HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Luther Floyd Vinoski, 55, of John Brown's Farm, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Sept. 24, 1943, in Fork Ridge, Tenn., he was the son of the late John and Stella Robinson Vinoski.
He was a graduate of Henderson-Settlement High School, Lexington, Tenn.
Since 1963, he and his brothers, owned and operated Loudoun Optical Company, Leesburg, Va.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby E. Anderson Vinoski, whom he married
in 1969; a daughter, Melissa Elliott of Charles Town, W.Va.; a son, Matthew D. Vinoski at home; two sisters, Carmen Cerbantes of Sterling, Va., and Eleanor McGaha of Charles Town, W.Va.; and two brothers, Joe Vinoski of Leesburg and Monty Vinoski of Charles Town.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Fountain.
Memorial services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at 31491 River Drive, Harpers Ferry. Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation.

Esther L. Crawford
KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Esther L. Crawford, 77, of Kearneysville, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Jan. 12, 1922, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Minnie James Crawford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Crawford.
She is survived by a daughter, Gladys Walker of Summit Point, W.Va., four sons, Robert Crawford, Richard Crawford and Donald Crawford, all of Kearneysville and Junior Lee Crawford of Summit Point; a sister, Margaret LaFollett of Kearneysville; a brother, James Crawford of Ranson; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Betty Faircloth, whom she raised.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Fannie Albright and Eleanor Crawford; and two brothers, Frank Crawford and Joseph Crawford.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Jimmy Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery at Arden.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
George E. Clark
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - George Esten Clark, 67, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Oct. 29, 1931, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late James W. and Viola Fredman Clark.
He retired as a licensed funeral director and embalmer in California.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Air Force.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of Moose Lodge and American Legion in Hawthorne, Nev.
He is survived by a daughter, Michelle Podhajsky of Georgetown, Texas; a sister, Kay M. Litten of Hedgesville; and a grandson, Justin Sewell of Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Robert Clark and Jack Dennis Clark.
There will be no viewing or service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

Lester A. Brown
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lester A. Brown, 88, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Feb. 25, 1911, in Rocky Grove, Pa., he was the son of the late Fred and Ethel Gibbons Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Love Brown.
He retired and moved to Hedgesville, W.Va., the Cherry Run area, in 1974. He was a coal miner at Windsor Heights, W.Va., from 1936 to 1965 and was maintenance engineer at Park Berkshire Apartments in Forrestville, Md. from 1965 until his retirement.
He is survived by three grandchildren, including Lester David Brown, with whom he lived; a sister, Beatrice Brown-Parsons of Beaver, Pa.; a brother, Leonard Brown of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his only child, Lester "Sonny" Brown; and a brother, Robert Brown.
Graveside services will be Saturday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Morgan County, W.Va. The Rev. Terri S. Cofiell will officiate.

Mary S. Bowers
CROSSVILLE, Tenn. - Mary Susan Bowers, 92, of Stone Loop, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999.
Born Aug. 27, 1906, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel E. Miller Hodges.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bowers.
She was an Avon saleswoman.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Maitland of Crossville and Sally Aldrich of Bloomington, Ill.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Sally Morgan, Josephine Pfaltzgraph and Evelyn Hodges.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale cemetery. The Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.
Dorothy A. Hanak
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Dorothy Abigail Hanak, 62, of Shepherdstown and formerly of Joplin and Independence, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Nov. 15, 1936, in Manhattan, Kan., she was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy A. Rosencrans Donnelly.
She was a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a degree in French. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi social sorority.
She was employed as an administrative associate at Fannie Mae, the former Federal National Mortgage Association.
She served as president of Shepherdstown branch of the American Association of University Women.
She was active in local, state and national campaigns of the Republican Party.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Walter K. Hanak; three daughters, Catherine G. Miller of Shepherdstown, Theresa M. Petrey of Little Rock, Ark., and Cynthia H. Hunter of Williamsburg, Va.; a son, Major David W. Hanak of Shaw AFB, S.C.; two brothers, John Donnelly of Bloomfield, Mich., and James Donnelly of Kansas City, Mo.; a granddaughter; and three grandsons.
A divine Byzantine Catholic Liturgy will be concelebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown. A panachida will be offered Monday at 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The Very Rev. Conan Timony and the Rev. Robert F. Oravetz will be celebrants. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A parastas will be offered Sunday evening.
