Alfred F. Anderson

INWOOD, W.Va. - Alfred F. Anderson, 75, of Inwood, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Jan, 13, 1923, in Madison County, Va., he was the son of the late Oliver and Ella Sisk Anderson.

He was an orchard worker.

He was a member of Light House Church in Darkesville, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Louise V. Baker Anderson; two sons, Roy A. Anderson and Frank E. Anderson, both of Madison County, Va.; three stepsons, Lester C. Sisk of Ridgeway, W.Va., Thomas Sisk, at home and Arthur N. Sisk; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Sisk, at home; two sisters, Rosie McKee of Winchester, Va., and Nellie Berry of Ruckersville, Va.; two brothers, Frank Anderson of Brightwood, Va., and John B. Anderson of Wray, Va.; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Welford Anderson, Daniel Anderson and Hoover Anderson.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Paul Flick will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

L. Dianne Cave

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - L. Dianne Cave, 53, of Falling Waters, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at her home.

Born March 9, 1945, in Panama City, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Terrell M. and Maude Pitts Brannon.

She was a retired service representative for Bell Atlantic.

She attended Bedington United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

She is survived by three sons, Philip W. Cave Jr., Terry G. Cave and Bradley R. Cave, all of Martinsburg; one brother, Rex. T. Brannon of Panama City; a close friend, Larry L. Emery; and one granddaughter.

Services will be held Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Robert W. Barnes will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Treatment Center, Winchester Medical Center, 1870 Amherst St., P.O. Box 3340, Winchester, VA 22601.

Mildred M. Benson

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Burial for Mildred McCauley Benson, 89, of Martinsburg, who died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham, N.C.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Elinor R. Hemler

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Elinor R. Hemler, 73, of 207 Jackson Road, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at her home.

Born Feb. 8, 1925, in Owings Mills, Md., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Ensor Seward.

Her husband, Jerome Stephen Hemler, died July 28, 1998.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by one son, Joseph R. Hemler of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one sister, Alice Thiele of Randallstown, Md.; one brother, William Seward of Owings Mills; three grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Sykesville, Md.

Friends may call at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Marion A. Sarra Sr.

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Marion Albert Sarra Sr., 77, of Shenandoah Junction, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Va.

Born May 18, 1921, in Nicandro, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Mary Malira Sarra.

He was a retired conductor for B&O Railroad at Brunswick, Md.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town, W.Va.

He was a member of Elks Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Sarra; a son, Terry A. Sarra of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Scott Sarra and Matthew Sarra, both of Shepherdstown, Gail Gish of Falling Waters, W.Va., Lisa Shiley of Clear Brook, Va., and Mike Sarra of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Marion A. Sarra Jr. ; a sister, Rosie Miller; and a brother, James Sarra.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leukemia Society of America, 600 Third Ave., Fourth Floor, New York, NY 10016.

Arrangements are by Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry.

Richard L. Painter

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Richard Lee Painter, 51, of Bloomery Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at his home.

Born Aug. 8, 1947, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late George Washington and Thelma Estelle Hardy Painter.

He was formerly employed by Raymond R. Riley Co., Inc., in Purcellville, Va.; and previously was employed by William A. Hazel Co., Inc., Chantilly, Va.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by two sisters, Ruby E. LaBelle of Inwood, W.Va., and Isabelle Virginia Riggleman of Charles Town; and two brothers, Donald William Painter of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and George Painter of Charles Town.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Dillow and Margaret Ann Valeo; and two brothers, Merle Painter and Richard Painter.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Pastor James Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gary S. Haines

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Gary S. Haines, 63, of Falling Waters, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, in Green Springs, W.Va.

Born Sept. 16, 1935, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Helen Catlett Haines Jr.

He was retired from Mack Trucks after 31 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of Marlowe Assembly of God Church.

He was a member of Grace Property Hunting Club; Falling Waters Hunting Club; and Local Union 171, U.A.W.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Lee Poisal Haines; a foster daughter, Ellen Kline of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a sister, Kay Palmer of Williamsport; two brothers, Tom Catlett of Greencastle, Pa., and Richard Haines of Falling Waters; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Marlowe Assembly of God Church. The Rev. James Haskell will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

Memorial donations may be made to Marlowe Assembly of God Church, Route 1, Box 5, Falling Waters, WV 25419.
