Julian David Herrera

Infant

Julian David Herrera died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 in Tracy. Julian was born on Feb. 7, 2003 at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. He is survived by his parents Monica Medina of Manteca and David Herrera of Tracy; grandparents, Raul Herrera of Tracy, Cynthia Ann Baker of Louisiana and Patricia Medina of Manteca.

He was preceded in death by his uncle Richard Medina and great-grandmother Leonor Gomez. He will be greatly missed by his family, Julian spread a little sunshine into our lives.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Maternity Ward Staff at Sutter Tracy Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd., Tracy, Cal. 95376.

P.L. Fry & Son is in charge of funeral arrangements. Interment will be private.

Shelvie D. Jones

Manteca resident

Shelvie D. Jones died Sunday in Manteca. He was 66.

Mr. Jones was a native of Oklahoma and had lived in Manteca for the past four years. He was a self-employed tile contractor for 40 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Manteca.

He is survived by his wife Barbara R. Jones of Manteca; children Shelvie D. Jones Jr. of Modesto, Tonya D. Jones of Manteca, Jamie L. Jones of Manteca; brothers Thomas and James Jones of Arizona; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 1185 N. Main Street in Manteca. The Neptune Society of Northern California is in charge of arrangements. (Dated July 3, 2002)

Ella Nellie Scheeringa

Receptionist

Ella Nellie Scheeringa passed away on Monday at Colony Park Convalescent Home. She was 83.

Ms. Scheeringa was a resident of Ripon for 77 years. She was born on May 7, 1919 in Canada. She was a receptionist at Deegan Ripon Memorial Church for over 23 years. She was a past Calvary Reformed Church Elder and was the only Woman Elder in that church. She was a member of Calvary Reformed Church.

She is survived by her children Jenny Arends of Ripon, Jo-Ellen Bouma of Ripon, Louise Arends of Kerman, and Arlene Oswald of Modesto; nine grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel from 3 to 7 p.m. A service will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Reformed Church. Interment will be at Ripon Cemetery.

Remembrances may be sent to the Calvary Reformed Church Memorial Fund 724 2nd St. Ripon, CA 95366. (Dated November 13, 2002)

Armindo Silveira

U.S. Army Veteran

Armindo Silveira, 61, died on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 in Fresno. He was a native of Azores in Portugal and was born on Jan. 1, 1942. He was a resident of Merced for 15 years and lived in Manteca for 22 years.

Mr. Silveira is survived by his family; aunt Marjorie Madruga of Merced; nieces Mary Alice Machado of Castroville, Elizabeth Macedo of Seaside, and Godchild Lina Soares-Hill of Clovis; a nephew, Joseph Silveira of Castroville; brother Joe Silveira of Castroville; sister Maria Silveira of Watsonville. He was preceded in death by his brother the late Manuel Silveira of Pacific Grove.

Mr. Silveira was a veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a disabled veteran who served in Vietnam War. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, gardening and collecting many things. He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.

P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, from 1 to 5 p.m., 290 N. Union Rd, Manteca. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 525 E. North St., Manteca. Interment will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe, Gustine.

Robert "Bob" Morford

Maintenance Mechanic

Robert "Bob" Morford, 56, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 in Manteca. He was a native of Stockton and was born on February 22, 1947. He was a resident of Manteca for 18 years, previously of Tracy. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, the late Percy and Martha Morford.

Mr. Morford is survived by his wife of 18 years Patty Morford; his son, Ricci Morford of Tracy; siblings Aileen Myers of Manteca and James "Skip" Morford of Livermore; and two grandchildren.

Robert was a maintenance mechanic for Leprino Foods. He loved baseball, bowling, hunting, fishing, and going to the races at Sears Point. Restoring old cars was his passion. He loved to travel and tell jokes and loved family times and he loved life. He is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and family.

Fry Memorial Chapel of Tracy is in charge of funeral arrangements. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Tracy Public Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to the Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center, P.O. Box 298, Hughson, Cal. 95326.

