Genevie K. Evans

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Genevie Kesecker Evans, 82, of Hedgesville, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born Oct. 23, 1917, in Cherry Run, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Maggie Clark Kesecker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Ward Evans.

She is survived by two sons, Robert B. Evans of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Daniel L. Evans of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; two sisters, Vallie Dennis of Leitersburg and Cora DeHaven of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Goldie Pentoney, Blanche Koontz, Lilly Fox, Pearl Helsley and Viola Fox; and three brothers, Ted Kesecker, George Kesecker and Aaron Kesecker.

A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Spohrs Crossroads cemetery in Morgan County, W.Va. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate.

Visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg.

Norma L. McJilton

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Norma L. McJilton, 71, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at her home.

Born Dec. 31, 1927, in Sleepy Creek, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Jeanetta Eckard Silver.

She attended Woodbine Assembly of God.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles P. McJilton; three daughters, Nancy L. Mason of Bunker Hill, W.Va., Rebecca A. Unger of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Regina L. McJilton of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a son, Charles E. McJilton of Bunker Hill; a sister, Charlotte Bohrer of Martinsburg; a brother, George Silver of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two half sisters, Connie Myers of Martinsburg and Phyllis Tinsel of West Virginia; a half brother, Roger Silver of Inwood, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher L. McJilton; a sister, Jeanetta Silver; a brother, Irvin Silver; a half brother, Stephen Silver; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Revs. Garry L. Felton, Noel L. Huffman and Charles C. Unger will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

James W. Long Sr.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - James William Long Sr., 66, of Bloomery Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born May 8, 1933, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert F. Sr. and Alberta Viands Long.

He retired as owner and operator of Long's Excavating.

He was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was a member of Sunday Night Fun Bunch at Shenandoah Lanes of Charles Town.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ethel Dillow Long; five daughters, Pamela Price and Christina Long, both of Charles Town, Florine Lake of Martinsburg, W.Va., Mildred Poole and Elisa Anderson, both of Ranson; six sons, James W. Long Jr. and Roger L. Long, both of Kearneysville, W.Va., Gregory O. Long of Martinsburg, W.Va., Samuel A. Long of Winchester, Va., Patrick F. Long and Dennis W. Long, both of Charles Town; a sister, Willidean V. Payne of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.; a brother, Stanley E. Long of Bakerton, W.Va.; 22 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert F. Long Jr.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mission Tabernacle Holiness Church on Mission Road in Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Lee R. Strickler will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry.

Mary K. Noland

RIPPON, W.Va. - Mary Koontz Noland, 91, of Rippon, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born Oct. 12, 1908, in Thurmont, Md., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Richard G. and Beulah Benson Koontz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Noland Jr., in 1982.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Waldorf, Md.

She is survived by three sons, George E. Noland III of Colonial Beach, Va., Richard B. Noland and William K. Noland, both of Rippon; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Anne Noland.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3235 Leonardtown Road, Waldorf. The Rev. James E. Chance will officiate.

Burial will be private.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town, W.Va.

Freda H. Rhinaman

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Freda Hackworth Rhinaman, 62, of Hedgesville, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Oct. 5, 1937, in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and June Ashworth Hackworth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Rhinaman Sr.

She had worked at 76 Truck Stop as a waitress.

She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church in Marlowe, W.Va.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Sue Crone and Anita Hicks, both of Glen Burnie, Md.; four sons, Charles William Rhinaman of Inwood, W.Va., Robert B. Rhinaman Jr. of Boonsboro, Roger L. Rhinaman of Myersville, Md., and Richard B. Rhinaman; one brother, David Hackworth of the Philippines; special friend, Gerry Rice of Martinsburg; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg will be announced.

Frances V. Kursey

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Frances Virginia Kursey, 87, of Hedgesville, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at her home.

Born Jan. 1, 1912, of Ganotown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Mervel and Laura Kearns Palmer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Kursey.

She was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church in Hedgesville.

She is survived by seven daughters, Madeline Brown of Tomahawk, W.Va., Beulah May Wilk of Hagerstown, Jessie Alsetta Miller of Reading, Pa., Lucille Zubritsky of Goose Creek, S.C., Wilma Myers of Springfield, Va., Linda O'Roke and Faye Stokes, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three sons, Thomas Leo Kursey of Rockville, Md., Charles Kursey of Martinsburg, and Floyd Kursey of Tomahawk; one sister, Anna Belle McKinney of Martinsburg; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Vallie McKinney, Pauline Clark Smith and Charm Kees; and one brother, Lee Palmer.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Tomahawk Christian Church, Route 5, Hedgesville. The Rev. Lee Ashley will officiate. Burial will be in Tomahawk cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The casket will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial donations may be made to Tomahawk Christian Church, Route 5, Box 168, Hedgesville, WV 25427; or to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
