Robert (JD) J. Henry

Oakfield - Robert (JD) J. Henry, age 83, of Oakfield, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at United Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Henry was born January 16, 1920 in Caledonia, the son of the late William and Etta Garry Henry.

Mr. Henry served with the US Army during WW II. He belonged to the 2nd Armored Division; “Hell on Wheels” and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Among the medals he received were the European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medals with the Bronze Arrowhead and the Purple Heart.

His wife Bertha, preceded him in death. He is survived by his companion of many years, Helen Dunn of Oakfield; two brothers Kenneth Henry of Alabama and John Henry of Batavia; 6 sisters; Doris Henry of Caledonia, Viola DeBoover of Geneva, Alice (Joseph) Vanelli of Batavia, Arlene Charlanza of Batavia, Elizabeth (Lloyd) Gibson of North Carolina and Edith (Anthony) Vianese of Lima. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

He was the brother of the late George, Francis and William Henry, Eleanor Redinger and Marian Brew.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 12:00 PM Friday, June 27, 2003 at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home. Burial will be in Alabama Cemetery, Alabama, NY. Memorials may be made to UMMC Foundation, 207 Summit St. Batavia, NY 14020.

Mr. Glenn Hart Sr.

Batavia - Mr. Glenn Hart Sr., age 82, of Batavia, formerly of Byron, a mechanic at the former Ray Hart Garage in Byron and Barnard Chevrolet, Churchville, died Thursday, October 9, 2003, at Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mr. Hart was born May 2, 1921 in Batavia, a son of the late Chester and Alice Amish Hart.

He was a member of the Byron Fire Department and its Exempts and enjoyed country music, camping, square dancing and his grandchildren.

His wife, Marjorie Hart, died January 24, 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Laurie Hillabush of Byron and Dawn Hart of Batavia; a son, Glenn Hart Jr.of Byron; a brother, George (Elsie) Hart of LeRoy; five sisters, Jennie Parker of Rochester, Ruth (Dick) Volk of Oakfield, Elizabeth Lamb of Rochester, Marian (Maurice) Harrison of Batavia and Martha Bryce of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Hart of Florida and Doris (Dick) Ridley of LeRoy; 5 grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Raymond Hart, Dorothy Brown, Chester Hart, Jr. and Dean Hart.

Friends may call from 11 to 1 p.m. Monday at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia where services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Stafford Rural Cemetery, Stafford, NY. Memorials may be made to the family.

Amelia M. Griswold

Batavia - Mrs. Amelia M. Griswold, age 92, of Batavia, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the Batavia Nursing Home.

Mrs. Griswold was born November 20, 1910 in Poland, , the daughter of the late John and Mary Bury Smoles.

She was the wife of the late William S. Griswold who died in 1961. Mrs. Griswold was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include her son, William (Mona) Griswold of Pavilion; 5 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren and 1 Greatgreat Grandchild. Nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. (For your convenience during the construction of Main Street, please use our Ross St. entrance). Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, NY. Memorials may be made to Charity of the donor´s choice.

Mrs. Helen M. Gianopulos

Batavia - Mrs. Helen M. Gianopulos, age 94, of Batavia, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Gianopulos was born July 29, 1909 in London, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of the late Theodore and Edith Parker.

She was a member of Batavia Assembly of God for over 16 years.

Her husband, Anthony G. Gianopulos died 1987.

Survivors include three sons, Rev. Theodore (Iris) Gianopulos of Springfield, MO, William (Connie) Gianopulos of Haymarket, VA and Rev. George A. (Nancy) Gianopulos of Newark, NJ; a brother, Jack Parker of London, Ontario; three sisters, Jean (Gordon) Rush of London, Ontario, Dorothy Kushner of Burlington, Ontario, and Daisy Leonard of London, Ontario; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late George Gianopulos and the sister of the late Bill, Bob and Jim Parker, Betty Green, Louise Murphy and Peggy Cop.

Friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia where services will follow at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Genesee County Nursing Home, 278 Bank Street, Batavia NY 14020.

Margery J. Folger

Batavia - Mrs. Margery J. Folger, age 89, died Saturday, August 16, 2003, at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Folger was born January 12, 1914 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Wesley C. and Bertha Morris Prugh.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at the P. W. Minor Shoe Factory of Batavia.

Her husband, the late Harold L. Folger, died in 1983.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Jolene) Folger of Batavia; a daughter, Joan Faris of West Virginia, ; a sister, Louise (John) Salisbury of Phelps; a sister-in-law, Lois Folger of Batavia, 5 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren and Nieces And Nephews

There are no prior calling hours. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at Grand View Cemetery, Clinton St Rd., Batavia. Memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 405 E. Main St. Batavia, NY 14020 or the Alzheimers Association, Western New York Chapter, 1284 French Road, Depew, NY 14043-4882. Arrangements were completed by the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.

