Sotelo T. Fuentes Sr.

A memorial was held Saturday afternoon at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Sotelo Torres Fuentes Sr., 69, of Ceres. She died Thursday, June 6 at his home.

A graveside service was held Monday morning at the San Joaquin Valley National cemetery in Santa Nella.

Born Nov. 15, 1932, Mr. Fuentes was a native of Villacuna, Mexico, and had lived in Ceres for six years. He was a machinist for 25 years at Boise Cascade in Santa Clara. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He leaves behind his wife, Margaret Carmen Fuentes of Ceres; three children, Sotelo Fuentes Jr. of Ceres, Rolando Fuentes of Gilroy and Veronica Ysaak of Los Angeles; two stepchildren, Jeffery Eredia of San Jose and Jaime Eredia of Mountain View; and four grandchildren.

Remembrances may be sent to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Modesto, CA 95350.

Duane L. Intorf

A private memorial service was held Aug. 5 at Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz., for Duane L. Intorf, 66, of Sedona, Ariz. The former Ceres resident died July 29, 2002.

Mr. Intorf was a native of Santa Ana and was a graduate of Ceres High Schol and San Jose State University. He was also a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Intorf retired from Straube Associates in Mountain View after 27 years and moved to Sedona five years ago.

Besides his wife of 45 years, Arlene Turner Intorf, Mr. Intorf leaves behind three children, Dale Intorf of Santa Cruz, Roger Intorf of Riverbank and Cheryl Heller of Modesto; and six grandchildren. Survivors also include his parents in law, Eldie and Elsie Turner of Ceres.

Remembrances may be sent to Northern Arizona Hospice, 2698 Candy Lane, Cottonwood, AZ 86326; or to a favorite charity.

Alma C. Shaw

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Beginnings Christian Church for Alma C. Roseberry Shaw, 65, of Ceres. She died of natural causes Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002 at Brandel Manor Convalescent Hospital in Turlock.

Burial will be private; there will be no visitation.

Born April 16, 1937, Mrs. Shaw was a native of Seminole, Okla., and lived in Ceres for four years and previously lived in Turlock 21 years and in Modesto 32 years. Mrs. Shaw was a proofreader at Moore Business Forms.

She leaves behind her husband, Dan L. Shaw of Ceres; three children, Brent Shaw of Ceres, Bobbie J. Peeples of Modesto and Mary Sue Young of Empire; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Shaw.

Remembrances may be sent to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.

Orah H. Green

A private service will be held under the direction of Allen Mortuary for Orah H. Green, 97, of Modesto. She died of natural causes Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 at Casa de Modesto.

Born Dec. 29, 1904, Mrs. Green was a native of Oklahoma and lived in Ceres for 24 years and in the Modesto area since 1943. She retired as a licensed vocational nurse from Memorial Hospital Ceres.

Mrs. Green leaves behind two children, Colis Ericksen of Capitola and Don Green of Modesto; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ray Green.

Lola A. Henry

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Riverbank Memorial Chapel in Riverbank for Lola Alline Henry, 77, of Ceres. She died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Hale Aloha Convalescent Hospital in Ceres.

Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born April 6, 1926, Mrs. Henry was a native of Tulsa, Okla., and lived in Riverbank for 45 years prior to moving to the Modesto-Ceres area 15 years ago. She and her late husband, Luther Henry, owned and operated a grocery business from 1946 to 1980. Mrs. Henry was a member of Richland Faith Assembly of God Church.

She leaves behind her son, Herbert Henry of Ceres; two brothers, John McGrew of Tracy and Don McGrew of Modesto; and three grandchildren, Chris Henry of Ceres, Angela Henry of Modesto and Amanda Henry of Modesto.

Thomas N. Mendenhall

A funeral was held Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Thomas Neil Mendenhall, 65, of Stockton. He died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at his home.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Jan. 24, 1938, Mr. Mendenhall was a native of San Diego and lived in Stockton for a year. He previously resided in Modesto for 20 years and Hughson for 44 years. Mr. Mendenhall was a truck driver and had worked for California Tank Lines in Stockton 20 years. He was a member of the Teamsters union Local 439. Mr. Mendenhall enjoyed golf and the Oakland Raiders.

