Cecilio Torres

1938-2006

Cecilio "Jimmy" Torres, 67, of Cheyenne died July 12 at United Medical Center-West.

Jimmy was born Nov. 22, 1938, in Las Vegas and had lived here for the past 54 years.

He was a barber at F.E. Warren Air Force Base Officer's Club Barber Shop and was a member of Creative Ministries Church.

He was also a past member of the American Legion and the Latin American Club.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Virginia Torres of Cheyenne, whom he married Sept. 25, 1961, in Cheyenne; three daughters, Danette Bernard of San Diego, Kimren "Kim" Smith of Atlanta, and Helen Thomason of Cheyenne; five brothers, Benny Torres, Lucio Torres, Julio "Mickey" Torres, Tony Garcia, and George Garcia, all of Cheyenne; five sisters, Ramona Salas of Cheyenne, Viola Alcon of Rosemead, Calif., and Margaret Flores, Sally Simental and Mary Ann Love, all of Cheyenne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Torres was preceded in death by his parents, Severo and Josepha (Ortiz) Torres; and four brothers, Perry Torrez, Ernie Torres, Robert "Boogie" Garcia and Ralph "Bambi" Garcia.

The funeral is 2 p.m. today at Cheyenne Hills Church with the Rev. Jason Brittain officiating.

Cremation will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Casket bearers will be John Smith, Landon Smith, Josh Musser, John Bernard, Lucio Torres and Julio Torres. Honorary casket bearers will be Ethan McCarrick, Gilbert Ortiz, Sr., George Garcia, Richard Torrez and Adrian Tomas.

Fay F. Ackerman

1922-2006

Mr. Fay F. Ackerman, 83, of Cheyenne, died July 15 at United Medical Center-West in Cheyenne.

He was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Van Tassel.

Mr. Ackerman was a milkman for Meadow Gold Dairy. He later worked for the Wigwam Bakery.

He married Ella McNary on July 21, 1976, in Cheyenne.

Mr. Ackerman was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was affiliated with the Baptist church and was a member of VFW Post 4343.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Richard Ackerman of Cheyenne; a daughter, Sharon Kelly of Cheyenne; a stepdaughter, Linda Brunner of Cheyenne; two stepsons, Gregory and Douglas Randles of Las Vegas; a sister, Betty Lack of Casper; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ackerman was preceded in death by a son, John Wayne Ackerman.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Schrader Chapel with the Rev. Kurt Borgaard officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

J. Tyler Raff

1993-2006

Justin Tyler Raff, 13, of Cheyenne, died July 14 at the Children's Hospital in Denver.

He was born March 27, 1993, Odessa, Texas.

He loved hunting, camping, biking, riding four-wheelers and spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of Quest Tae Kwon and F.E. Warren Youth Center, and attended McCormick Junior High School.

He is survived by his parents, Kenny and Jamie Raff of Cheyenne; a sister, Tiffany N. Raff of Cheyenne; and grandparents, Eddie and Donna Raff of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Brenda Fuller of Midland, Texas.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at Schrader Funeral Home.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cheyenne Hills Church with the Rev. Capt. Matthew Franke officiating. Burial will be at Beth El cemetery. A gathering will follow at Cheyenne Hills Church.

Pallbearers will be Joe LeMay, Cody Fuller, Danny Harvick, Stephen Harvick, Matthew Smith and Eddie Adkerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Monty Ballard, John Paul Hayes, Jeff Kinsey and Jeff Alumbaugh.

James A. Adams

1951-2006

James A. "Munster" Adams, 55, of Cheyenne, died July 13 in Cheyenne.

He was born June 28, 1951, in Plattsmouth, Neb., and had lived here for 42 years.

Mr. Adams was an equipment supervisor for the Union Pacific Railroad for 26 years.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Adams of Cheyenne; two daughters, Bianca Kasten and Tasha Van Leer, both of Cheyenne; his mother, Evangeline Adams of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and three brothers, Dennis M. Adams of Idaho Falls, William J. Adams of Vancouver, Wash., and John L. Adams of Hershey, Neb.; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his father, Spurgeon Woody Adams; and a brother, Donald Lee Adams.

Mass will be 10 a.m. today at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Cronkleton as the celebrant.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Friends may contribute to the American Cancer Society or United Medical Center Hospice.

