HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Carla F. Lewis, 52, of Hedgesville, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, in City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 19, 1947, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hollis W. and Rose A. Clark DeHaven.
She attended Hedgesville area schools.
She was employed by Wal-Mart of Martinsburg as lead cake decorator. She worked previously at Martin's Food.
She is survived by her husband, William M. Lewis; one daughter, Melissa Reed of Inwood, W.Va.; one son, Glenn Riner of Hedgesville; three sisters, Rosalee Kesecker of Martinsburg, Ruby Markley of Hedgesville and Mabel Sherman of Inwood; three brothers, Calvin DeHaven of Inwood, Paul DeHaven and Allen DeHaven, both of Hedgesville; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Elwood DeHaven.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
John E. Stipp
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - John Edgar "Humpy" Stipp, 94, of Shepherdstown, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1905, in Shepherdstown, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Linda Crowell Stipp.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Carter Stipp and by his second wife, Evelyn Hillard Stipp.
He was a retired equipment operator for the Steel Mills, McKeesport, Pa. and held numerous other jobs in the Shepherdstown area.
He was a member of Marvins Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by three nieces, Dixie Lee Knighten of Shepherdstown, Freda Mullaney of Stephen City, Va. and Linda Dean of Martinsburg, W.Va. and four stepchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood cemetery, Shepherdstown. The Rev. Dennis R. Jackman will officiate.
Friends may visit today at the Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
Yvette N. Miller
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Yvette Naomi Miller, 36, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born April 17, 1963, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Russell C. and Lula M. Carter Miller of Hedgesville, W.Va.
She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Greenbelt, Md. and Washington Business College, Washington, D.C.
She was a member of Serenity Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one son, Darnell Miller, who resides with his grandparents in Hedgesville; three sisters, Robin Miller of Atlanta, Shirl Miller and Lynn Miller, both of Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. William Linthicum will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will gather at the home of Russell Miller in Hedgesville one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Edward J. Harrison
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Edward Joseph Harrison, 81, of Shepherdstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at his home.
Born Dec. 23, 1917, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late James Lowery and Josephine Elizabeth Bindok Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwyneth Bridgid Thomas Harrison.
He was a past employee of Westinghouse/CGR, where he was a machinist.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He served with the 116th Tank Battalion and the 16th Armored Division.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a member of VFW Post 896 and American Legion Post 14.
He was active with Shepherdstown Historical Society and an active participant in the restoration of The Entler Hotel.
He is survived by a daughter, Marye Harrison of Baltimore; two grandchildren, Jon Harrison of Havre de Grace, Md., and Rosemarye Ranck of Hudson, N.H.; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James L. Harrison.
Services will be held at a later date.

Joseph F. W. Mauk Sr.
RANSON, W.Va. - Joseph F. W. Mauk Sr., 80, of Ranson, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born March 22, 1919, in Green Spring, W.Va., he was the son of the late Frederick Cleveland and Mary Alice Shingleton Mauk.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa C. Martin Mauk.
He retired from Powhatan.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart in Holland.
He was a member of United Methodist Church of Augusta; and attended Charles Town Baptist Church.
He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose 948; VFW Post 34522; American Legion 71; and served as a volunteer honor guard member.
He is survived by three sons, Joseph F. W. Mauk Jr. and Benton E. Mauk, both of Middleway, W.Va., and Thomas E. Mauk of Fredericksburg, Va.; three sisters, Audrey A. Toothman of Fairmont, W.Va., Martha E. Jackson of Romney, W.Va., and Alice M. Villinger of Fairmont, W.Va.; a brother, Stanley E. Mauk of Romney; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred L. Haines.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson. Dr. Wyman E. Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
