SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Donal I. Kidder, 79, of Shepherdstown, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was employed by Calspan, formerly Cornell Aeronautical Co., in Buffalo, N.Y., retiring in 1985. He also worked for Lockheed Overseas Corp. in the London area as a radar and radio technician supporting the free Polish Air Force, from 1941 to 1943 and was transferred to the 403rd Air Depot, Belfast, Northern Ireland, until June 1944, where he repaired electronic equipment on aircraft being ferried to the United Kingdom.
He served in the U.S. Army from June 1944 to 1946.
He was a member of Disabled Veterans of America.
He is survived by his wife, Lilian Rhodes Kidder, whom he married
in 1942; a daughter, Diane Cushing of Shepherdstown; and twin brothers, Alan Kidder and Alvin Kidder, both of the Buffalo area.
Services will be private. Burial will be in New York state.

Nelle C. Smith
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Nelle Catherine Brewer Smith, 92, of Charles Town, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Williamsport Retirement Village.
Born June 4, 1906, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John S. and Nelle Chritzman Brewer.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, J. Walter McKee.
Her second husband, S. Preston "Red" Smith Jr., died in 1993.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen L. Orr of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Mildred Smith McKay of San Antonio; a granddaughter, Kimberly Diffenderfer; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Amelia Smith Yowell; two sisters, Helen Fochtman and Emma Elliott; and four brothers, Topper, John, Fred and Harold Brewer.
Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town. The Rev. Manning Lee Smith will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Florence M. Terwilleger
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Florence M. Terwilleger, 94, of Martinsburg and Canterbury in Shepherdstown, and formerly of Cincinnati, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born June 24, 1904, in Clarksburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Margaret Jones Ruff Herwick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Terwilleger; and her first husband, Ben Lee West.
She was a singer and voice coach.
She was an active community leader.
She is survived by a daughter, June B. West of Martinsburg.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Rene West.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, Ky.

Joseph Fisher
MONTGOMERY, W.Va. - Joseph Fisher, 72, of 1007 Second Ave., died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in Montgomery, of injuries sustained in a pedestrian-train accident.
Born Nov. 9, 1926, in Wissinoming, Pa., he was the son of the late Owen L. and Florence Poffenberger Fisher.
He was a graduate of Youngwood (Pa.) High School. He received his doctorate in chemistry from Rensselaer Poly Technical Institute in Troy, N.Y.
He was a professor of chemistry at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. In 1965 he was named chairman of the chemistry department at the West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery, where he taught until retiring in 1989.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with Fourth Platoon, Occupation Field Artillery. He was appointed to Gen. Douglas McArthur's honor guard at Dai Ichi Building, Tokyo, Japan.
He is survived by four sisters, Elizabeth Seuffert of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Kathleen Ammon of Orange City, Fla., Florence Fisher of Bethesda, Md., and Charlotte Rutter of Greensburg, Pa.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Pa. The Rev. Michael R. Brendle will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa.
There will be no viewing.
Erica E. Mason
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Erica Elizabeth Mason, 21, of Martinsburg, died Friday, April 2, 1999, in Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Va.
Born April 26, 1977, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of Jerry Robinson and Kathy Mason, both of Martinsburg.
She was a 1995 graduate of Hedgesville High School.
She was employed at AB&C in Ranson, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Geraldine Mason of Martinsburg; paternal grandfather, Donald G. Robinson of Martinsburg; one brother, Shawn Mason of Martinsburg, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Thomas Boggess will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
James W. Bowers
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James W. "Jack" Bowers, 92, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born Nov. 22, 1906, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Charles and Minerva Dick Bowers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Keefe Bowers, whom he married
in 1928.
He was a 1927 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He retired in 1968 from Martin Marietta after 40 years.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Bowers Dailey of Martinsburg; one son, Dr. Timothy Keefe Bowers of Martinsburg; three sisters, Jessee Bowers of Des Moines, Iowa, Mary Ruth Doman of Rock Oak, Va., and Margaret Bowers of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, June Sullivan; and three brothers, Bruce Bowers, John Bowers and Kenneth Bowers.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill cemetery. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate.
