HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Jo Ann Shank, 50, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born July 25, 1949, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of Evelyn Donivan Adams Barrett of Inwood, W.Va. and the late Avery Adams and stepfather, Melvin L. Barrett.
She was employed by Royal Vendors.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Kenneth G. Shank Sr.; a daughter, Amanda J. Shank at home; a son, Kenneth G. Shank Jr. at home; a sister, Gloria J. Stallworth of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and a brother, Gary M. Barrett of Frederick, Md.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy L. Michaels.
Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Pastor Max E. Silver will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Irvin G. Hess
INWOOD, W.Va. - Irvin Glenhue Hess, 82, of Inwood, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 19, 1917, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clarence M. and Mary Lewis Hess.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Hovermale Hess.
He was a retired orchardist and farmer.
He attended Martinsburg Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Hunter Hess; a niece, whom he raised, Wanda Light of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Bennett of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a sister, Reva Butts of Inwood; a brother, Garnett Hess of Martinsburg; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran cemetery at Arden. The Rev. Harold O. Snyder will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Lawrence H. Muesing
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Lawrence H. Muesing, 75, of Woods Resort, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 1, 1924, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Charles and Louise Roessner Muesing.
He attended John Herron Art Institute, Indiana University; and The Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology.
He was employed as a package designer at Container Corporation of America; and Sears Roebuck Co. He then joined the faculty of The Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology and taught a course in graphics and package imaging at the University of Chicago. He established Lawrence Muesing Design.
A veteran of World War II, he serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Pacific.
He attended Hedges Chapel in Hedgesville. He was a member and deacon of Winnetka Presbyterian Church and a member of Winnetka Bible Church in Illinois.
He received 28 awards from the Package Designers Council; Society of Typographic Arts; American Institute of Graphic Arts; The Art Directors Club of Chicago, and New York; and The National Hardware Institute. His work was published in national and international publications.
He presented workshops for the National Packaging Institute Expo. at McCormick Place in Chicago and judged the E.I. Dupont National Packaging Student Competition at Illinois Institute of Technology.
He was a volunteer Young Life leader at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., served on North Shore Young Life Committee; and was a board member of The Society of Typographic Arts.
He is survived by his wife, Merilyn Solem Muesing; a daughter, Alison K. Muesing of Lausanne, Switzerland; and a son, Lawrence H. Muesing II of Charlotte, N.C.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Hedges Chapel Church. The Rev. Donald Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Hedges Chapel cemetery, The Woods, Hedgesville.

Gladys M. Bageant
SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Gladys May Bageant, 70, of Fourth Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born Sept. 29, 1929, in Engle, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel Frazier Kranenberg.
She was a Methodist.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lester "Tom" Bageant; five sons, Thomas L. Bageant of Marion, Ark., Richard L. Bageant of Martinsburg, W.Va., Jerry E. Bageant of Shenandoah Junction, Randy W. Bageant of Engle and Robert Bageant of Kearneysville, W.Va.; a sister, Virginia Turner of Kearneysville; five brothers, Austin Kranenberg, Carl Kranenberg and Curt Kranenberg, all of Ranson, W.Va., Ted Kranenberg of Fox Glen, W.Va., and David Kranenberg of Charles Town, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Kranenberg; and a brother, Gilbert Kranenberg.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Douglas Fraim will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran cemetery, Bolivar, W.Va.

Thomas H. Jones
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Thomas Henry Jones, 89, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born March 19, 1910, in Summit Point, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thomas Randolph and Axia Berry Jones.
He was a farmer and retired orchard worker.
He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Charles Town.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy O. Jones; five daughters, Alberta McElveen of Sterling, Va., Lucy Allen and Betty Jane Taylor, both of Charles Town, Esther Beaner of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., and Mary Embry of Newport News, Va.; two sons, James Jones and John Jones, both of Baltimore; a sister, Lydia Smith of Charles Town; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Jones and William Jones; two sisters, Edmonia Jones and Julie Jones; and four brothers, Alfred Jones, Richard Jones, Ernie Jones and Edward Jones.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church, 801 Martin Luther King Ave., Charles Town. The Rev. Abner Carey Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Irvin R. Butler
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Irvin Roy Butler, 81, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Winchester Rehabilitation Center.
Born Feb. 15, 1918, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Elijah Irvin and Leona Roberts Butler.
He was retired from General Motors.
He attended Bethel Assembly of God Church.
He was a member of Local 1590 of United Auto Workers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian F. Williams Butler; one son, James Irvin Butler of Martinsburg; one sister, Mary Lee Wasson; one granddaughter; one grandson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Nelson D. Butler.