He leaves behind eight children, Thomas M. Mendenhall and T.K. Mendenhall, both of Stockton, Norman Mendenhall of Oakdale, Ronnie Burdno of Henderson, Nev., Todd Mendenhall of Waterford, Terry Merlo of Grover Beach, and Timi Carothers and Tiffany Gillespie, both of Turlock; two brothers, William Mendenhall of Fayetteville, Ark., and James Mendenhall of Hughson; his sister, Patricia Askew of Ceres; and 19 grandchildren.

Marie S. Hansen

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Harvest Presbyterian Church in Ceres for Marie Hansen, 83, of Ceres. She died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at her home.

Following the service there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Tuolumne River Lodge.

Born Feb. 5, 1920 in Colorado, Mrs. Hansen lived in California for 69 years and in Ceres for approximately 50 years. She was a member of Harvest Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Ceres community. She belonged to P.E.O., Modesto Chapter BH, Persephone Guild of Ceres, Ceres Senior Citizens Club, Ceres Women's Club, Tuolumne River Lodge, the Ceres Historical Society, and her Bridge Club of 42 years.

Marie was known for her witty personality and great sense of humor. She loved to travel, especially to Reno. She enjoyed playing cards and passing the time with friends and family.

She leaves behind four children, Kathy Hansen of Modesto, David Hansen of Hughson, Steven Hansen of Sacramento and Dennis Hansen of Modesto; three sisters; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christian Hansen.

Consuelo G. Munoz

A Mass was held Friday morning at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Consuelo Gonzalez Munoz, 75, of Patterson. She died of natural causes Monday, June 10, 2002 at her home.

Burial was at Patterson District cemetery under the direction of Hillview Funeral Chapel.

Born July 30, 1926, Mrs. Munoz was a native of El Zapote, Michoacan, Mexico, and lived in Patterson for 40 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Local survivors include son Juan G. Munoz of Ceres.

Larry L. Lybarger

A funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel in Turlock for Larry Lee Lybarger, 63 of Ceres. He died of natural causes Friday, Aug. 9, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center.

Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Sept. 24, 1938, Mr. Lybarger was a native of Coffeyville, Kan., and lived in Ceres for three years. He was a lead man at the General Foods plant in Ceres.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary Louise Lybarger of Ceres; four children, Linda Johnson of Sonora, Linda Resning of Stockton, Barbara Lybarger of Fresno and Tommy Underwood of Salida; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son James Lybarger.

Karen N. Saabye

A memorial service was held Monday at Ceres Christian Church for Karen Nadine Saabye, 47, of Ceres. She died of natural causes Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Lakewood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born Jan. 20, 1955, Miss Saabye was a native of Stockton and lived in Ceres for 13 years. She worked at Oopsa Daisy as a florist for 15 years. Miss Saaybye was a member of Ceres Christian Church.

She leaves behind her mother, Peggy Saabye of Ceres; two brothers, Howard Saabye of Modesto and Lars Saabye of Ceres; and her sister, Melody Dias of Ceres. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Saabye.

Byron J.L. Mires

A graveside service at Acacia Memorial Park in Modesto was held Wednesday morning for Byron Joshua Lee Mires, six months old, of Ceres. He died Feb. 21, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center, possibly a victim of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

The infant was born Aug. 11, 2002 in Dallas, Texas, and lived in Ceres for just two months.

Eaton Family Funeral and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves behind his parents, Jamey and Angela Mires of Ceres; two sisters, Cortney Ortega of Modesto, and Krystle Mires of Arlington; and his grandparents, Catherine Dykes of Ceres, Clyde Dykes of Bonham, Texas, and Norman and Ladonn Mires of Texas.

Eddie L. Spikes

A funeral service was held Monday morning at Valley Christian Center in Ceres for Eddie L. Spikes, 81, of Ceres. He died of heart failure at his home on Thursday, April 3, 2003.

Burial was at the San Joaquin Valley National cemetery in Santa Nella under the direction of Eaton Family & Cremation Service.

Born Oct. 16, 1921, Mr. Spikes was a native of Childress, Texas, and lived in Ceres for 47 years. He was a truck driver for 20 years and had worked for Hoagland's Transport Service in Modesto. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Spikes was a member of Valley Christian Center.

He leaves behind his wife, Helen L. Spikes of Ceres; two sons, Stephen E. Spikes of Empire and Timothy O. Spikes of Ceres; his sister, Pauline D. Isley of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
