Judy Ann Baldwin
(December 2, 1958 - September 9, 2011)

Judy Ann Baldwin, 52 of Calion, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House following a brief illness.

Born December 2, 1958 in Hampton, Arkansas she was the daughter of Charles and Joan McKenzie Pepper. She was a homemaker and a member of Temple Baptist Church of El Dorado.

Preceding her in death along with her mother are brothers, Gregory Leroy Pepper and Frank Curtis Pepper and a sister, Brenda Mae Teague.

Survivors include her husband Gary Baldwin and her father, Charles Pepper both of Calion, a sister, Tina Rae Carroll of El Dorado and two brothers, Randal Hines and Berry Pepper both of Calion. Also surviving are nieces, LaJoy Pepper Owens, April Lynn Taylor and Crystal Jean Darden all of El Dorado and nephews, Jason Pepper and Shannon Pepper both of Ohio and Bryan Teague of Mississippi. Surviving step-children are Amanda McKamie of Rosston, AR, Daniel Baldwin and John Baldwin both of Minden, LA and Shyann Baldwin of Kaplan, LA.

A visitation for friends and family will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 181 Nick Springs Road, Saturday afternoon from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

A private Interment will be held at Champagnolle Cemetery at a later date.

Cremation services under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Cleo Richardson Mease
(January 18, 1909 - September 10, 2011)

Cleo L. Richardson Mease, 102, of El Dorado, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Cleo was born January 18, 1909 in Sciota, IL to Albert Wilson and Vada (Granville) Lee. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord at the age of 9 while attending a Billy Sunday Revival.

Cleo married Howard L. Richardson in 1929 and they farmed near Sciota for most of the 1930’s and early 1940’s. Cleo also worked at the local A & P Grocery. During World War II they moved to Burlington, Iowa and worked in the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant to help the war effort. After the plant closed in 1945, they sold the farm, moved to Macomb, IL and opened Richardson’s Grocery & Meat Market. Cleo also worked in the catalog department of Montgomery Ward.

Cleo received a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed. from Western Illinois University and taught in the Vermont-Ipava-Table Grove (VIT) Consolidated School District until 1979. After 52 years of marriage Howard died in 1982. Cleo then moved to Sun City, Arizona where she married Clyde Mease who passed away in 1986. She moved to El Dorado in 2005.

A lifelong Methodist, Cleo was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. Deers, a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed attending Aglow meetings on a regular basis. She enjoyed playing bridge, and bird watching; she loved humming birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, four sisters, six brothers-in-law and three nephews.

Survivors include her children, Sandra (George) Maguire of El Dorado, Randy Richardson of Grand Prairie, TX, three grandsons, Jim Maguire of Austin, TX, Kevin (Aleksandra) Maguire of Boston, MA and James Richardson of Burleson, TX along with four great-grandchildren, three nephews and four nieces.

A Remembrance Reception will be held Sunday, September 25, 2011 in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul United Methodist Church, 700 W. 8th St., El Dorado from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hudson Memorial Nursing Home and the caregivers from Life Touch Hospice for the gentle, loving care given to Cleo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 700 W. 8th St., El Dorado, AR 71730 or to the John R. Williamson Hospice House, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, AR 71730.

Cremation services are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, IL at a later date.

Bobby Ray Rodgers
(October 28, 1935 - October 31, 2011)

Bobby Ray Rodgers, 76 of Junction City, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House following a brief illness.

Born October 28, 1935 in Marion, LA he was the son of Carl and Minnie Ellington Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers had retired after 28 years as a truck driver for ConAgra. He was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death along with his parents were a brother, Ted Rodgers, half-sisters, Gloria Gandy and Claudine Kimble and a half-brother, Carlton Rodgers, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Rodgers of Junction City, a son, Keith Rodgers (April Wren), daughters, Teresa Patterson (Steve), Glenda Jackson, Bobbie Young (Lee), Karla Goodwin (Rodney) all of El Dorado, brothers, Billy Rodgers (Jane) of El Dorado, Fred Rodgers (Carol), Henry Rodgers (Debbie) all of Farmerville, LA and Jackie Rodgers (Brenda) of Choudrant, LA and a sister, Clydus Jerry of El Dorado. Surviving grandchildren are Trent Patterson, Tasha Lundy, Brandon Young, Ryan Young, Tabatha Hudson, Tara Jackson, Tanna Jackson, Holden Goodwin, Dawson Goodwin, Brody Goodwin, and Isabella Goodwin along with four great-grandchildren, Gavin Ferrington, Taylan Ferrington, Heather Hudson and Jacob Hudson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Shirey and Rev. Clay Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. Thursday evening at Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado.

