Marjorie Hunter
January 20, 1935 - January 16, 2013

Marjorie Hunter, age 77, passed away on January 16, 2013 at Christus St. Michaels Health System with her family by her side. She was born on January 20, 1935 in Bradley, AR. to Gordon Ellit and Elizabeth (Rice) Hunter.

Marjorie was one those special ladies that people loved being around. She always had a kind word, a little wisdom, or a bit of humor to share with those who knew her and she had a heart that loved everyone. Although she was a career woman she loved her family and they came first and foremost. She helped raise many of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Marjorie had a long and rewarding career in the medical field for over 50yrs. She worked for Magnolia Regional Medical Center and retired in 2012 after 33yrs of service. During this time she touched the lives of many patients and coworkers who will dearly miss her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Gina Atkins and husband Todd of Magnolia, AR; two sons; George Miller of Magnolia, AR; James Miller and wife, Pam of Emmet, AR; three brothers; Gordon Hunter of Magnolia, AR; Jerry Hunter and wife, Ruthelma of Marysville, CA; Wayne Hunter and wife, Diane of Ruston, LA; eleven grandchildren; Melanie (Miller) Henderson and husband, Larry of Palestine, TX; Brittany (Miller) Murray and husband Tyler of Houston, TX; Christopher Miller of Magnolia, AR; Jennifer Miller of Faulk, AR; Russell Campos of Texarkana, TX; Michael Ferguson and wife Rachael of Dallas, TX; Kristian Ferguson of Pennsylvania; Cheryl Walton and husband, Jeremy of Magnolia, AR; Darrell Atkins, Roxanne Atkins, Bradley Atkins all of Magnolia, AR; fourteen very special great grandchildren; a very special friend, Lori Miller; nieces, nephews and a host extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Charles Hunter, Tillman Hunter, David Hunter; two sets of twin siblings; Otha and Opal and one set unnamed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron Owen officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 19,2013 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Hudgens, Allen Hunter, T.R. Hunter, Darryl Baxter, Jeremy Walton, Darrell Atkins; Honorary Pallbearers will be George Miller, James Miller, Christopher Miller.

Gage Shoffner
February 16, 1994 - December 24, 2012

Gage Ashley Shoffner, 18, of Smackover passed away Tuesday December 24, 2012 from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. He was born February 16, 1994 in El Dorado to Scott Ashley and JoAnn Michelle (Peace) Shoffner.

Gage was just a typical young man. He loved his truck, playing video games and spent countless hours working out. He was in his last year of High School and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Scott Shoffner, one brother, Christian Shoffner, grandmother, Patricia Shoffner and grandfather, Ivy Sandifer.

Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Ethan Shoffner of Urbana; one brother, Caleb Shoffner of El Dorado; his mother, JoAnn Davis of El Dorado; his special uncle and aunt, Jeff and Beth Hooks of Smackover; two cousins, Johnny Hooks and Michael Hooks; Papaw, Joe Hooks and Grandmother, Mary Peace all of Smackover; six aunts, Delana Jackson of Smackover; Tammy Osgood of Old Union; Holly Bowden of Smackover; Stacy Thompson of Smackover; Kim Sepulvado of El Dorado; Susan Heustis of El Dorado; two uncles, Kevin Peace of Parkers Chapel and Billy White of Junction City; several other family members and friends who dearly loved him.

Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel in El Dorado with Jimmy Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

Visitation will be from 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Glenda Jean (Pride) Franks

August 3, 1932 - March 31, 2010

Glenda Jean (Pride) Franks of Emerson, Ar. passed away at Homer Memorial Hospital Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the age of 77. She was born August 3, 1932 in Emerson, Ar. to W.T. and Bessie Lonie (Dodson) Pride.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Brister Baptist Church for more than 20yrs. Before her health failed her, she was active in many civic and community affairs including the Home Extension Club. Glenda was a big sports fan. She was formerly a basketball player and earned several awards for tournament competitions. In her later years she enjoyed watching and supporting her grandchildren playing baseball games.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Martel Pride.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60yrs., Willie G. Franks of Emerson, Ar; two daughters, Judy Hines and husband, Harold of Emerson, Ar. and Sandy Hanson and husband, Ronnie of Athens, Tx; one son, Raymond Kelley Franks of Emerson, Ar; one granddaughter, Lindsay Bragg and husband, Hugh of Magnolia, Ar; five grandsons, Jason Hines and wife, Kelly of Calhoun, La; Josh Hines and wife, April of Magnolia, Ar; Shane Hanson and wife, Lakreisha of Athens, Tx; Blake Hanson and wife, Lauren of Emerson, Ar. and Jordan Hanson of Emerson, Ar; eight great grandchildren, one brother, Robert R. Pride and wife, Deanie of Huntsville, AL. and a host of friends.

Funeral service will be 2:30pm Friday, April 2, 2010 at Brister Baptist Church with Bro. Eric Goble officiating. Burial will follow at Emerson City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Pallbearers will be Shane Hanson, Blake Hanson, Jordan Hanson, Jason Hines, Josh Hines and Hugh Bragg.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8pm at Bailey Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Rev. Robert Alex Adams

August 27, 1913 - August 21, 2009

Rev. Robert Alex Adams, 95 of El Dorado, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at his residence in El Dorado.

