Mike Greenlee
Mike P. Greenlee, 46, of Grand Island, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Columbus.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan. The Rev. Dave Korth will officiate. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Duncan.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
McKown Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his father, Don of Columbus; one brother, Paul of Columbus; and two sisters, Carol (Mrs. Terry) Petersen of Grand Island, Donna (Mrs. Jim) Boroviak of Central City.
He was preceded in death by his mother and two sisters.
Mary O'Kane Leu
Mary O'Kane Leu, 92, of Grand Island died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Lakeview Rehab/Nursing Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wood River. The Revs. Ray Kosmicki and James O'Kane will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Wood River.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. A Catholic Daughters rosary will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Leu was born
on Oct. 7, 1906, at Wood River to David and Agnes (Whalen) O'Kane. She graduated from Wood River High School.
She married Fred Leu. She taught at District 5 School in Wood River before becoming a lab technician and doctor's assistant in North Platte.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Nella Sherrill
Nella C. Sherrill, 91, of Grand Island died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Lakeview Rehab/Nursing Center.
Private family graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Austin Cemetery near Loup City. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Sherrill was born
on July 3, 1908, at Loup City to William and Barbara (Treffer) Couton. She grew up and was educated in Loup City. She attended Kearney State College.
She married Glenn Sherrill on June 28, 1936, at Austin. The couple lived in Arnold. They moved various times with the railroad from Chicago to the Sandhills. They lived most of their lives in Grand Island. She taught school in Nebraska for 25 years before retiring in 1965 from the Grand Island school system.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Grand Island Woman's Club, Church Women United, Eagles Club, Grand Island Retired Teachers Association and Elk Does. She was a past worthy matron of the Clarks Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. She also enjoyed gardening, playing the piano and sewing. She had volunteered for Project Nightie, Stuhr Museum and St. Francis Medical Center.
Survivors include one daughter, A. Lu Stahlnecker of Grand Island; one son, Tom Sherrill of Phoenix; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, JoAnn Brown; three sisters and three brothers.
Dorothy Beavers
BROKEN BOW -- Dorothy Beavers, 87, of Broken Bow died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at the Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Jim Stark will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Beavers was born
on Aug. 7, 1912, near Broken Bow to Francis M. and Martha A. Lowder. She attended Ryon Grade School and graduated from Broken Bow High School.
She married Earle M. Beavers on Dec. 17, 1931, in Broken Bow. Mrs. Beavers worked with her husband in the trucking, house-moving and custom-combining businesses until his death in October 1972.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald and John, both of Broken Bow, and Dennis of Cozad; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter; a brother, Bob Lowder; and a sister, Naomi Hatch.
Adelin Carlson
AURORA -- Adelin Carlson, 85, of Aurora died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rev. Mark Dunham will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Miss Carlson was born
on April 22, 1914, in Hamilton County to Ernest and Nannie (Lorentz) Carlson. She grew up on a farm near Marquette and attended District 82 School through the eighth grade.
She lived with her parents and helped with farm work. She moved into Hamilton Manor after leaving the farm.
She enjoyed sewing, making quilts and cooking Swedish food.
Survivors include two brothers, Rudy and Ervin Carlson of Marquette.
Dale Crawford
CENTRAL CITY -- Dale Dan Crawford, 81, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Central City at his home on Willow Bend.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. PDT Friday at the Sun Also Rises Chapel in Ventura, Calif. Burial will be in Ventura Memorial Cemetery.
A private family service will be announced at a later date.
Marie Dobson
SPALDING -- Marie L. Dobson, 81, of Spalding died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Primrose. Burial will be in Dublin Cemetery in Primrose.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at Dolce-Scheef Mortuary in Spalding.
Myrtle Hall
SARGENT -- Myrtle E. Hall, 91, of Sargent died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at the Sargent Rehab and Nursing Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. Roy Kiester will officiate. Burial will be in Madison Square Cemetery west of Taylor.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Loup County Historical Society.
Miss Hall was born
on July 25, 1908, in Loup County to Frank M. and Gertrude (Dilsaver) Hall. She attended Madison Square School and graduated from Sargent High School in 1926.
She worked in education for 48 years, serving as a teacher, principal, librarian and media specialist. Through her teaching years, she earned credits for a bachelor of arts and master of arts.
She was affiliated with national, state and local teachers associations. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Rebekah Lodge, Loup County Historical Society, a lifetime member of the Kearney State College Alumni Association, charter member of the Madison Square Ladies Club and the Taylor Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She received a plaque from Ak-Sar-Ben in 1989 for the family farm being owned for 100 years.
She retired in 1975 and spent the remaining years on the farm in Loup County with her brothers. For the past three years, she had lived at the Sargent Hospital long-term unit and transferred to the Sargent Rehab and Nursing Center.
There are no survivors.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth and Esther; and two brothers, Ward and Merritt.
Mildred Jemison
AURORA -- Mildred M. Jemison, 95, of Aurora, formerly of Giltner, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Giltner United Methodist Church. The Revs. James Garfield and Dwight DeLaet will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Jemison was born
on Feb. 27, 1904, at Osceola to Charles and Clara (Morgan) Clauff. She was educated in rural Clarks schools and graduated from Fullerton High School. She taught school until 1924.
She married Richard Adamson on Oct. 4, 1924, at Mankato, Kan. The couple lived in Fullerton.
She married Earle Jemison on Feb. 27, 1979. They lived in Giltner. Mr. Jemison died in 1987.
Mrs. Jemison taught school for 22 years at Giltner and Clarks, and during the summer months, she was a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Giltner United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Darrell Adamson of O'Neill; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Minnie Butts of Central City and Hilda Major of Fullerton.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Eugene; and two brothers, Jack and Charles "Marvin."
