Noren Nelson, 68, of St. James, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at Renville County Hospital, Olivia.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in the Lake Hanska Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and at the church Friday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Marilyn of St. James; sisters, Janice Sorgatz of Mankato, Angela and Allen Sack of Waseca; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane; and sister, Ramona Broste.
He was born August 4, 1932, in Madelia to Joseph and Ovedia (Peterson).
He was a custodian for the Waldorf Paper Company in the Twin Cities.
He married Diane Rinker on May 28, 1960, in Minneapolis.
They lived there for several years before moving to New Richland when he worked for Brown Printing in Waseca.
They moved to St. James in 1982. He belonged to Augustana Lutheran Church.

Melva (Mrs. Marvin) Wolf, 79, of 1217 N. Franklin St., New Ulm, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at Lake Crystal Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, Lorentz Gens of Truman; nieces and a nephew, Lynn Gosewisch of New Ulm, Barb Grieman of Shakopee, and Wally Zempel of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; a sister, Norva Gens; and a brother, Lyle Zempel.
She was born March 15, 1921, Ceresco Township, Blue Earth County, to Herman and Lydia (Henslin) Zempel.
She was a graduate of Amboy High School. She attended nursing school. She married Marvin Wolf at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
She worked at Loretto Hospital in New Ulm and at the Madelia Hospital until retiring. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Eugene "Jack" Clement Remker, 80, of St. James, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at St. James Health Services Hospital.
Services are 10:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.
Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughters, Linda and husband Rodney Eldevik of Alexandria, Deborah and husband Brad Romsdahl of New Prague; sons, Mark of Hayward, Wis., Jack of St. James; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and half-sister Pat and husband Charles Butts of Cantonment, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born July 14, 1920, in St. James, to Clement and Ruth (Crain) Remker.
After graduating from St. James High School in 1940, he worked at Railroad Ice House, St. James.
He married Jeanette Elean Dougherty on July 14, 1947, in Butterfield.
They lived in St. James, where he worked at Grain Products for 28 years.
He worked for a short time at Westin Automotive before retiring.

Michael Skelley, 78, of rural Henderson, died Thursday, August 24, 2000, at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Jessenland Township, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service.
A prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Pearl of Henderson; sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Bonnie of Henderson; Tom and Jackie of Eden Prairie; Joe and JoAnne of Henderson; and Steve and Pat of Henderson; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Lon Skattum of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Mary of Minneapolis, Joyce and Al Koller of Henderson, Joan and Steve Heinz of Henderson, Debra and Russ Blaschko of Gaylord, and Paul and Luis Skelley-Valdez of Portsmouth, N.H.; 30 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, and a sister, Mary Burke.
He was born November 1, 1921 in Jessenland Township to James and Catherine (Corcoran) Skelley.
He attended country school and Arlington High School. He married Pearl Holste May 24, 1944 in Jessenland.
They farmed in Jessenland Township. He drove a truck for McNamara and Viviant Construction Co. of Apple Valley until retirement.

Margaret "Marge" M. Schmid, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with burial in the Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10 a.m. on Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
There will be a parish prayer service 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.
She is survived by her husband Florian of Weslaco, Tex.; children Sherry and Ben Johnson of Burt, Iowa, Joe and Carol Schmid of Lake Elmo; seven grandchildren Chris, Todd, Chad and Travis Boettcher, Abby and Amanda Schmid and Amy Young; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brother Mary Helen Dale of Mankato, Kenneth Ziegler of Mankato, Betty Schorn of Fort Meyers, Fla.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Donald.
She was born Jan. 23, 1918, in Mankato to Joseph and Stella (Duffy) Ziegler.
She grew up and attended school in Mankato graduating from Good Council Academy.
She worked as a beautician in Mankato before her marriage to Florian A. Schmid on Nov. 15, 1938 in Mankato.
The couple made their home in Springfield where she continued to work as a beautician.
In 1978 they moved to Alexandria spending their winters in Texas.
In 1988 they moved to Weslaco, Tex.
She was a member of the C.O.F. and a past president of the Springfield American Legion Auxiliary.