Born August 27, 1913 in Bolding, Arkansas, he was the son of Robert Henry Adams and Mary Lacy Graves Adams. In his youth he lived and worked on a farm and at the age of 19 followed a calling to become a minister. He first followed that commitment in 1932 by becoming the founding pastor and assisted in starting a church in Bastrop. Louisiana. Seeing the need for additional education, he sold his hogs and traveled by train to Anderson College (now University) in Indiana in order to prepare for fulltime ministry.

For 72 years he served churches in Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, and Indiana. Through all his travels and ministry he could not forget his roots in Huttig, Arkansas. He authored a book about his early life My Southern Heritage (relating to the Ouachita River Basin) in August, 1998.

The Rev. Adams was a leader in the communities and states where he served. He was a charter board member of Warner University in Florida, was known for his work with youth camps in Alabama, served the World Service in Indiana (International Agency of the Church of God), and was involved in PTA as president, School Board member, Red Cross board member, Boy Scout Leader, and Kiwanis Club in local communities where he served. He was instrumental in helping to launch Kingdom Builders which became a national program in church growth.

Preceding him in death along with his parents was his wife of 69 years in January 2008, Alice Snowden Adams, six sisters; Ethel Garris, Ruby Adams, Ada Bowen, Sallie Canady, Alice Worley and Myrtle Byrd and two brothers, Sam Adams and Marcus Adams. Also preceding him in death was a great-grandchild, Avery Markovich who died in an auto accident near Strong, Arkansas on her way to visit her great-grandpa in July 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Allen Adams and his wife Ruth Fraysur Adams of Henderson, Nevada, Charles Douglas Adams of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and one daughter, Marilyn Sue Adams Grubbs and her husband J. Perry Grubbs of Okolona, Mississippi and one sister, Agnes Trimble of Casselberry, Florida.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Frances Marie Adams Almeido of Henderson, Nevada, Reagan Scott Grubbs of Anderson, Indiana, Aleesha Quay Grubbs Ball of Carlsbad, California, and Sterling Alexander Snowden Grubbs, of Lake Wales, Florida and eight great-grandchildren; Alexis, Austin and Ashton Almeido; Kieran, Cade and Noah Grubbs and Zeke and Hannah Markovich; plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P. M. Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the First Church of God with Rev. Reagan Grubbs and Rev. Dalyn Helbling officiating. Entombment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Funeral home visitation will begin at 6:30 P. M. Monday, August 24, 2009.

The family would like to express appreciation to the member of the First Church of God for their solid, consistent support of Pastor Adams over the years. He was dearly loved by the parishioners of the local congregation. Sincere gratitude goes to his neighbors and friends locally and especially to Charlie Christian, friend and adopted son.

Rev. Alex Adams will be remembered for his deep faith, prayer life, and faithfulness to God and his family.

Nora A. (Chambers) Fitzgerald
October 13, 1920 - December 22, 2012

Nora A. (Chambers) Fitzgerald, age 92 of Strong, passed from this life on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at her home in Strong. She was born on October 13, 1920 in Zwolle, LA to the late Nathan Berrian Chambers and Fammie Shahan Chambers. Nora was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Strong. She especially loved working outdoors, whether she was tending her flowers or mowing the grass. Nora also loved to sew. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her grandkids were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Fitzgerald; five brothers and four sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Doug Fitzgerald and his wife Saundra of Crossett; one daughter, Charlotte Hester and her husband Bill of Monroe, LA; five grandchildren, Jon Fitzgerald, Lauren Gaught, Dr. Nathan Darby, Dr. Nicholas Darby and Nolan Darby; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Strong Cemetery, with Bro. Luther Harris officiating under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

The family wishes to show their sincere appreciation to Caregiver, Betty Robinson, Dr. Alvin Scott Hardin and wife Kay and the nurses at Life Touch Hospice for their care and concern of Mrs. Fitzgerald. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to a charity of your choice.

Ethelyn Dumas Guin Mitchiner
September 8, 1914 - December 23, 2012

Fort Smith, AR/Haynesville, LA - Mrs. Ethelyn Dumas Guin Mitchiner, age 98, died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Methodist Health and Rehab in Fort Smith, AR after a brief illness.

She was born September 8, 1914 in Emerson, AR in Columbia County. Ethelyn was the eldest daughter of Oscar and Mary Annis Williams Dumas. She was the widow of D. B. Mitchiner.

Survivors include a son, Don L. Guin and wife Ann of Flint, TX; daughter, Deebe M. Milford and husband Tommy of Alma, AR; one sister, Cloie Minter of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren, Greg Guin and wife Cindy of Rowlett, TX, Abigail M. Nida and husband Jonathan of Shreveport, LA, and Mary Allison Milford of Birmingham, AL. Great grandchildren include Caleb and Jordan Guin of Rowlett, TX and Grace and Jack Nida of Shreveport, LA.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Haynesville. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 12:00pm until 1:30pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dennis D. Dumas, Frank William Jones, Jr., Charles F. Minter, Jr., Tommy Milford, Greg Guin, and Jonathan Nida.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Haynesville, 2021 Main Street, Haynesville, LA 71038.