Mrs. Mary T. Eckenbrecht

East Bethany - Mrs. Mary T. Eckenbrecht, age 78, of East Bethany, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at her home while under the care of HomeCare & Hospice.

Mrs. Eckenbrecht was born August 11, 1925 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Ralph and Pietrina Valestro Pelligra.

Mrs. Eckenbrecht enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and spending time with her four cats.

Survivors include her husband, Robert R. Eckenbrecht whom she married December 27, 1965; four daughters, Margaret Eckenbrecht Bertini of Sarasota, Fla., Diane McCarthy of Virginia, Teresa (Steve) Blankenberg of Pittsford and Kathleen Tsymbal of Rochester; a son, Stephen (Deborah) Nicholas of Irondequoit; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was a sister of the late Sister Annunciata Pelligra.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, East Bethany. Memorials may be made to Parkinson´s Disease Foundation, 710 West 168th Street, New York, New York 10032-9982 or to a charity of the donor´s choice.

Mrs. Vivian M. Duttweiler

Batavia - Mrs. Vivian M. Duttweiler, age 75, of Batavia, who loved her cats, Simon and Jassy and all animals, died October 18, 2003, at the Batavia Nursing Home.

Mrs. Duttweiler was born November 17, 1927 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late William and Grace Betts Taylor. She was a graduate of Bennett High School in Buffalo. She worked for the Parklane in Buffalo, F. E. Mason and Son and retired in June 2003 from the P. W. Minor Shoe Factory.

Her husband, Roger died in 1972 and she was the sister of the late Ronnie and Rodrick Taylor.

Survivors include one daughter, Candee (George) T. McConnell of Batavia; a sister, Faith Taylor of Batavia; beloved cousin, Betty Schilk of Cheektowaga; 2 nephews, William (Karen) Kirsop of Perry and Timothy (Linda) Kirsop of Batavia, dear friend, Diane Sage of Batavia; great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends to share memories at the family home located at 10 Davis Ave., Batavia on Thursday, October 23, 2003 between 3 and 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to Animal Associates, PO Box 322, Corfu, NY 14036; Orangutan Foundation, 4201 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 407, Los Angeles, CA 90010 or to the family, who will distribute them to her favorite animal charities. Arrangements were completed by the H. E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home of Batavia.

Mr. William J. Redmond

Batavia - Mr. William J. Redmond, age 78, a retired Teamster's Union truck driver, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Erie County Medical Center.

Mr. Redmond was born April 6, 1926, in Batavia, the son of the late Arthur and Sylvia Rider Redmond.

He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the VFW and the American Legion. During World War II, her served in the Army Air Corps as a tailgunner.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Maier Redmond; his son, John T. (Pamela) Moffatt of Sylvan Beach; his daughter, Elizabeth M. Hanna of Batavia; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Shirley Flynn.

There are no prior calling hours. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia or Crossroads House, P.O. Box 403, Batavia, New York 14021.

Mr. John R. Moynihan

Batavia - Mr. John R. Moynihan, age 81, of Batavia, a former Captain for the City Of Batavia Fire Department for 31 years, died Thursday, (March 10, 2005), at home.

Mr. Moynihan was born June 8, 1923 in Batavia, a son of the late John and Rose Eichenger Moynihan.

Mr. Moynihan was a member of St. Joseph´s Church, the American Legion, the VFW in Batavia and St. Joseph´s Drum and Bugle Core. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed watching television, listening to his scanner and his cat, Whiskers. In 1947, Mr. Moynihan and his father became the first father/son firefighters to be active during the same time.

A veteran, he served with the Army from 1943 to 1945.

His wife, Bette, died February 21, 1993.

Surviving are his two daughters, Elizabeth (Ken) VanValkenburg of 82 South Lake Ave.Bergen, and Maureen (Bill) Weatherbee of LeRoy; a brother, Donald (Joan) Moynihan of Florida; Grandson, Ron Greenman of Baltimore; Grandson, John (Jennifer) Greenman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Grandson, Matthew (Melisa) Greenman of Brockport, NY; Grandson, Gary (Denise) Guiste of Batavia, NY; Grandson, Patrick (Bethany) Guiste of Alabama, NY; Grandson, David (Pat) VanValkenburg of Lake Katrine, NY; Grand daughter, Donna (Garth) Howard of Caledonia, NY; Grandson, Dan (Jennifer) VanValkenburg of Bergen, 14 grandchildren and 1 nieces.

Brother of the late Francis and Bernard Moynihan.

There are no prior calling hours.. A Memorial Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia. Memorials may be made to Crossroads House, P.O. Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021
