Mary Hallstone, née Andre, 99, long-time resident of Salinas, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014. Mary was born Nov. 11, 1914 in Turlock, the second child of Mary Lourenco Jorge and Joe Enos Andre of Corvo, Azores.
She grew up on a farm in Turlock where she attended schools, met and married her husband John Allan. John and Mary began their life together in Modesto where son, Kenneth Lee and daughter, Vicki Marie were born. In 1950, they moved to Salinas where John was manager of Production Credit Association. Their third child, Donald Anthony, was born in Salinas. Mary worked at JC Penney's and the Veterans Administration before beginning her favorite secretarial jobs at Palma and Notre Dame High Schools. She retired in 1978 and enjoyed her Love Boat Cruise and several cross country trips with friends and family. She and John walked to daily Mass at Sacred Heart Church until John's passing in 1996. Mary was cared for at home by two loving caregivers: Mele Molitika and Meleseini Vea.
Mary was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Joseph and youngest brother, Clarence.
She is survived by her sister, Madaline (Madge) Marlais of Walnut Creek; sisters-in-law, Alda Andre of Sacramento and Marvee Andre of Turlock; sons, Ken (wife, Gudo) of Fresno, Don (wife, Joyce) of Bonney Lake, WA; daughter, Vicki (husband, Phil) Broughton of Escondido; grandsons, Michael (Aili) of Waianae, HI, Luke (Cassie) of Bonney Lake, Adam (Laura) and Steven (Megan) of Portland, OR; great-granddaughters, Kyra, Taya, and Ayla, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.
Rosary will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the Struve & Laporte Chapel.
Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at Blessed Edmund Rice Chapel, Palma High School, 919 Iverson St., Salinas, CA 93901.
Burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorial donations to Palma or Notre Dame High Schools.
Funeral arrangements by Struve and Laporte Funeral Home.

Hampton, Samuel M. J.

Samuel M. J. Hampton 77 of Las Vegas passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014. He was born July 24, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He enjoyed play his Xylophone, Drums, Recording and playing with bands in Las Vegas, Reading his Bible, Bike riding and Traveling.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents Daisy Beatrice Hampton and William Kite Hampton, Sr., sister, Norma Grace Johnson and brother, John T. Hampton.
He is survived by his brother, William Kite Hampton, Sr. of Oak Hills, CA, sister, Wilmetta Rose Eckford of Beaumont, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA 93901.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA 93901.
Military Honors will be 2:30p.m.Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Road, Santa Nella, CA 95322.
The family would like to Thank his niece, Lydia Hampton-Stewart and friend, Bridgett Wiggins for the Love and support during his time of Illness.

Dorothy Denise Collins
August 24, 1961 - February 22, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Dorothy Denise Collins, affectionately known as Niecii to her family and friends, was born August 24, 1961 in Salinas California to Bertha and Eugene Collins. Being the fourth child did not keep her from going unnoticed. She had an outspoken and fun loving spirit that captivated everyone.
Niecii graduated from North Salinas High school in 1979. During that time she began modeling and working at Skyline Health Care. She realized her passion for health care and began a 23 year career as a Phlebotomist for Unilab.
In 1981, she gave birth to her only child Lejah. She and her daughter shared a special bond. They were best friends. Whenever you saw Niecii, you would see Lejah right by her side. On June 16, 2011 Niecii became "Yaya" to her first and only grandson, Zaire, who she loved with all her heart.
Niecii was a talented artist that enjoyed watching her westerns, The Walton's, Little House on the Prairie, Gun Smoke, and Bonanza. However, what she loved more than anything was spending time with her family. She had a unique connection with all of her nieces and nephews, and affectionately called them "Sugah."
Niecii loved the Lord and prayed every day. She knew her strength came from him. On Sunday February 22, 2015, she was called home to be with the Lord.
She is preceded in death by Maternal and Paternal Grandparents, Brothers Lesley H. Henson and Eugene Hogg Jr., Uncle Henry Washington, Aunt Julia B. McKenzie-Moore and Nephew Ricardo Aaron Mason Blake.
She is survived by her Mother Bertha M. Collins, Father Eugene Collins Sr., Brothers Eugene Collins (Aline) of San Marcos, Tx; Ben Henson and Victor Hogg (Tammie) of Salinas, Ca; Bruce Blake of San Marcos; Sister Jimmie Kay Collins Ware (Sedrick) of Napa, Ca; Daughter Lejah D. Felder and Grandson Zaire L. Jones of Salinas, Ca; 8 Nieces, 3 Nephews, 2 Great-Nieces, 1 Great-Nephew, and Best friend, whom was more like family, Rosie Hernandez.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 2nd, 2015 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 west San Luis Street Salinas, Ca 93901.
Chapel Service will be held Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015 at 1:00pm at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, followed by a burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street Salinas, Ca 93901.

