MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Arthur F. Gellner, 83, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Oct. 5, 1915, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Elizabeth Ruppert Gellner.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Mackay Gellner.
He was a retired auditor for the Supreme Lodge of the Moose.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was a member of Lodge No. 271 Loyal Order of the Moose in Cumberland.
He is survived by his wife, Mida Miller Gellner; a daughter, Sharon E. Woullard of Pasadena, Md.; a son, C. Arthur Gellner of Lake Charles, La.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman J. Gellner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. will be celebrant. Burial prayers will be in St. Peters and Paul Cemetery, Cumberland.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
The family will meet Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home before going to the church.
Elsie F. Kershner
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Elsie Frances Weaver Kershner, 85, of Berkeley Springs, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Friday, June 18, 1999 at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur "Tucker" Exline and her second husband, Paul B. Kershner.
She was employed by Chessie System Credit Union in Hagerstown, retiring in 1986.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Doris L. Kesecker of Berkeley Springs; one granddaughter, Nancy L. Pearse of Chesterfield, Va.; and three great-granddaughters.
Services will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Private graveside services and burial will be in Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Warfordsburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday for the convenience of friends.

Theodore A. Ganoe
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Theodore A. "Pete" Ganoe, 68, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at his home.
Born July 30, 1930, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Albert Walton and Eva Leona Yost Ganoe.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E. Plummer Ganoe Pugh.
He attended Berkeley Springs public schools.
For many years, he was an orderly at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs. He then worked on the assembly line at Prowler Industries in Hancock.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He served with the Morgan County Deputy Reserve Unit; and was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics Council No. 117, Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his second wife, Lena May Hull Ganoe; two daughters, Evelyn L. Harden and Ruth E. Stotler, both of Berkeley Springs; a stepson, Lynn Robert Sheppard of Inwood, W.Va.; a sister, May M. Parrill of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Melvin W. Ganoe of Greencastle, Pa., and Albert A. Ganoe of Clarksburg, W.Va.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen E. Ganoe; and a brother, Vernon E. Ganoe.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Harden Family Cemetery, New Hope, W.Va.

Virginia M. Whitacre
BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Virginia M. Whitacre, 78, of Bunker Hill, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, at her home.
Born Aug. 9, 1920, in Kearneysville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Milton Fred and Mabel Reinhart Miller.
She was a 1938 graduate of Shepherdstown High School and a graduate of Shepherd College.
She retired as a teacher in Frederick County, Va., schools. She spent most of her career at Stonewall Elementary School in Clearbrook, Va.
She was a member of Rest United Methodist Church, Frederick County.
She is survived by her husband, George E. Whitacre; two daughters, Dixie Hefner of Cleveland and Priscilla Jackson of Bunker Hill; a sister, Florence Sidney Seibert of Toms Brook, Va.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Tim Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Cemetery, Frederick County.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
James E. Crawford
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - James Earl Crawford, 67, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia.
Born April 30, 1932, in Gerrardstown, W.Va., he was the son of the late John and Minnie Alice James Crawford.
He was an orchard worker.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Burner Crawford; and a daughter, Lisa Paula Crawford of Keyser, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Crawford.
Services will be private.

Susan E. Whittington
BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Susan Elizabeth Whittington, 97, of Bunker Hill, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Care Haven of Berkeley in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born May 21, 1902, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ring Whittington.
She was formerly employed by the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
She was a member of Berkeley Station Bible Church and had taught Sunday School there.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Sharon Snyder, Shirley D. Riggs and JoAnn Worley.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert S. Whittington, William S. Whittington and Bernard N. Whittington; and a sister, Beatrice May.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Frazier Worley, her nephew, will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