Memorials may be made to the John R. Williamson Hospice House, 3201 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, AR 71730.

J. D. Thurmon
(November 19, 1930 - October 31, 2011)

J. D. Thurmon, 80 of Junction City, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas following a brief illness.

Born November 19, 1930 in Union Parish, Louisiana he was the son of John W. and Georgia Viola Green Thurmon. Mr. Thurmon was an electrician and a veteran. He was a member of Blanchard Springs Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death along with his parents were his wife, Dorene Thurmon and a brother, James Thurmon.

Survivors include sons, Ronald G. Thurmon (Adrienne) of St. Louis, MO and Steve A. Thurmon (Sandra) of Junction City, daughters, Debra T. Plunkett (Lane) of Jonesboro, LA and Stacy Moseley of Calhoun, LA. Also surviving is one sister, Joann Smith (Rev. Billy) of El Dorado and three grandchildren, Ben Thurmon of Lillie, LA, Danny Thurmon (Rachel) and Christy Jones (Brian) all of Junction City and 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Blanchard Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 P. M. Wednesday evening at Bailey Funeral Home in Junction City.

Bessie 'Billie' Leona Poole
(September 20, 1915 - October 30, 2011)

Bessie 'Billie' Leona Poole

Bessie “Billie” Leona Poole, 96 of El Dorado, AR, died on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Medical Center of South Arkansas following a sudden illness.

Born on September 20, 1915 in Piggott, AR; she was the daughter of John R and Lula ‘Tiny’ Thompson Nettles. Bessie worked for El Dorado Pharmacy and was a longtime employee of Bell Pharmacy; she was known for her chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches. She was a member of Lawson Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Raymond Nettles, sisters Frances Hill and Drucilla Hawkins, a stepdaughter Margie Hays, great granddaughters Christie McBroom and Buffy Pepper and husband Henry Clifton Poole.

Survivors are brothers James L Nettles of South Berwick, ME, Louis R Nettles of Piggott, AR, sisters Nadine Dowdy of Rector, AR and Mary Katherine Lockard of Coring, AR., granddaughter Linda (Derrell ) Ashcraft, grandsons Robert (Carolyn ) Hays and Dennis (Angie) Hays all of Lawson, AR, great granddaughters Kimberly (Kevin) Smith and Terri (Gary) Williams, great grandson Albert Hays, great great grandchildren Ethan Smith, Will Calhoun, Morgan Lane, Joseph Pepper and Carson Williams, several nieces and nephews along with Mary Sue McKinnon her caregiver.

Funeral services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Lawson Baptist Church with Rev Don A. Travis officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery by Bailey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm. Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Gary Hill, 2911 Lawson Road, El Dorado, AR 71730.

Don E. Ramey
(March 7, 1952 - November 2, 2011)

Don E. Ramey, 59 of Junction City, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the John R. Williamson House following a brief illness. Born March 7, 1952 in Evansville, Indiana he was the son of Robert E. and Irene Harmon Ramey. Mr. Ramey was the owner of Archery Discount Supply in El Dorado and a member of Three Creeks Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ramey and a son Benjamin Ramey both of Junction City. Also surviving are his parents, Robert and Irene Ramey of El Dorado and a brother, Bob Ramey and his wife Cheryl of Ocala, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Three Creeks Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Elliott and Rev. James Sparks officiating. Interment will follow in the Three Creeks Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. Friday evening at Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado. Memorials may be made to Three Creeks Baptist Church Building Fund, 8772 Haynesville Highway, Junction City, AR 71749 or to the John R. Williamson Hospice House, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, AR 71730.