Ralph Robert Crandall

Retired

Ralph Robert Crandall, born June 29, 1923 in Inlet, New York. Taken by our Lord on September 7, 2003. He was 80 years old. He served in the United States Army Air Force as a heavy equipment operator from 1942 to 1945. He settled in Torrance, California in 1954 and retired from the Aerospace Industry in 1980. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Beverly Jane Crandall, ten children, four daughters and six sons, 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son Jody Mathew Crandall. He was a loving and giving man and will be missed by all.

Funeral Services were held at Nativity Catholic Church in Torrance, Cal. on Sept. 15, 2003.

Michael Odom

Michael L. Odom, 52, of Oakdale died Wednesday, June 19, in Oakdale.

He was a native of Modesto. He lived in Oakdale for 35 years. He worked at Gallo Glass for 24 years. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Modesto.

Mr. Odom is survived by his wife, Nancy Odom of Oakdale; children, Terry Odom of Modesto and Kevin Odom of Petaluma; sisters, Betty Johnson, Billie Borba both of Modesto, Brenda Clinkerbeard of Oakdale; parents William and Pauline Odom of Riverbank and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, June 27, at 1 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Modesto. Visitation will be from 4- to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.

Oakdale Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Phillips

Robert P. "Bob" Phillips, 84, of Novato died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003 in San Rafael.

Mr. Phillips was a native of Hastings, Neb. He was a former resident of Oakdale, as well as Manhattan Beach. He worked as an aerospace painter for North American Rockwell. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He enjoyed fishing in Bishop and at the June Lake Loop. He loved his dogs and was an advocate of kindness to people and animals.

He is survived by his son, David Phillips of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Robin Phillips Buccheri of San Rafael; brother, Ray Phillips of Anaheim; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katharin "Kay" Keown Phillips; a brother, Richard Phillips and a sister, Ruth Phillips Hawkins.

Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.

Remembrances may be sent in his memory to the Humane Society.

Elida Ayala

A Mass was held Friday afternoon at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Elida Gutierriz Ayala, 68, of Ceres. She died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002 of natural causes at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of the McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs.

Born Feb. 16, 1934, Mrs. Ayala was a native of Mexico and lived in Ceres for 28 years. She was a homemaker and member of St. Jude's Catholic Church.

She leaves behind her husband, Audias Ayala of Ceres; her children, Yolanda Ramos, Javier Ayala, Roberto Ayala and Rosa Ayala, all of Modesto, and Jose Ayala of Ceres; her brother, Javier Gutierriz of Mexico; her sister, Elisa Rodriguez of Mexico; and 11 grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Kelley D. Adcock

A graveside service was held Thursday at Lakewood Memorial Park for Kelley Douglas Adcock, 41, of Ceres. He died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Born June 26, 1962, Mr. Adcock was a native and lifelong resident of Ceres. He was a radiator mechanic for 25 years and had worked for Discount Auto Electric & Radiator in Modesto. Mr. Adcock enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He leaves behind his companion, Julie DeWitt of Ceres; his son, Kevin Adcock of Ceres; his parents, George and DeMorris Adcock of Ceres; his sister, Shelley Overcash of Ceres; his half-sister, Elizabeth Adcock of Ceres; and his grandparents, Jeanette Barnes and Zola Adcock, both of Ceres.

Remembrances may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.

Velma Russo

Velma Russo, 84, of Manteca died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002.

She was a native of Kentucky and had resided in Manteca for 25 years. Mrs. Russo was a homemaker. She loved to garden. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Manteca.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula Rico of Oakdale and Sharon Zugnoni of Manteca; son-in-laws, Andrew Rico of Oakdale and Michael Zugnoni of Manteca; brother, Dacre Gosser of Texas; four grandchildren, Adam Rico of Northridge, Andrea Rico of Oakdale, Brett Zugoni and Melissa Fields, both of Sacramento; and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Russo.

Private family services and burial were conducted, interment was in Santa Nella.

Remembrances may be sent to Alzheimer's Aid Society, 105 So. Washington St., Lodi, CA 95240.
