at Mozer, he was the son of the late Perry and Lena Susan (Kesner) Ratliff.
Mr. Ratliff was a lifetime farmer, and a trustee of the South Mill Creek Church of the Brethren at Mozer.
Surviving are his wife Lonia (Whetzel) Ratliff, whom he married
on Jan. 24, 1942; one son, Lee Ratliff and wife Grace, Petersburg; two daughters, Evelyn Hevener and husband Dwight, Upper Tract, Melda Kesner and husband Doug, Dorcas; six sisters, Ethel Alt, Pendleton County Nursing Home, Franklin, Ersley Whetzel, Franklin, Hazel Simmons, Franklin, Genevieve May, Maysville, Nancy Mongold, Dorcas, and Vada Mallow of Upper Tract; three brothers, Glen Ratliff, Timberville, Va., Arthur Ratliff, Harrisonburg, Va., and Homer Ratliff, Baltimore; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the South Mill Creek Church of the Brethren on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Otis S. ``Buzz" Weatherholt and the Rev. Robert E. Houff officiating.

CLAUDE G. POWNALL
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Claude Gilmore Pownall, 88, of Romney, died Sunday, March 9, 1997, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Sept. 13, 1908, in Romney, he was the son of the late John Christopher and Louisa Catherine (Greenwalt) Pownall. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lola Gladys (Shanholtz) Pownall; two brothers, John H. and Charles Russell Pownall; one sister, Mabel Hott; two half brothers, Homer and Harry Pownall; and three half sisters, Charlotte Shank, Blaine Hott and Ida Shank.
Mr. Pownall retired from the United States Post Office Department in 1970 with 28 years of service. He served as acting Postmaster of Romney from 1958 to 1962. He also was a retiree from the West Virginia Department of Highways Safety Division and was a gifted finish carpenter. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, Robert W.D. Pownall, Augusta; four daughters, Geraldine H. Daugherty, Little Capon, Norma Lee Clise and Nancy L. Arnold, both of Romney, and Barbara Jean Whelan, Hopatcong, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Sumner D. Sawyers officiating, assisted by the Rev. Calvin McCutcheon.
