Barbara Storlie
Barbara Ann Storlie, age 61, a resident of Hastings, MN, died April 7, 1999, at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings.

Funeral services were held April 10 at the United Methodist Church in Hastings with the Reverend Jeffrey Utecht officiating. Burial was at the Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.

Barbara was born February 15, 1938, in Farmington, MN, to Caroline (Hyde) and Gordon L. Wilson. Barbara married Dale Storlie on August 3, 1957, at the United Methodist Church of Hastings. She had been a licensed practical nurse. She liked going up north to the cabin, knitting, canning and card playing and also enjoyed the ladies bowling league.

Survivors include husband, Dale Storlie of Hastings; mother, Caroline Wilson of Hastings; sons, James (Robin) Storlie of Little Falls, MN, Dennis (Kala) Storlie of Modesto, CA, Alan (Sandy) Storlie of Hastings, Mark (Heidi) Storlie of Hastings and Mike (Jodi) Storlie of Hastings; daughter, Michele Storlie of Hastings; sisters, Nancy (Jim) Freiermuth of Hastings, Jackie (Larry) Walker of Hastings, and Sandi (Jim) Molitor of Little Falls; brothers, DuWayne Wilson of Hastings and Paul (Lori) Wilson of Hastings and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon L. Wilson; brothers, Jim Wilson and Gordon R. Wilson and nephew, Jim Freiermuth.

Pallbearers were her children, James, Dennis, Alan, Mark, Michele and Mike.

Monica Hennek
Monica Hennek, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of St. Anna, MN, died April 13, 1999, at St. Otto’s Care Center.

Funeral services were held April 16 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Anna. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Monica was born May 7, 1909, in St. Wendel Township, Stearns County, MN, to Joseph and Rose (Scegura) Symanietz. She married Walter Hennek on November 19, 1929, in Sobieski, MN. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Anna. She was a foster mother for homeless children in Stearns County for 10 years and she also provided a foster home for veterans for 10 years. She and her husband owned and operated the Farm Resort and Campgrounds on Pelican Lake for 40 years.

Survivors include her husband of Little Falls; daughters, Mary Ann Matros of Isle, MN, and Florence Duke of Stillwater, MN; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren and brothers and sisters, Veronica Campagna of San Mateo, CA, Florence Sobiech of Little Falls, Harry Bieniek of San Mateo, CA, Damus Bieniek of San Mateo, Edward Bieniek of Little Falls and Richard Bieniek of Little Falls.

She was preceded in death by a son, Damus; brothers, John Symanietz, Andrew Symanietz, Tony Tieniek and Eugene Bieniek and one sister, Mary Beardsley.

Meta Hagen
Meta “Matie” Hagen, age 91, a resident of Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, MN, formerly of Darling Township, died April 4, 1999, at the Lutheran Care Center.

Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls on April 13 with Pastor Martin Langemo officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.

Meta was born May 29, 1907, in Milbank, SD, to the late Thomas J. and Emma (Linderkamp) Hansen. The family later moved to a farm near Royalton, MN. She was united in marriage to Lambert C. Hagen on September 6, 1937, at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls. The couple made their home on farms near Royalton and also near Little Falls. Meta was employed for several years in the laundry department at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

Survivors include son, Alvin Hagen and wife Mary of Blaine, MN; son-in-law, Terry Andres of Missoula, MT; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lambert C. Hagen; daughter, Mrs. Terry Andres (Irene); son, Ervin; two brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Timothy, Mark, Sara and Chris Hagen.

Alfred Ebnet
Alfred R. Ebnet, a resident of Holdingford, MN, died April 10, 1999 at his home.

Funeral services were held April 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Alfred was born in Krain Township, Stearns County, to Frank and Elizabeth (Vos) Ebnet. He married Regina Muyres on May 15, 1929, at St. Mary’s; she died June 29, 1974. He married Walburga Barhorst on November 9, 1974, at St. Mary’s. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford and also a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Aid Society, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus St. Isidore Council #9307, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace General Assembly #3628, Crosier Apostulate and was a recipient of the Bishops Medal. He was also a member of the Holdingford Senior Citizens and prepared meals for the senior citizens for 10 years. He was treasurer of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Aid Society. He farmed in the Holdingford area for 40 years, retiring in 1968 and moving to Holdingford. He was a past member of the Holding Town Board, Farmers Shipping Association, Coop Creamery, telephone board, local Red Cross and local school board.