Maefield Osborne
February 6, 1940 - May 27, 2017

Resided in Clovis, CA
Maefield Osborne, 77, of Clovis CA, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Fresno, CA. She was born on February 6, 1940 in Dillon, South Carolina.
She was a homemaker. She belonged to Catholic Daughters of America, Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Peter Claver and Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by husband Ronald Andrew Osborne, son Reginald Osborne and sister Carrie Ware.
She is survived by sons Ronald Andrew Osborne Jr. of Sacramento, Ralph Osborne of Italy; daughters Tanya Osborne –McKenzie of Clovis, April Douglas of Maryland; sister Minnie Rivers of Oklahoma, brother Curtis Ware of Florida, and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm to7:00pm Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 West San Luis Street, Salinas, CA 93901.
Vigil will be held 7:00pm Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 West San Luis Street, Salinas, CA 93901.

Gladys M. Keema (Kraul)
March 9, 1925 - April 24, 2017

Resided in Salinas, CA
Gladys Keema passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 92. She loved nothing more than music, dancing, and spending time at the Arroyo Seco cabin with her family. She was known as Nonie by all an loved by many.
Organizations: Gladys was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West since 1975, and later became the first woman to be a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West in 1994. She was very active in both groups.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Svend and Ruth Kraul, her three brothers, and her husband, Ernest Keema (Ernie).
Gladys is survived by her three sons, David Keema (Wendy) of Priest River, ID: Gary Keema (Barbara) of Salinas, CA; Robert Keema (Lisa) of Salinas, CA; Grandchildren, Garth Keema, of Salinas, CA; Bryan Keema of Fairfax, VA: Haylie Keema of Salinas, CA; Heather Keema of Edina, MN: Krysta Keema (Jonathan) of King City, CA: Step-Grandson Kevin (Vanessa) McIntosh and two great-grandchildren Jacob and Emily McIntosh; and Great Grandson Reed Eddington.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sheriff's Posse Grounds, 395 Old Natividad Rd. Salinas, CA on May 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm.

Karen Kiyoko Kitamura
June 6, 1926 - January 3, 2018
Born in Salinas, California
Resided in Salinas, CALIFORNIA
Karen Kiyoko Kitamura, a life-long resident of Salinas was born June 6, 1926 and passed away January 3, 2018.
Karen was the eldest child of Saburo and Asayo (Shigemasa) Kitamura. She worked with family in Salinas in many different endeavors including farming and helping at the family grocery store. Her only departure from Salinas was when the family was relocated to Poston, Arizona during WWII. She graduated high school while they were interned. Many of her nieces have fond memories of doll clothes that she made for them - from stylish Barbie outfits to knitted jackets for their Cabbage Patch dolls.
The family is grateful that she was able to stay in a supportive senior living home for the past couple of decades. The family would like to thank Elena Tumacder and everyone at St. Charles Guest Home for their thoughtful care of Karen.
She is survived by her siblings: Janice Higashi (Salinas), Harvey (Kris) Kitamura (Salinas), Loren (Nellie) Kitamura (Salinas), Doris Uyeda (Monterey), Shirley (Sam) Matsuyama (Salinas), and Naomi Kitamura (Puerto Vallarta, MX) as well as her nieces - Jo Ann (Michael) Hayashida, Shari Higashi, Julie Kitamura, Deanna (Roger) van Klaveren, Jill (William) Siegrist, Erin (Marc) Nishimura, Amy (Mike) Hull, and Lindy (Carl) Metz and nephews - George Sam (Margaret) Oki, Loren (Cyndy) Oki, Gary Higashi, Ken (Lyn) Higashi, Bill (Lorrie) Kitamura, Matt (Colette) Kitamura, Rick (Ellen) Kitamura, Ron Kitamura, and Kerry (Tomoko) Uyeda and many great nieces, great nephews, and extended family. Karen will join in heaven with her parents, Saburo & Asayo Kitamura; sister, Joan Oki; niece, Carolyn Higashi; and nephew, Brian Matsuyama.
Funeral services will be private.
Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation in her name to Lincoln Avenue Church (Salinas, CA)
