RANSON, W.Va. - Tara Rose Widmyer, 25, of Ranson, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.
Born Jan. 15, 1973, in Raleigh, N.C., she was the daughter of Robert Earl and Lois A. Pope Wilbourne of Charles Town, W.Va.
She was a 1991 graduate of Jefferson High School. She graduated in 1993 from Hagerstown Business College with a paralegal degree.
She had been employed as a paralegal with the law firm of Burke and Schultz in Martinsburg, W.Va.
She was a member of Child's Road Church of God. She worked with the youth at the church and was a soloist.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Amber Rose Widmyer, at home; paternal grandmother, Helen Maxine Wilbourne of Coats, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Margaret Ann Pope of Coats; a brother, Patrick Jason Wilbourne at home; three uncles; three aunts, and cousins.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town. The Rev. Harold Snyder, the Rev. Kenneth Boyd and the Rev. Jerry Price will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Anna Harriet Jenkins Jeffries, 60, of Bunker Hill, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Intergrated Health Services of West Virginia, Charles Town, W.Va.
Born Dec. 29, 1937, in Mayland, Va., she was the daughter of the late Kasel Washington and Fannie Mae Wampler Jenkins.
She retired from The Evening Journal as department manager.
She was a member of Mountain View Church of the Brethren, Inwood, W.Va.
She was a member of VFW Auxiliary; and received awards for advertising excellence from the Journal.
She is survived by her husband, James W. Jeffries; three daughters, Anna Lynn Cox of Montana, Connie Faith Davidson of Martinsville, Va., and Patricia M. Hardy of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four brothers, Myron R. Jenkins of Bunker Hill, Clyde W. Jenkins of Inwood, W.Va., Frederick W. Jenkins and Dennis J. Jenkins, both of Lynchburg, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson. The Rev. Michael Staubs will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Church cemetery, Route 51, Inwood, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Abbie Hostler
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Abbie Hostler, 84, of Harpers Ferry, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Aug. 20, 1914, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Addie Longerbeam Painter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Bushrod Hostler, in 1975.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by three children, Ann Jeanette Pierson, Norman H. Hostler and Forest E. Hostler, all of Harpers Ferry; four sisters, Mage Howell and Jess Howell, both of Hagerstown, Dora Staubs of Harpers Ferry and Virginia Ford of Ranson, W.Va.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Cline and Hazel Southard; and three brothers, John Painter, George Painter and Thomas Painter.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Basil Day will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrews on the Mount cemetery, Mission Road/Route 9, Mount Mission, W.Va.

Josephine F. Knotts
UVILLA, W.Va. - Josephine Frances "Jo" Knotts, 66, of Uvilla Estates, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at her home.
Born Aug. 9, 1932, in Fairmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Louie and Josephine Galozzi Monell.
She was a graduate of West Fairmont High School; and a graduate of Fairmont College.
She was a homemaker; and previously was a school teacher.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She was a member of Alpha Delta Sorority.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Joseph B. "Joe" Knotts; three daughters, Kathleen Jacobsen of Salisbury, Mass., Michele Gurd of Norwood, Pa. and Carol Ricker of Stephens City, Va.; a son, Joe Knotts Jr. of Palm Desert, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town, W.Va. Father Brian Owens will be celebrant. Burial will be Monday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. in Arlington National cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town.

Larry Hawkins
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Larry Hawkins, 63, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, in Berkeley Springs.
Born July 8, 1935, he was the son of Mary Frances Dickerhoff Hawkins of Hancock and the late Lawrence Franklin Hawkins.
He was a land developer, contractor and excavator.
He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborn.
He was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Hancock.
He was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60, Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Heston Hawkins; two daughters, Terry Ann Kovoc of Elgin, Ill. and Barbara Gail; two sons, Jerry Bowling of Franklin, Ohio, and Tony Hawkins of Elgin; a stepdaughter, Chelsea White of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Mary Ann Stotler of Sandford, Fla.; six brothers, Jack Hawkins and Mack Hawkins, both of Gaithersburg, Md., Robert Hawkins of Damascus, Md., Kenny Stotler, Wayne Stotler and Larry Stotler, all of Berkeley Springs; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hancock. The Rev. Allan Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs; and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dorothy L. Ashby
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Dorothy Louise Ashby, 73, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born in Berkeley County, W.Va., July 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George and Minnie Bell Ridenour. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Ellen D. and Oliver T. Jenkins.
She was a former production worker at Knouse Foods.
She attended Salvation Army.
She was a member of Loyal Order Women of the Moose, VFW Auxiliary, and a past member of Eagles Club.
She is survived by six daughters, Patricia Cookus, Cynthia Shamburg, Veronica Miller and Melanie Hewett, all of Martinsburg, Stella Bowers of Bunker Hill, W.Va., Earlene Kesecker of Flagler, Fla.; one son, Earl "Nick" Ashby of Martinsburg; one sister, Pricilla Hollis of Martinsburg; three stepsisters, Elizabeth Fraley, Pearl Hess and Elsie Jenkins, all of Martinsburg; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Melody Ashby; one brother, George Ridenour; and four stepbrothers, John Jenkins, Gilbert Jenkins, Everett Jenkins and Ervin Jenkins.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Albert Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
