MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James J. Kyne, 67, of Martinsburg, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 27, 1932, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late George H. and Gladys Michael Kyne.
He was employed for 40 years by W.S. Frey, where he worked as maintenance leader.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He attended St. Agnes Catholic Church in Shepherdstown, W.Va.
He was a member of Berkeley Post 60, American Legion; Newton D. Baker Post 4019, VFW; and Berkeley Springs Lodge 1483, Loyal Order of the Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Yost Kyne; a daughter, Phyllis Hovermale of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a sister, Gladys Sword of Hagerstown; two brothers, Vincent L. Kyne of Berkeley Springs and Mack Kyne of Martinsburg; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary E. Fredmen and Margaret Rankin; and five brothers, Vernon Kyne, George Kyne, Robert Kyne, Alfred Kyne and John Kyne.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Matthew T. Rowgh will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a vigil service beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Lydia E. Whitacre
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lydia E. Whitacre, 76, of Martinsburg, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born July 4, 1922, in Columbia Furnace, Va., she was the daughter of the late Perry and Vembia Sine Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Whitacre.
She formerly owned and operated Whitacre Grocery Store and Farm Operations, and worked for Perfection Garment as a seamstress. She worked at various other stores in Berkeley and Jefferson counties.
She was a foster parent.
She was a member of Middleway Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, George O. Whitacre of Katy, Texas, Bruce F. Whitacre of Charles Town, W.Va. and Timothy A. Whitacre of Lisbon, Conn.; a sister, Gladys Lewis of Inwood, W.Va.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Williams; and a stepbrother, Joe Shipp.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Charles L. Frum will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Patricia Drake. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove cemetery, Whitacre, Va.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rosalie K. Lloyd
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Rosalie K. Lloyd, 88, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 29, 1910, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Columbus and Martha A. Roeder LaRue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Horace Lloyd.
She retired from Hecht's department store, where she was a sales manager.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Riker and Grace Kelley, both of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Boswell; two sons, William Lloyd and Ronald Lloyd; seven sisters, Louise LaRue, Mary Elizabeth LaRue, Pearl LaNovel, Ella Powell, Maude Copenhaver, Anna Broyles and Helen Keller; and four brothers, George LaRue, William LaRue, Robert LaRue and Woodrow LaRue.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. will be celebrant. Burial prayers will be in Cedar Hill cemetery, Suitland, Md.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, where a vigil service will be held at 8:15 p.m.
The family will meet Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home before going to the church.
Edith B. Psillas
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Edith Belle Psillas, 94, of Charles Town, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Shenandoah Health Village Center, Charles Town.
Born April 17, 1904, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George D. and Edith Maus Baumgardner.
She was a graduate of Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore.
She was a retired registered nurse, and was Jefferson County Health Nurse during World War II. She helped to organize the Civil Defense and Red Cross programs in Jefferson County.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, and Make Today Count.
She was a former member of Circle No. 2 and Women's Christian Aglow.
She is survived by two stepsons, William G. Psillas of Hagerstown and Dr. Kenneth L. Psillas of Charles Town; six stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George L. Baumgardner.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.
There will be no visitation.

Vincent E. Collis
SHANGHAI, W.Va. - Vincent Eugene Collis, 76, of Shanghai, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at his home.
Born March 23, 1923, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late John E. and Esther Prather Collis.
He was a 1941 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He was a diesel mechanic by trade.
He was a member and past elder of Central Chapel of Ganotown, W.Va., where he was a member of the choir and a Sunday school superintendent.
He was a member of Back Creek Valley Council 15; Junior Order of United American Mechanics and was financial secretary.
He is survived by his wife, M. Madeline Frye Collis; three daughters, Donna Gess of Omaha, Neb., and Nancy Miller and Tracy Alderman, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sons, Dan Collis of Bunker Hill and Joey Collis of Glengary, W.Va.; two sisters, Geraldine Marshall of Inwood, W.Va., and Patsy Gageby of Ganotown; five brothers, Melvin Collis and Kenneth Collis, both of Inwood, Leonard Collis and Glenville Collis, both of Bunker Hill, and John E. Collis Jr. of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Dunham and Frances Parsons; and a brother, Richard Collis.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Central Chapel. The Revs. Frank Douty and Irvin Shultz will officiate. Burial will be in Central Chapel cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Back Creek Valley Council 15, J.O.U.A.M. will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