Survivors include his wife of Holdingford; children, Cyril of Albany, MN, Alice Maine of Avon, MN, Lloyd of Albany, Jerome of Holdingford, Carol Waldoch of Little Falls, MN, and Linus of Albany; stepchildren, Louella Hechtel of St. Cloud, MN, Irene Kostreba of Elk River, MN, Ralph Barhorst of St. Stephen, MN, Marie Hoppe of Holdingford and Bernard Barhorst of Holdingford; 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; 10 great-stepgrandchildren; brothers and sisters, Roman of Long Prairie, MN, Joseph of Holdingford, John of Holdingford, Elmer of Holdingford, Clara Donnelly of Holdingford and Anna “Lena” Domenico of Holdingford.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; brothers, Leo “Curly”, Ambrose “Lefty”, George, Nicholas and Raymond; sister, Mary Zeis and one granddaughter.

Robert Fussy, Sr.
Robert Fussy, Sr., age 83, a resident of Foley, MN, died April 17, 1999, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were held April 20 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morrill, MN, with the Rev. Tom Olson officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Gilman VFW Post 1558.

Robert was born March 5, 1916, in Morrill Township, rural Morrison County, to Frank and Gertrude (Schyma) Fussy. He married Marie Bauer in November, 1941 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morrill. She preceded him in death on August 2, 1976. He later married Hilda (Krein) Hansen on August 3, 1984, in St. Cloud, MN. He had lived and farmed all of his life in the Morrill area. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945 in the Reconnaissance Co. 704 Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was a past member of the Morrill School Board, District 1192, and a life member of the Gilman VFW Post 1558. He was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for his work in the Department of Horational Agriculture. He was also a life member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda of Foley; sons and daughters, Jerry of Foley, Jim of Pierz, Robert, Jr., of Pierz, MN, Tom and Kathy of Rice, MN, Donald and Judy of Foley, Harvey and Brenda of Becker, MN, Elaine and Denny Batcha of Holdingford, MN, Judy and Richard Wirth of Hillman, MN, Lynette of Blaine, MN, Audrey and Alan Christensen of Elk River, MN, and Peggy Nyberg of Elk River; step-sons, Jon Hansen of New Hope, MN, Gary and Lori Hansen of Shorewood, MN, Ron and Anita of Shoreview, MN, and Bob of Plymouth, MN; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren eight step-grandchildren and brothers and sisters, Roman of Minneapolis, MN, Art of Foley, Clarence of Minneapolis, Alfred of Oak Park, MN, Lawrence of Minneapolis, Richard of Crosslake, MN, Mary Spiczka of New Brighton, MN, Delores Dudek of St. Cloud and Gertie Leason of Portland, OR.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Joe, Frank, Jr., Jerome, Bill, Clara Labelle and Irene Yatchoske and one stepson, William Hansen.

Pallbearers were Jerry Fussy, Jim Fussy, Robert Fussy, Jr., Tom Fussy, Donald Fussy and Harvey Fussy.

Duane Borash
Duane Borash, age 65, a resident of Bowlus, MN, died April 16, 1999, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial was held April 19 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN, with Father Silverius Schmitt officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Duane was born August 12, 1933, in Sobieski to Charles and Frances (Wludarski) Borash. He grew up in Pike Creek Township, and attended school in Little Falls, MN. Duane served in the United States Army for two years. He was united in marriage to Patricia Knopik on August 25, 1959, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. He farmed in Pike Creek Township from 1959 until 1969. The couple then moved to Pierz, MN, where they owned and operated Borash’s Bar and Borash’s Sales & Service. In 1979, they returned to dairy farming in the Staples, MN, area. He retired to the Lincoln, MN, area in 1992, then moved to Bowlus where he lived for a year. He was a sports fanatic. He enjoyed watching football and basketball and playing softball. He also enjoyed playing cards, dancing and helping with fieldwork. Duane was the president and vice president of the Morrison County chapter of the N.F.O. (National Farmers Organization) and a member of the Little Falls VFW.

