MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Philip Keith Epperson, 36, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born May 9, 1963, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Joseph K. and Barbara Bowers Epperson of Martinsburg.
He was a Martinsburg city carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a member of Independent Bible Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Kameron Epperson of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Kevin W. Epperson of Martinsburg; his grandfather, Earl Bowers of Martinsburg; and nieces and nephews.
A service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Curtis T. Lowry will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
John P. Mann
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - John Philip "Jack" Mann, 65, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at his home.
Born Nov. 18, 1933, in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Thomas Patrick and Lillian Melissa Wise Mann.
He was a 1951 graduate of Coolidge High School.
He worked as an industrial service technician with Washington Gas Light Company, retiring in 1990.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruby Mansfield Thompson Mann; a son, John Philip Mann Jr. of Beltsville, Md.; two daughters, Bonnie L. Bragaw of Beltsville and Kelly Marie Mann of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Betty Roberge of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Thomas P. Mann Jr. of Lancaster, Calif., and Michael Mann of Mitchellville, Md.; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Mann.
A graveside service will be private at Green Hill cemetery in Waynesboro, Pa.

Martha V. Kerns
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martha Virginia Orndorff Kerns, 89, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born May 26, 1910, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Angelo Grandstaff Orndorff and Sepha Keller Orndorff.
Her husband, Paul R. Kerns, preceded her in death.
She worked at Interwoven as a knitter and at National Fruit.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Martinsburg.
She was a volunteer for the Veterans Administration Hospital.
She was a member of a bowling team at Pikeside Bowling Alley, and VFW Post 896.
She is survived by two half sisters, Annie Custer and Elsie Morrow, both of Martinsburg.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Burman T. Orndorff; and a half-sister, Ruth Ross.
Graveside services will be today at Rosedale cemetery.
Arrangements are by Rosedale Funeral Chapel.
Chester F. Williams
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Chester Franklin Williams, 70, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Oct. 11, 1928, in Michigan, he was the son of the late Chester Williams and Lucille Williams Kaley.
He retired from Orkin Exterminating Co.
He was a member of Montrose Baptist Church in Rockville, Md.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Stout Williams; a daughter, Sandra Moore of Walkersville, Md.; a stepson, Gary Brown of Martinsburg; a sister, Marie Weiss of Florida; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mary A. Grubb
RIDGEWAY, W.Va. - Mary Ann Grubb, 77, of Ridgeway, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Hilltop Home for Adults in Winchester, Va.
Born Sept. 25, 1922, in Gerrardstown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Hunter and Alice Hite Triggs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus McKinley Grubb.
She and her husband owned and operated Grubb's Market in Ridgeway. She had been employed by Interwoven Mills and Leggett's Department Store in Winchester.
She was a member of Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren.
She was a member of Bunker Hill Homemakers. She and her husband started Berkeley Burial Association.
She is survived by four daughters, Alice Kenney of Winchester, Nelda Williams of Inwood, W.Va., Mary Ann Durst of Pikeside, W.Va., and Benita K. Fink of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one son, Cyrus M. Grubb II of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; three sisters, Catherine Hareford and Nevada Albin, both of Charles Town, W.Va., and Marjorie Miller of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Beulah Butts, Estella Bryant, Olive Palmer and Naomi McCusker; and two brothers, Walter Triggs and Howard Triggs.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren. The Revs. Eddie Edmonds and Mark Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.
The casket will be taken to the church one hour prior to service on Sunday.

Robert G. Biggs
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Robert Glen Biggs, 61, of Walnut Grove, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Va.
Born Jan. 18, 1938, in Russell County, Va., he was the son of the late Elmer and Margaret Bradley Biggs.
He was the superintendent of William A. Hazel Inc. in Chantilly, Va., for 26 years.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ellen E. Hostler Biggs; two daughters, Donna Alger of Ranson, W.Va., and Pamela Staubs of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; a son, Robert G. Biggs Jr. of Harpers Ferry; two sisters, Ola Jennings of Charles Town and Faye Owens of Spotsylvania, Va.; two brothers, Thurmon Biggs of Virginia and James Biggs of Maryland; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Zola Powell.
Service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Bruce Singhas will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.
