Charles H. Barker

GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Charles Henry "Jumpy" Barker, 75, of Great Cacapon, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born Jan. 12, 1925, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late John Line and Georgia Mae Weaver Barker.

He attended Great Cacapon Elementary School.

He worked as a trackman for the B&O and CSX railroads for 43 years, retiring in July 1985.

He was a Protestant.

He is survived by three sisters, Mattie E. Gloyd of Orleans Crossroads, W.Va., Pearl V. Sisk of Ridgeley, W.Va., and Betty M. Crouse of Berkeley Springs; a brother, Earl J. Barker of Great Cacapon; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Stinebaugh, and two brothers, Cecil Barker and John L. Barker.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson funeral Home, 306 Union St. in Berkeley Springs. Pastor Steven R. Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Nebo cemetery in Great Cacapon.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 5 p.m.

Daniel R. Simmonds

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Daniel Richard Simmonds, 66, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Dec. 5, 1932, in Mankato, Minn., he was the son of the late Vern and Isla Mae Kleine Simmonds.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Verlee Meissler Simmonds; three daughters, Ricarda Burnett of Long Beach, Calif., Deborah Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dawn Marshall of Austin, Texas; a son, Daniel Richard Simmonds Jr. of Twin Peaks, Calif.; a sister, Diane Conoway of Bloomington, Minn.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son.

A memorial service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Veterans Affairs Hospital Chapel. Chaplain Donald E. LaFaber will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington National cemetery.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Ryan A. Ludwick

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ryan Allen Ludwick, 24, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.

Born June 9, 1975, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of Joyce Barr Ludwick of Martinsburg and the late Cline A. Ludwick III.

He was a 1993 graduate of Hedgesville High School. He was attending West Virginia University.

He was employed by Quad Graphics.

He was a member of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Adam B. Ludwick of Martinsburg; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Barr of Fisher, W.Va.; and paternal grandfather, Cline A. Ludwick Jr. of Moorefield, W.Va.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Tuscarora Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Richard A. Forbes will officiate. Burial will be in Tuscarora cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg.

Memorial donations may be made to Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, 2335 Tuscarora Pike, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Frostie V. King

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Frostie V. King, 85, of Martinsburg, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in Charles Town, W.Va.

Born Sept. 8, 1914, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Robinson Weaver.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas King.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Louise Parker of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Jacob P. Weaver of Martinsburg; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene King.

Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. James E. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery in Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary E. Bentley

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Mary Ellen Bentley, 69, of Charles Town, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Born May 18, 1930, in Lackey, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Clint and Gladys Ratliff Patton.

She is survived by four daughters, JoAnne Turpin, Nonnie Bentley and Allie Potter, all of Charles Town, and Lisa Slone of Garrett, Ky.; three sons, Jerry Bentley, George Bentley and Elmer Bentley, all of Charles Town; two sisters, Deloris Conley of Roswell, N.M., and Betty Jean Dials of Wabash, Ind.; five brothers, Robert Patton, Elmer Patton and Bill Patton, all of Hamilton, Ohio, Otis Patton of Charles Town and Clinton Patton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson, W.Va. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family viewing will be today from 2 to 4 p.m.

Paul E. Sigler Sr.

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Paul Edward "Froggy" Sigler Sr., 75, of Kearneysville, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Born Dec. 4, 1924, in Stanley, Va., he was the son of Myrtle Stoneberger Sigler of Brunswick, Md., and the late Dewey Leonard Sigler Sr.

He was a retired brick mason.

He was a Methodist.

He was a member of Brunswick Ambulance Co. and Brunswick Fire Dept.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Peggy Hilliard Sigler; two daughters, Deborah Cubbage and Darla Alexander, both of Charles Town, W.Va.; two sons, Brian M. Sigler and Paul E. Sigler Jr., both of Kearneysville; two sisters, Elaine Heffner of Petersville, Md., and Mary Manthos of Charles Town; two brothers, Thomas Sigler and Donald Sigler, both of Knoxville, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Sigler; a son, Danny Lee Blosser; a sister, Marie Sigler Pearrell; and a brother, Dewey Sigler Jr.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Union cemetery in Lovettsville, Va.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road in Brunswick, which will open at 9 a.m. on Monday.
