CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Jane Elizabeth Mercer, 66, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at her home.
Born Jan. 20, 1933, in Gaylord, Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Nina A. Zombro Leake.
She retired from Lorilynn Dress Factory in Ranson, W.Va.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donald Mercer; a daughter, Kay Boyd of Charles Town; three sisters, Kathleen Lill of Silver Spring, Md., Mary Carson of Ranson and Judy Bayer of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Leake of Ranson and Robert Leake of Martinsburg; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Pamela Ann Mercer; and two brothers, William Leake and Billy Dorch Leake.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Charles W. Warnick Sr.
KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Charles William Warnick Sr., 71, of Kearneysville, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born July 29, 1927, in Kitzmiller, Md., he was the son of the late William Troxell and Iva Pearl Paugh Warnick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl S. Stonebraker.
He was a retired machinist with Badger-Powhatan Co. in Ranson, W.Va.
He was a member of Jackson-Perks Post 71 of American Legion in Charles Town, W.Va.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by two sons, Charles W. Warnick Jr. of Gladehill, Va., and Kevin W. Warnick Sr. of Kearneysville; a sister, Patricia Cook of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Albert Warnick of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Warnick.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Richard E. Neal will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.

LeRoy Kief
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - LeRoy Kief, 80, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at City Hospital of Martinsburg.
Born Feb. 7, 1918, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late George Dallas and Bessie Mason Kief.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Shade Kief.
He retired from 3 M Co., and formerly was employed at Thorn Lumber Co.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Vanville Church of Christ.
He was a member of Commercial Travelers.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Custer Linton Kief; a daughter, Marge Evans of Wheatfield, Ind.; a son, G. Gene Shade of Martinsburg; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Cleaver of Martinsburg; a brother, Herbert Kief of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Barthlow; and eight brothers, Allen Kief, William Kief, Bruce Kief, Merval Kief, Gilbert Kief, Eugene Kief, Carl Kief and Arnold Kief.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Thomas J. Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel cemetery, Frederick County, Va.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - T. Fred Noble, 73, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at his home.
Born April 22, 1925, in New Market, Iowa, he was the son of the late Walter Glenn and Zetta Lenore Herren Noble.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Berkeley LeMaster Noble.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and its finance committee.
He was on the original staff at GSA responsible for establishing federal management procurement regulations. In June 1972, he received the Meritorious Services Award for his efforts in implementing the act on a government-wide basis.
He worked for the federal government for 27 years. He developed the GSA-ADP Sharegram.
The first data processing installations that were established by the U.S. Army in the Far East came under his responsibilities as chief, ADP Management Branch, Zama, Japan.
He was founder and past president of Federal ADP Users Group (GADPUG); and was co-founder and president of MARBLE Computer, Inc., Martinsburg.
He was on the board of directors of West Virginia's Software Valley Corp.
He was a member of Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce; AARP; an honorary member of State Board of Directors, Software Valley; board of directors-Eastern Gateway Chapter of Software Valley; past president and secretary of Tuscarora Ruritan Club, Martinsburg; West Virginia Farm Bureau of Berkeley County; Federation of Government Information Processing Council; National Association of Retired Federal Employees, FGIPC, Industry Advisory Council of Washington, D.C.; Software Maintenance Association, New York; BOD;

Noble of Prairie City, Iowa; a foster brother, John D. Herren of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Dr. G. Edward Grove and the Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery with masonic graveside services by Equality Lodge 44 AF & AM.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Paul Herbert Bowen, 67, of 151 Augustine Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born May 25, 1931, in Duffield, Va., he was the son of the late Henry Ray and Minnie Peterson Bowen.
He was a retired supervisor with the National Capitol Parks and Planning Commission.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one daughter, Lois Faye Zimmerman of Haughton, La.; four sons, Paul D. Bowen of Frederick, Md., Thomas L. Bowen of Fort Collins, Colo., Mitchell E. Bowen of Walkersville, Md., and Henry R. Bowen of Smithsburg; one sister, Margaret Lang of Gate City, Va.; one brother, Fred Bowen of Richmond, Va.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis I. Bowen; and sisters and brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Petersville, Md. The Rev. Edward A. Jordan will officiate. Burial will be private.
