MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Arnold Allen Miller, 86, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born Jan. 24, 1914, in Marlowe, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ernest Allen and Davella Keller Miller.
Prior to his retirement in 1978, he was employed for 20 years by the U.S. General Services Administration as a supervisor of burials at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Washington, D.C.; and by the federal police force at the Internal Revenue Service center in Berkeley County, W.Va.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He was a delegate to Silver Haired Legislature in Charleston, W.Va.; was past commander of American Legion Post 248, Oxen Hill, Md.; past president of Tomahawk Ruritan Club and Back Creek Valley Senior Citizens Satellite; and a member of Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Mae Tedrick Miller; a daughter, Shirley Miller Underwood of Edgewater, Md.; a brother, Raymond S. Miller of Martinsburg; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice S. Shimp.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. William E. Merki will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery with military services by Veterans Combined Honor Guard, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jessica M. Hall
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Jessica Marie Hall, 9, of Route 3, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born July 17, 1990, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of Bret D. and Dana Orye Hall.
She was a fourth-grade student at C. W. Shipley Elementary School at Harpers Ferry and was an honor roll student.
She attended Sunday school at First Baptist Church at Brunswick, Md.
She was a member of Junior Girl Scout Troop 620 at Harpers Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by twin sisters, Jamie and Jenna Hall of Harpers Ferry; paternal grandmother, Brenda Yates of Frederick; paternal grandfather, George Hall Jr. of Frederick; maternal grandparents, Mickey and Pat Orye of Brunswick; paternal great-grandparents, George and Catherine Miles of Buckeystown, Md.; and two great-grandmothers, Rosa Beatty and Naomi Orye, both of Brunswick.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Daniel Spiker will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Edwin D. Keller
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Edwin D. Keller, 84, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, in City Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1915, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Hugh E. and Mabel Kingree Keller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arminta Grimm Keller.
He was retired from Corning Glass Co.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
He was a member of Darkesville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by four sons, Richard H. Keller and Curtis E. Keller, both of Bunker Hill, W.Va., Thomas E. Keller and Donald L. Keller, both of Martinsburg; two sisters. Betty Itnytre and Barbara Dawn Sirbaugh, both of Leesburg, Fla.; a brother, Martin Keller of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Rogers; a brother, Marvin Keller; a grandson and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Dr. Paul L. Flinck and the Rev. David Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Helen M. Hicks
UNGER, W.Va. - Helen Montgomery Hicks, 92, of Unger, and formerly of Arlington, Va., died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
Born Nov. 30, 1907, in Ashburn, Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Julia Garrett Weeks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard David Hicks.
She had worked with C&P Telephone Co., Washington, D.C., as an operator and had been a homemaker in recent years.
She was a Baptist.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Arlene LaFalam of Roseville, Calif., Marsha F. Cox of Unger, and Dottie M. Benson of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two sons, David C. Hicks of Arlington and Leonard E. Hicks of Winchester; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald C. Peacher; three sisters, Erva Southard, Frances Fadilio, and Ruth Weeks; four brothers, Eugene Weeks, Norman Weeks, Gordon Weeks and Billy Weeks; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Robert S. Osborne will officiate. Burial will be in National Memorial Park, Falls Church, Va., at 1:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Rose M. Asfar
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Rose M. Asfar, 83, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs.
Born Nov. 7, 1916, in Long Island City, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Nazareth and Maritza Groonian Loshigian.
During World War II she assisted in making anti-aircraft prisms for the Department of Defense. She owned a dry cleaning business in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had worked at Brooklyn College and she was previously employed by the New York City Welfare Department.
She attended St. Gregory Illuminator Church of American of New York in New York.
She had been active in Morgan County Senior Citizens; the senior Citizens Kitchen Band and a member of AARP.
She is survived by a daughter, Mona DeMarinis of Berkeley Springs; two grandchildren, Maritza Miller and John Paul DeMarinis, both of Berkeley Springs; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Kasparian, and a brother, Henry Losigian.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Owen Womack will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jorge L. Solano Jr.
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Jorge Luis Solano Jr., 36, of Charles Town and formerly of Herndon, Va., died Friday, March 17, 2000, at his home.
Born April 21, 1963, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Jorge L. Solano Sr. of Costa Rica and the late Patricia Eggleston Solano.
He was employed at Cadelora's in Purcellville, Va.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Maureen Bell Solano of Charles Town; a stepson, E.J. Houchins of Charles Town; a sister, Cindy Leathery of Miami; and three brothers, Brad Leathery of Damascus, Md., Jeffrey B. Solano of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Rodney D. Solano of Fairfax, Va.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Chip Leathery.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Douglas Fraim will officiate.
