MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gertrude S. Spiker, 86, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
She was the daughter of the late Harry Hamilton and Anna Rebecca Byers Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Nelson Spiker.
She retired as a sewer from Perfection Garment Co.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Philathea Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Glover of Martinsburg; a brother, Issac Hamilton Simpson; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary V. Kisner, Blanche Busey, Ella Rose Sauerwein and Juanita Custer; a brother, Curtis Simpson; and a grandson, Scott Forster Glover.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jacqueline A. Alston
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jacqueline A. Alston, 30, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Jan. 10, 1969, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of James Alston of Washington, D.C., and the late Gloria Johnston Alston.
She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
In addition to her father, she is survived by a daughter, Porsche Alston at home; two sisters, Janet Alston of Martinsburg and Brenda Rose of Maryland; and three brothers, Bernard Poteat of Washington, D.C., Michael Poteat of Australia and James Alston Jr. of Maryland.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alfred E. Statesman will officiate. Burial will be private.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
Tabitha M. Lemaster
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Tabitha Marie Lemaster, infant daughter of Todd B. and Sharon Kinkead Lemaster, of Hedgesville, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Mary L. and John R. Kinkead of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mary and Howard Lemaster.
Graveside services will be Sunday at Central Chapel cemetery at Ganotown. Pastor Dick Peer will officiate.

Virginia H. Peyton
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Virginia H. Peyton, 78, of Martinsburg, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Rose Hill Nursing Home, Berryville, Va.
Born July 5, 1920, in Frederick County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Amanda Racey Henson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl G. Peyton.
She retired as owner and operator of Judy's Ceramics.
She was a member of Walnut Grove Christian Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy K. Peyton of Martinsburg, Debra L. Rogers of Kearneysville, W.Va., and V. Susan Stanley of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; a son, Harry W. Peyton of Martinsburg; a sister, Velma Chapman of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Small; and three brothers, Howard Henson, Frank Henson and Robert Henson.
Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Michael Bageant will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Nelson R. Bageant
UNGER, W.Va. - Nelson Richard Bageant, 79, of Unger, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born Sept. 28, 1919, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry Preston Sr. and Virginia Ganoe Bageant.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, Unger.
He is survived by eight nieces and nephews, Barbara Arnold of Rockville, Md., Henry Fearnow of Arlington, Va., Carol Welsh, Michael Bageant and Kenneth Stotler, all of Martinsburg, W.Va., Randy Stotler of Berkeley Springs, Joseph Bageant Jr. of Eugene, Ore., and Martha Windle of Winchester, Va.; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ona Mae Stotler and Ruth Fearnow; and two brothers, Harry P. Bageant Jr. and Joseph L. Bageant.
Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Greenwood United Methodist Church cemetery, Unger. Pastor Michael R. Bageant will officiate.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The funeral home will be open Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. for the convenience of friends.
Ann J. Thompson
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Ann Julia Thompson, 90, of Berkeley Springs and formerly of Pittsburgh, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Heartland of Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Nov. 3, 1908, in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Johnson A. and Anna Hasenbuhler Thompson.
She retired in 1973 from Westinghouse Corp., where she worked as a communications specialist.
She was a life member of Second United Presbyterian Church of Wilkensburg, Pa.
She is survived by a niece, Charlotte Miller of Martinsburg; two nephews, Harry M. "Wally" Thompson of Charlotte, N.C., and Carroll W. Files of Ellicott City, Md.; a cousin; great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great-nieces; and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Estella Files, Mapel Appel and Wilma Thompson; two brothers, Edward Thompson and Harry M. Thompson; and a nephew, Dick Appel.
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. Pastor Edward Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 27, one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mabel M. Schultz
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Mabel Marie Johnston Schultz, 88, of Shepherdstown, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born June 3, 1910, in Charles Town, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nora McGorlick Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Lee Schultz, in 1986.
She retired after working as a licensed practical nurse in Jefferson County. She worked at the old Charles Town General Hospital, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, and in private residential care.
She was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Ramey of Charles Town, Margaret Rushworth of Pasadena, Md., and Edna Jackson of Shepherdstown; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Lowe.
Services will be Monday at noon at Charles Town Baptist Church. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Bolivar, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Barbara Ramey, at Woodleigh Estate, located on W.Va. 340 South, Charles Town.
