BOBBY JEAN WILLIAMS

Bobby Jean Williams, 60, of Dayton died Aug. 7, 2000 at East Houston Regional Medical Center in Houston.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

A native of Yarnell and a former resident of Sheldon, he lived in the Dayton area six years and was a Rescar Railcar repairman and mechanic in Channelview.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Williams of Dayton; daughter, Mary F. Tarver of Luther, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kenefick Southern Baptist Church Memorial Fund.

BOYD LEE WILSON SR.

Boyd Lee Wilson Sr., 47, of Beaumont died Aug. 7, 2000 at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Calvary Mortuary with burial at Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. today to time of service at the mortuary.

A native of New Orleans, he lived in Beaumont a number of years.

Survivors include his father, Eugene Wilson Jr. of Beaumont; sons, Boyd Lee Wilson Jr. of Beaumont and Anthony Allen of San Angelo; daughters, Baby Wilson of San Angelo and Victoria Allen of Fort Worth; sister, Marilyn Harrison of Fresno; brother, Eugene Wilson III of Houston; and three grandchildren.

GETTIS CARUTHERS

Gettis Caruthers, 96, of Hamshire died Aug. 12, 2000 at Arboretum Nursing Home in Winnie.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Broussard’s Cemetery in Hamshire under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Winnie. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

A native of Indiahoma, Okla., she lived in Hamshire most of her life.

Survivors include her son, Joe Caruthers of Hamshire; and grandson, Joe "Buck" Caruthers of Austin.

DAVID ALLEN COOTS

David Allen Coots, 34, of Fannett died Aug. 3, 2000 in Miami Beach, Fla.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at China Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont.

A native of California, he lived in Fannett most of his life and was a horse trainer.

Survivors include his sister, Tina Lynn Coots Matthews of Morse, La.; brothers, Michael Coots, Tommy Coots and Daniel Coots, all of Fannett; stepbrother, Alfred Rusty Coots of Lemon Grove, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

JAMES DAVID FORMAN

James David Forman, 46, of Groves died Aug. 12, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Port Arthur, he was a longtime resident of the area and a retired Eastern Airlines pilot.

Survivors include his mother, Nell Forman Domaschk of Groves; daughters, Brooke Forman and Megan Forman, both of Missouri City; sons, James D. Forman Jr. of Missouri City and Jared Forman of Call; and sister, Marlene Forman of Groves.

MARGIE ANN FREDERICK

Margie Ann Frederick, 63, of Port Neches died Aug. 12, 2000 at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.

Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. A vigil service will be at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was a lifelong resident of Port Neches.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin Frederick of Port Neches; daughters, September Frederick, Theresa Frederick, Donna Duncan, Cathy Frederick and Maria Sackett, all of Arlington; sons, Michael Frederick of Arlington and Vincent Frederick of Port Neches; sister, Lorena Strange of Bridge City; brother, Wallace Hebert of Nederland; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

GUADALUPE GALVAN

Guadalupe Galvan, infant daughter of Jose and Priscilla Galvan of Beaumont, died Aug. 9, 2000 at John Sealy Hospital.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Beaumont Haven of Rest Cemetery under the direction of Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.

Survivors other than parents include grandparents, Pete and Maria Deluna and Jose and Virginia Galvan, all of Beaumont.

GERTRUDE GUSEMAN

Gertrude Guseman, 89, of Beaumont died Aug. 11, 2000 at The Clairmont.

Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.

A native of Guffey, she lived in Beaumont many years.

Survivors include her son, Richard L. Guseman of Beaumont; daughters, Gail Barber of Lubbock and Linda Mask of Lytle; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

RUBY POWELL HALL

Ruby Powell Hall, 77, of Pineland died Aug. 11, 2000 at Twin Lakes Care Center in San Augustine.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Townsend Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of San Augustine County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Larry Hall of Arcadia, Fla., James Hall of North Carolina and Roger Dale Hall of Biloxi, Miss.; daughters, Brenda Motes of Brookeland and Xia Hall of Biloxi; sister, Bernice Busby of Kirbyville; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

JACKIE DOYLE HIGHTOWER

Jackie Doyle Hightower, 66, of San Augustine died Aug. 11, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Grapevine Missionary Baptist Church near San Augustine with burial at Dickerson Cemetery under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine.

A lifelong resident of San Augustine County, he was a San Augustine County heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hightower of San Augustine; sons, Kealon Hightower, Ralph Hightower and Micah Hightower, all of San Augustine; brother, Vernon Hightower of San Augustine; sisters, Norean Evans of San Augustine, Frankie Davis of Clyde, Katie Willey of Nederland and Lola Runnels of Nacogdoches; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

BERTHA ELIZABETH KOEN

Bertha Elizabeth Koen, 105, of Hardin died Aug. 12, 2000 at her residence.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at North Main Baptist Church in Liberty with burial at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin under the direction of Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

A native of Telico and resident of Hardin, she ran a café in Hardin.

Survivors include sons, Elgin Koen of Houston, Bill Koen and Herbert Koen, both of Hardin, and James Koen of Pattison; daughters, Rachel Annah Kersh of Hardin and Omelia Rabner of Houston; sisters, Merle Simpson of Telico and Rozell Fenton of Houston; brother, Guindel Alexander of Houston; 26 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; 78 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

THOMAS MATLOCK MATTOX

Thomas Matlock Mattox, 90, of Lake Charles, La., died Aug. 11, 2000 in Austin.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home in Newton with burial at Newton Cemetery in Newton. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Newton, he was a longtime resident of Lake Charles and was retired from United Gas Pipeline Co.

Survivors include his daughter, Norma Dell Berry of Austin; son, Thomas F. Mattox of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.

BOBBY M. McBRYDE

Bobby M. McBryde, 64, of Voth died Aug. 11, 2000 at Select Specialty Heights Hospital in Houston.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville with burial at Sand Hill Cemetery in Colmesneil.

A longtime resident of Voth, he was a retired Bethlehem Steel marine carpenter and a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his mother, Alphia McBryde of Lumberton; son, Craig McBryde of Lumberton; daughter, Melanie West of Nederland; brother, Ronald McBryde of Lumberton; sisters, Carol Ainsworth of Pearland and Annese McBryde of Lumberton; and four grandchildren.

HERSCHELL M. McDONALD SR.

Herschell M. McDonald Sr., 89, of Dry Creek, La., died Aug. 12, 2000 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, La.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Dry Creek with burial at Sugartown Cemetery in Sugartown, La., under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today at the funeral home and continues at noon Monday at the church.

A native of Sugartown, he lived in the Dry Creek/Sugartown area most of his life and was a retired United Gas sales representative.

Survivors include his daughter, Billie Margaret Richmond of Prattville, Ala.; son, Herschell "Hurkey" McDonald of Dry Creek; two granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

GLENDA RUGGLES MORRISON

Glenda Ruggles Morrison, 55, of Silsbee died Aug. 12, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of Silsbee, she was a retired Dollar General clerk.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Morrison of Silsbee; sons, William Morrison Jr. of Houston and Allen Morrison of Silsbee; daughter, Terri Grossman of Houston; and five grandchildren.
