MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James A. Brown, 62, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 25, 1937, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Tracey J. and Frances Johnson Brown.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
He is survived by a brother, Tracey J. Brown Jr. of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; and three nephews.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood cemetery in Shepherdstown. The Rev. James Embrey will officiate.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
John D. Eigenbrode
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - John D. Eigenbrode, 88, of Battle Creek, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at his home.
Born Aug. 22, 1911, in Cherry Run, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roy W. and Marcia Weller Eigenbrode.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline E. Troupe Eigenbrode, in 1984. They were married
Sept. 1, 1937.
He was employed by General Foods Corp., retiring in 1974.
He was a member of Post 25 Year Club; American Legion Post 298; DAV Chapter 7; and AMVETS Post 66.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.
He is survived by a daughter, Penny Sue Pack of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Mary E. Ritzler of Battle Creek; three grandchildren, including, Christina M. Bassler, with whom he lived for the last two years; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, 703 Capital Ave. SW in Battle Creek. The Rev. Morris F. Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at noon.

Genevieve I. Ambrose
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Genevieve Irene Ambrose, 80, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born July 13, 1919, in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Hammond R. and Ardella McCoy Spielman.
Her husband, George Kenneth Ambrose, died in 1984.
She attended schools in Morgan County.
She had been employed by Starview Drive-In and Shockey's Grocery in Berkeley Springs.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary.
She is survived by one sister, Emmajean Weber of Falls Church, Va.; one brother, Gerald Lee Spielman of Dundalk, Md.; nieces and nephews, including Wayne and Lila Spielman, with whom she resided.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, George Ronald Ambrose; one sister, Willadean Gregory; and one brother, Kenneth J. Spielman.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St. in Berkeley Springs. Burial will be in Mount Olivet United Methodist Church cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Hugh A. Havermale
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Retired U.S. Army Sgt. Hugh Allen Havermale, 63, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 23, 1937, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Russell Lee and Rose Virginia Pearl Duckwall Hovermale.
He was a 1954 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School; and attended James Rumsey Vocational-Technical Institute.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until his retirement in 1975, with tours of duty in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. His awards included three Purple Hearts, four Bronze Stars, and the Army Commendation Medal.
He was employed as a captain with Pinkerton Security from 1976 to 1984, and retired from the Exxon Station in Clear Spring.
He attended Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483, Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60, Tri-State Honor Guard, Morgan County Chapter 34 D.A.V. and Risinger-Stotler V.F.W. Post 4019, all in Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Drue VanGosen Havermale; one daughter, Lisa Rose Ellen McCumbee of Berkeley Springs; three sons, Ernest Dale Havermale Sr. of Hedgesville, W.Va., Darren Robert Havermale and Steven Allen Havermale, both of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Charlotte Colley of Winchester, Va., and Mary Ellen Bolyard of Grafton, Va.; three brothers, Charles William Hovermale of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Raymond Lee Hovermale of Clear Spring, and Roger Eugene Hovermale of Bridgeville, Del.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis June Speelman.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Revs. Hennis H. Fox and Jim Downey will officiate. Burial with full military honors by Tri-State Honor Guard will be at Greenway cemetery in Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 9 a.m.

Evelyn F. Shackelford
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Evelyn F. Shackelford, 80, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Feb. 20, 1920, in Frederick County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ollie C. and Clara LaFollette Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. Shackelford.
She was a member of Leetown Southern Baptist Church.
She was a member of Vanclevesville Home Extension Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy J. Marshall of Gerrardstown, W.Va., and Mary F. Gesford of Martinsburg; a sister, Dorothy Wetzel of Winchester, Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth L. Shackelford; and a brother, Garland Taylor.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Revs. L. Jack Rudy and John Emert will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
