MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Beulah Dale Sampson Weidman, 74, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 12, 1925, in Allensville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Bertha French Sampson.
She was a longtime member of Allensville Church of the Brethren, where she had formerly served as president of the Ladies Aid, adviser to the Youth Fellowship and a member of the Church Council. She was a church archivist and helped compile past church history.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Lee Weidman Sr.; one daughter, Sharon Griffith of Hagerstown; one son, William D. Moore of Martinsburg; four stepsons, Ernest Weidman Jr., Terrance Weidman, Roger Weidman and Dwight Weidman; one sister, Gloria Ambrose of Martinsburg; one brother, Lloyd Sampson of Martinsburg; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husbands, William H. Moore and Sherman Earl Snyder and one son, Gary W. Snyder.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Charles W. Green will officiate. Burial will be in Allensville cemetery, west of Hedgesville, W.Va.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Eugene M. Moore
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Eugene M. Moore, 71, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at the Depatment of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born March 25, 1928, in Warrenton, Va., he was the son of the late Flurry M. and Susie Gray Moore.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW and DAV.
He is survived by one daughter, Andrea Moore Piorvanti of Winchester, Va.; two sons, Thomas Moore and William Moore; one sister, Dorothy Graves of Warrenton; one brother, Donald Moore of Levittown, N.Y.; six grandchildren and a close friend, Lillian E. Barning Moore.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. John Prattarola will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Verle A. Boose
BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Verle A. Boose, 76, of Bunker Hill, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born Sept. 17, 1923, in York, Pa., he was the son of the late John Henry and Esther Moose Boose.
He was retired from Tracor, formerly Vitro.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.
He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church.
He was a member of St. Leo's Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Steinhauer Boose; one daughter, Shirley Boose McLaughlin of Conifer, Colo.; two sons, David Boose of Georgetown, Texas, and John H. Boose of Bellevue, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Boose and Levere Boose.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis Kleinmann will officiate. Interment prayers will be said at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gate of Heaven cemetery, Silver Spring, Md.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
Edward H. Braxton
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Edward Henry Braxton, 90, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Shenandoah Health Village Center, Charles Town.
Born Feb. 28, 1909, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edward and Fannie Mason Braxton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alyce Virginia Bradford Braxton, who died March 6, 1999.
He and his brother owned and operated Braxton Brothers Garage in Ranson, W.Va., for more than 50 years. He was also employed at Charles Town Races and the Old Shenandoah Downs Race Track.
He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Charles Town, and served as trustee of the church.
He served on the Charles Town City Council for 30 years.
He was a member of Zenith Club, Charles Town.
He is survived by two daughters, Fonda V. Jackson of Charles Town and Vivian M. Mitchell of Herndon, Va.; two sisters, Alma Fox of Integrated Health Services of West Virginia and Thelma Clay of Charles Town; five grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Clinton and Patsy Jackson, and three brothers, Daniel L. Braxton, Francis Braxton and Cromwell Hall.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church, 801 Martin Luther King Ave., Charles Town. The Rev. Abner Carey will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Garden, Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Alvin A. Rodis
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Alvin A. Rodis, 69, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born Sept. 30, 1930, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Louis and Ida Goldberg Rodis.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a first lieutenant during the Korean War.
He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church.
He was a member of American Legion Post 14.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dessie Tomlin Rodis; one daughter, Amber Nicole Rodis at home; a son, Louis A. Rodis at home; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marilynn Rodis.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Covenant Baptist Church. The Rev. Joe Eversole and the Rev. Ron Larson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel.

Leonard E. Poffenberger
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Leonard E. "Shorty" Poffenberger, 75, of Route 3, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg.
Born Feb. 22, 1924, in Keedysville, Md., he was the son of the late Owen E. and Bertha E. Jones Poffenberger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca L. Long Poffenberger, in 1980.
He worked for Maryland Maid Kitchens, Hagerstown, and after retiring he worked at Dunkin Donuts as a porter.
He was a veteran in the U.S. Army, having served in World War II in Austria.
He is survived by two sons, John M. Poffenberger of Martinsburg and Donald L. Poffenberger of Schninger, Germany.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Erma Bowlus, Margie Corder, Alica Poffenberger, Agnes Howser and Isabell Watkins, and two brothers, Ira Poffenberger and Clarence Poffenberger.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. James L. McMahan will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Keedysville.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