Jean Werkele

1932-2006

Jean Werkele, 74, of Cheyenne, died July 15 at United Medical Center in Cheyenne.

Mrs. Werkele was born May 18, 1932, in Morrill, Neb., the daughter of Ellis and Inez (Hise) Kelley.

The family moved to Lingle and then to Torrington, where she graduated high school in 1950. She attended Eastern Wyoming College and worked there for a short time.

She married William F. Werkele on July 22, 1951, in Torrington. The couple moved from Torrington in 1960 and lived in Laramie for five years. They moved to Cheyenne in 1965 where they have lived since.

Mrs. Werkele was a homemaker and enjoyed friends and family and entertaining both. She also enjoyed crafts, Christmas and gift-giving and was known for her loving and nurturing.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; a son, Dan Werkele of Cheyenne; a daughter, Gail Hill of Los Angeles; two brothers, Allen Kelley of Richland, Wash., and Richard Kelley of Phoenix; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Werkele was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Colyer Funeral Home Chapel in Torrington with the Rev. Ora Daily officiating. Burial will be at the Valley View cemetery in Torrington.

Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and after the funeral.

Loretta Robinson

1912-2006

Loretta Robinson, 93, passed away July 16 at the home of her daughter in Cheyenne, where she lived for the past year.

She was born Nov. 30, 1912, in Barnard, Mo.

She married Rothoy Robinson in 1932. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Albin. They spent 25 years in several communities in eastern Laramie County. They raised five children in those years. They relocated to Nampa, Idaho, where Loretta worked for and retired from Simplot Potato Company.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by three daughters, Florine Person of Cheyenne, Anita and Dean Peterson of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Deloris and David Cram of Nampa, Idaho. She also is survived by14 grandchildren, of which four live in Wyoming with their families: Richard and Debbie Steege of Pinedale, Linda Green, Roger Steege and Joyce and Herman Stumpf, all of Cheyenne.

The light of her life this past year was her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Great-grandchildren include JaneŠ Cox, Michele and Tom DeHoff, Jamie and Trina Heinz, Lyndi Blackham and Bill Harris, and Joseph Steege and Jordanne Steege. Great-great-grandchildren include MacKenzie, Luke, Marcus and Mason DeHoff, Jordan Harris and Madison and Jaxon Heinz.

She also is survived by eight more great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her extended family also touched her life and included many family friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rothoy "Soy"; six brothers; a daughter Mary Ann Robinson; and a son, Howard Robinson.

A graveside service will be held in Nampa, Idaho.

A memorial service will be held in Loretta's memory at a later date.

Mark J. Griego Sr.

1964-2006

Mark John Griego Sr., 42, of Cheyenne died July 14.

He was born Jan. 15, 1964, in Cheyenne and was raised here.

He married Jackie Cortez on May 6, 1983.

He worked at Unique Wood Design as a laborer, installing custom wood flooring.

He enjoyed driving his 1954 Chevrolet.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Cortez Griego; three daughters, Delia Griego of Lorain, Ohio, Deana Griego and Arelia Griego, both of Cheyenne; his son Mark Griego Jr. of Cheyenne; his mother and stepfather, Odie and Frances Conrad of San Jose, Calif.; five sisters, Delma Griego DeLeon of San Jose, Gloria Griego Ferrel of Ceres, Calif., Gina Griego Pimentel of Cheyenne, Martha Griego Esparza of San Jose, and Elizabeth Griego of Cheyenne; and two brothers, Alex Griego and Anthony Griego, both of Manteca, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alex M. Griego.

Vigil for the Deceased will be 7 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.

The funeral liturgy is 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Bill Hill as celebrant. Interment will follow at Olivet cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mark Griego, Jr., Anthony Griego, Alex Griego, Jr., Alex Griego IV, Roger Griego and Daniel Farrel.

Honorary casket bearers are all of his family and Michael Wilcox.

Patricia E. Hahn

1931-2006

Patricia E. Hahn, 75, of Clarkson, Neb., formerly of Cheyenne, died July 16 in Omaha, Neb.

She was born Feb 22, 1931, in Cheyenne to Everette and Mabel (Marshall) Philabaum. She graduated in 1949.

On Feb. 10, 1952, she married Thomas C. Hahn in Cheyenne.

They later moved to Westminster, Colo., and she worked at Capitol Federal Savings and Loan in Denver for 31 years. In 2002, they moved to Clarkson, Neb.