Frances G. Eichten, 89, died Friday, August 25, 2000, at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda with burial in the church cemetery in Wanda.
Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and 9-10 a.m. on Monday at the St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda.
There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Arrangements have been made with Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton.
She is survived by her husband Bernard "Barney" Eichten of Wanda; son Roger and his wife Renee Eichten of Eagen; three grandchildren Brent and Monica Eichten of Rosemount, Nicole and Krista Eichton of Boulder, Colo.; two great-grandchildren; and a sister Cecelia Welsch of Lucan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a child in infancy; brother Frank Wurscher and an infant brother.
She was born Nov. 21, 1910, in Waubun to John and Frances (Plaetz) Wurscher.
She moved with her family to Lucan where she grew up and attended school.
She worked at Zeug's Grocery for seven years before her marriage.
She married Bernard Eichten on April 25, 1944 in Lucan.
The couple farmed east of Wanda until retiring and moving into Wanda in the fall of 1970.
She was a member of the St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda, the C.C.W., the Christian Mothers and the St. Agnes Society of Catholic Aid.

Eric G. VanWinkle, infant son of Steven and Tamra VanWinkle of Farmington, formerly of New Ulm, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Bloomington Lutheran Church at 9350 Portland Ave. S.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. at the church with burial in Lebanon Cemetery in Apple Valley.
He is survived by his parents Steven and Tamara; a sister Kaitlin and a brother Tyler; grandparents, Dean and Rosemarie VanWinkle; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bert and Darleen Schapekahm.
White Funeral Home of Farmington is handling the arrangements.

Elizabeth 'Betty' Bastian, 66, of rural New Ulm died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m.today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m. today, and there will be parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley Bastian of rural New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Richard Allen of New Ulm, LaVonne and Alfred Hinderman Jr. of Glencoe, and Cindy Oliver of St. James; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Kathleen Bastian of St. Paul, Thomas and Beth Bastian, James and Kathy Bastian, Dino Bastian and his friend Rosie Hauser, all of rural New Ulm, Peter Bastian, and Mark Bastian and his fiancee, Shelley, ll of New Ulm; 15 grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Charles Mathiowetz of Red Wing; and a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Bernice Dietz of rural New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was born June 26, 1934, in Pierz, to Alfred and Kathleen (Jutz) Dietz.
She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in New Ulm.
On May 4, 1955 she married Stanley Bastian at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
They farmed in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, for 40 years.
She worked as a nursing assistant at the Highland Manor Nursing Home and Oak Hills Living Center.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, a 50-year member of St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society, and the Council of Catholic Women Society all in New Ulm.

Marshall Versaevel, 87, of New Ulm, formerly of Marshall, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 at home.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Marshall, with burial in St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery, Green Valley.
Visitation was held Monday.
Hamilton-Birk Funeral Home, Marshall, was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by children, Sandra and husband David Jacobsen of Sauk Rapids, Lou Ann and husband Kirk Smith of New Ulm, and Douglas and wife Linda of Claypool, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank and wife Rita, Bill and wife Clarice, and Oscar and wife Joan of Marshall; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; sister Emily Brosseau; brother, Raymond; and great-granddaughter, Kari Hennemann.
He was born Nov. 20, 1912, in Marshall, to Leon and Eugenia (Vallaeys) Versaevel.
He married Helen Dorothy Cromheecke on Nov. 22, 1939.
They farmed in Vallers Township until 1976 when they retired.
They moved to Marshall in 1985. His wife died March 25, 1995.
He moved to Ridgeway on German in New Ulm on Dec. 1, 1999.
He was a former member of St. Clotilde Catholic Church, Green Valley.
He was a member of Farmers Union, president of the Jolly Mixers Polka Club, and a member of Marshall Area Senior Center board.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Marshall.

Hildegard M. Kuck, 87, of Searles died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
There will be a rosary by the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Norbert Ubl of rural New Ulm; son, Patrick Kuck of Arlington; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Shirley Kuck of rural Hanska; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Schmidt of New Ulm; and brother and sister-in-law, Werner and Adelia Reinhart of rural New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, on Sept. 10, 1994; sister and brother-in-law, Quidella and John Kuck; and brother-in-law, Leander Schmidt.
She was born Dec. 25, 1912, in St. George, to Hubert and Isabella (Huelskamp) Reinhart.
She married George Kuck on Aug. 26, 1930, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles.
They farmed in the New Ulm area until 1977 when they retired and moved to Searles. In January 199, she moved to Ridgeway on German in New Ulm.
In April she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society and St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society in Searles.
