FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Dorothy Theresa Snyder, 80, of 340 Potomac Heights Road, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at her home.
Born Jan. 11, 1918, in Bucks Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clyde L. and Nora Hope McKibbin Barnhart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J. Snyder, in 1962.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Rita Joyce Smith of Falling Waters; a sister, Margaret McDonald of Falling Waters; two brothers, Robert Barnhart of Hagerstown and Victor Barnhart of Leitersburg; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. James E. Swecker will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
The omission of flowers is requested.

Ray D. Crouse
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Ray D. Crouse, 72, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Aug. 4, 1926, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Cory Crouse and Bessie Crouse Roach and the stepson of the late Henry Roach Sr.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He retired from Pennsylvania Glass and Sand Co. in Berkeley Springs after 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth Marie Moore Crouse; a daughter, Shirley Harvey of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; two sons, Lewis Crouse of Berkeley Springs and David Crouse of McSherrystown, Pa.; a sister, Frances Eaton of Berkeley Springs; two half brothers, Henry Roach Jr. and Nelson Roach, both of Berkeley Springs; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Sherman Crouse, Melvin Crouse, Lester Crouse and Merle Crouse.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Reverend Henry L. Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Evelyn A. Dickey
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Evelyn Arline Dickey, 73, of Harpers Ferry, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center.
Born April 5, 1925, in Ritchie County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hilton H. Critchfield and Mona Thompson Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Dickey.
She was a member of Shannondale Springs Chapel.
She is survived by a daughter, Lauran Miller of Carrollton, Va.; a son, Wesley Mossburg of Harpers Ferry; and a sister, Jean Whiteman of Kalamazoo, Mich.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va. The Rev. Harold "Porky" Jones Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town, W.Va.
Burl F. Grund
LAKIN, W.Va. - Burl F. Grund, 84, of 1 Bateman Circle, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home, Point Pleasant, W.Va.
Born May 7, 1914, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late William F. and Minnie D. Ettinger Grund.
He is survived by a sister, June Eckert of Cheverly, Md.; and two nieces.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Pastor James T. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa.
There will be no viewing.

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Charles William Ott, Sr., 79, of Mannings, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born April 21, 1919, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Bushrod and Lettie Dillow Ott.
He retired after 35 years of service with Dixie-Narco Inc., Ranson, W.Va.
He had served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his children, Charles W. Ott Jr. of Millville, W.Va., Mifflin Grant Ott of Charles Town, W.Va., Larry Aldrich Ott and Jeffrey Ellis Ott, both of Harpers Ferry; a brother, Millard Ott of Harpers Ferry; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Edna O. Turner, Elda O. Barr, Betty O. Tarman, Mary Ann O'Chaney and Beulah O. Fellers; and three brothers, Lester Ott, Theodore "Jiggs" Ott and Gilbert Ott.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Murrill Hill Methodist Church Yard, Harpers Ferry.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary Frances "Sophie" Butts, 68, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at Shenandoah Health Village Center, Charles Town, W.Va.
Born Feb. 19, 1930, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Kyle Kearns Laidlow.
She retired as a clerk for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
She was a member of New Hope Assembly of God Church, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
She is survived by three daughters, Lisa June Butts of Hyde Park, N.Y., Marcia Ann Butts of Inwood, W.Va. and Amy Louise Kinard of Shepherdstown; two sons, James Ronald Butts of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Andrew Nelson Butts of Martinsburg; four sisters, Betty Swisher, Jo Ann Jones and Norma Whitford, all of Martinsburg and June Gano of Shepherdstown; two brothers, Stewart W. Laidlow of Gettysburg, Pa., and Jack Laidlow of Martinsburg; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Laidlow.
Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Don Preston will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Pauline Ruth Unger Youngblood Mason, 81, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital.
Born April 27, 1917, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ivan Ira and Icy Snow Henry Unger.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd D. Youngblood, in 1966; and by her second husband, Lee E. Mason, in 1982.
She was a homemaker.
She was a Protestant.
She was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Unit 60 Auxiliary; Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019 Auxiliary; Red Men's Club Auxiliary; and Women of the Moose.
She is survived by four daughters, Martha "Sis" Youngblood of Berkeley Springs, Irene Doyle of Holbrook, N.Y., Edith Cave and Eileene Miller, both of Berkeley Springs; a son, Vernon D. Youngblood of Berkeley Springs; a stepdaughter, Peggy Haney of Berkeley Springs; a stepson, Donald L. Mason Sr. of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Mary Thompson of Shepherdstown, W.Va. and Margie Barnhart of Berkeley Springs; a brother, Dayton Unger of North Dakota; 14 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Pearl Barney, Virginia Unger, Opal Bivens, Dorothy Trail and Vergie Bishop; five brothers, Estee Unger, Berkeley Unger, Clarence Unger, Ray Unger and Raymond Unger; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., for the convenience of friends.