Mrs. Hahn is survived by her husband Thomas Hahn of Clarkson; a daughter Sharon Lee of Clarkson; two granddaughters; a sister, Mary Lea Telluric of Greeley, Colo.; two brothers, Ted Philabaum of West Des Moines, Iowa; Jack Philabaum of Cave Creek, Ariz.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Clarkson National cemetery in Clarkson.

Daniel W. Erb

1952-2006

Daniel Wayne Erb, 53, of Cheyenne died July 18 at home.

Mr. Erb was born Sept. 22, 1952, in Cheyenne and lived here all of his life.

Mr. Erb married Janice Golden on March 28, 1975 in Cheyenne.

He was in the Air Force and served in Vietnam.

Mr. Erb is survived by his wife Janice; four daughters and their husbands, Rhonda and Cisco Bobian, Robin and David Erb, Rolinda "Ole" and Scott Slemmons, all of Cheyenne and Rolene "Tuttie" and Doug Halbmaier of Vale, S.D.; two sons and their wives, Michael S. and Kimberely Erb of Lincoln, Neb. and Daniel J. and Missy Erb, of Riverton; seventeen grandchildren, Jeremy Potter, Jonathan Potter, Hope Sausedo, David Erb, Joseph Smith, Joshua Smith, Gary Garrison, Gynnell Slemmons, Rachel Virgil, Merrissa Virgil, Katie O'Brien, Ashley O'Brien, Erin O'Brien, Courtney Erb, Brittany Erb, Brighton Erb, Adrian Erb; and seven great grandchildren; his father, James J. Erb Sr.; two brothers, James J. Erb, Jr. and David W. Erb, Sr.; and two sisters, Kathleen Erb and Michelle Ewing.

He is preceded in death by his mother Marion Erb and one granddaughter, Gynnette Slemmons.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel Of The Chimes.

Debra Kay Ornelas

1954-2006

Debra Kay Ornelas, 52, of Cheyenne said goodbye to family and friends Sunday, July 16, letting go of her battle with pancreatic cancer.

Deb, the daughter of Gerald and Retta McHenry, was born July 2, 1954, and was raised in Cheyenne. She attended Hebard Elementary, Johnson Junior High and graduated from Cheyenne Central High in 1972, forming numerous childhood friendships along the way.

Upon graduation, she began her career with the state of Wyoming, where she worked for over 33 years up until her final days. Throughout her service with the state, she forged many relationships locally, around the state and throughout the country at various levels of government. She ended her career as the driver services manager for the Wyoming Department of Transportation, an affiliate of American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, and was a member of the WYDOT Women's Leadership group. Over the years she was blessed with a number of colleagues whom she was honored to work with, and whom became dear friends.

For many years Deb enjoyed being active in Women's and co-rec softball. She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially time spent working in her yard, or walking the trails of surrounding mountains. She participated in community service activities such as the Cheyenne Christmas Parade and was active in many children's events and activities associated with the Department of Transportation.

Deb was tremendously family oriented. She loved and cared deeply for her husband and family, working and sacrificing throughout the years to build a warm and welcoming home. This love also transcended beyond the walls of her home, and into the hearts of her numerous relatives and friends. She was truly grateful for all the times they shared, loving each unconditionally, through this lifetime and into the next.

Deb was proceeded in death by her husband, Jerry Ornelas; mother, Retta McHenry; and grandparents; Bruce and Julia McHenry, Ralph and Thelma Blenz, and Stella and Dave Johnson.

She is survived by, and in the hearts of, her children Michelle Ornelas-Nemeth and Istvan Nemeth, Anthony Ornelas and Kelly Child; her father, Gerald McHenry and Dorothea Parker; her sister and brother in-law, Dephne and Johnnie Garcia; her brother and sister in-law, Bill and Susie McHenry; and in-laws, John and Sandy Ross, and Jon and Jane Orenelas, all of Cheyenne; along with numerous nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins whom brought daily joy and happiness to Deb.

On Debra's behalf, the family would like to extend a sincere thanks to all her friends for the support and encouragement they provided her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or the Cheyenne Parks and Recreation Department.

A rosary will be held at the Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel at 7 p.m. today. A mass and funeral will be celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. Friday with The Rev. Ray Rodriguez as the celebrant.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