Survivors include his wife Patricia of Bowlus; three sons, Charles “Chuck” and wife Karen of Lincoln, Wayne and wife Joyce of Sobieski and Kenneth of Red Wing, MN; two daughters, Kris Boros and husband Tim of Little Falls and Karen Marolt and husband Frank of Austin, MN; two brothers, Florian of Flensburg, MN, and John and wife Louise of Castro Valley, CA; four sisters, Florence Houle, Lucille Karasch, Agnes Nelson and husband Lennard and Elizabeth Doucette, all of Little Falls and 11 grandchildren, Vicki and Colleen Borash, Jacob and Aaron Borash, John, Paul, Mitchell and Rachel Boros and Isaac, Samuel and Jessica Marolt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dominic, Peter and Louis; his sister, Celia Pasco and his infant sister, Stella; an infant daughter, Mary Rose and his granddaughter, Rebecca Borash in 1998.

Casketbearers were Ted and Richard Knopik, Louis Doucette, Jerry Hansmann, Tim Boros and Kevin Doucette.

Lavina C. Braun
Lavina C. Braun, age 78, a resident of Pierz, MN, formerly of Buckman, MN, died April 20, 1999, at St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 23 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Buckman with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Lavina Clara Braun was born on July 8, 1920, in Buh Township, Morrison County, MN, to the late Herman and Addie (Virnig) Boser. She grew up on a farm in Buh Township and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Reinhard Braun at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple made their home in Buckman. Lavina worked for Crestliner Boats for 16 years and at Sev’s Cafe in Buckman for four years. Following her retirement, she continued living in Buckman. In April, 1997, she became a resident of the Harmony House in Pierz. She lived there until entering St. Mary’s Villa two weeks ago. Lavina loved playing bingo, gardening, canning and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Buckman and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Kapsner and husband Maury of Minneapolis, MN, Nancy Sanford and husband Jeff of Big Lake, MN, Gail Miller and husband Mike of Zimmerman, MN, Shelly Ensrud and husband Wes of Beaver Dam, WI, and Barb Braun and fiancé Tom Lutzke of Pierz; brothers Harvey Boser and and wife Helen of Minneapolis and Lloyd Boser and wife Faye of Little Falls, MN; sisters Ruby Flicker of Pierz and Doris Gwost of Little Falls; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lavina was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Reinhard Braun.

Clarence R. Brenny
Clarence R. (Chief) Brenny, age 78, a Carroll, IA, passed away April 19, 1999, at Carroll.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 22 at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Fathers Kenneth Brenny, James McCormick, Allan Reicks, Merlin Schrad and Peter Duc Nguyen con-celebrating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Clarence was born July 8, 1920, in Holdingford, MN, to Charles and Agnes (Katzmarek) Brenny. He served six years during World War II in the Navy. He married Irene Reicks on May 13, 1946, at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Carroll. For 37 years, he owned and operated Brenny’s Market. During the ’70s he also operated the Carroll Warehouse Market. He was a member of Holy Spirit parish and the Men’s Club, the Knights of Columbus, the New Hope Volunteers, the Legion of Mary, the city council, and was a Mayor Protem.

Survivors include children: Mary Clare Vaughn and husband Ed of Bellevue, NE, Mark Brenny and wife Norah of Bettendorf, IA, Mike Brenny and wife Gail-Marie of Annapolis, MD, Ann Fitzpatrick and husband Tim of Carroll, John Brenny and wife Dianna of Coal Valley, IL and James Forbes and husband Scott of Coralville, IA; and brother Fr. Kenneth Brenny of Pierz; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Irene Brenny (1982); brothers, Stanley, Clem, Allan and Roy Brenny; sisters, Eleanor and Connie.

Pallbearers were a niece and nephews, Jim Reicks, Gary Reicks, Dick Loneman, Richard Brenny, Bob Brenny and Julie Pretti; gift bearers were (grandchildren) Mark Brenny, Brad Brenny, Katie Fitzpatrick, Kelly Fitzpatrick and Adrianna Brenny.

Lectors were Fr. Allan Reicks, Fr. Peter Duc Nguyen, Mike Brenny and Tim Fitzpatrick.
