Linda Rascon Williams, 24 of Salinas, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013. She was born July 28, 1989 in Yuma, Arizona.
She was a Security Officer for First Alarm Security & Patrol Inc. for 2 years.
Linda is survived by her mother, Lorena Rascon of Yuma, AZ, grandmother, Eva Vallesillo, aunts, Mirna Florez of Yuma, Deyanira Rascon of Yuma, brothers, Noe Marquez of Mexico, Juan Pedro Marquez Rascon of Yuma.
Funeral Mass will be held today, Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 1:00p.m. at Madonna Del Sasso Church, 320 E. Laurel Drive, Salinas, CA.
She will be missed by her best friends Cynthia Ojeda and Ozzy Jimenez.

Gloria M. Curtis (nee Tornich)
September 29, 1923 - October 19, 2014
Resided in Salinas, CA
Gloria M.Curtis (nee Tornich) left us on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014. She was 91. Born in San Francisco, she graduated from Mission High school, lived most of her life on York Street, and enjoyed several years working at the Emporium. For the past 25 years she lived in Salinas, CA, where she died.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly McKinney, her grandchildren Erin Buxton and Tracy McKinney. Also survived by children Nancy Young, Arthur G. Curtis, and their children and grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Arthritis Foundation

Shirley Marie Montgomery Rappe

Shirley Marie Montgomery Rappe 66, of Salinas passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014. She was born August 26, 1948 in Atascadero, CA.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Rappe of Salinas, daughter Melanie (Jeremy) Burg, grandchildren, Jazelle Evelyn, Xander Nicholas, sister, Tammy Genito, and brother, Richard Montgomery.
Services will be private, family and friends will be notified.

Kirt Stanley Andrus
May 27, 1955 - November 2, 2011
Resided in Salinas, CA
Kirt Stanley Andrus 56, died peacefully at home with his family by his side November 2, 2011. He faced his battle with cancer with courage and without complaint. Kirt was born May 27, 1955 in Salinas California to Kenneth Andrus and Carolyn (Nielsen) Andrus. He graduated from Alisal High School in 1973 where he earned an 800 on Sat Math, loved basketball, baseball and F.F.A. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with highest honors in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Ag Management. Upon graduation Kirt went to work for Union Sugar as a field man.
Twenty-seven years ago Kirt stepped into the life of Sandra Lazaroti Hayes and 3 children Christine, Neil, and Timothy. Kirt was our Knight In Shining Armor. He decided to venture into the farming business in Gonzales, farming the ranch he purchased from his grandparents E. John and Ellen Nielsen Two of the happiest days of Kirt's life was the birth of his daughter Carolyn Marie Andrus and his son John Kenneth Andrus. All of his children made him proud at what they have become.
Kirt loved hunting and sport fishing. He had a lot of great memories but 2 standouts where his trip of Africia and the Jeep Scrambler trips down Baja. What happens in Mexico stays in Mexico. He was a member of Cal poly Alumni, Lifetime member King City Young farmers, NRA, Farm Bureau, House of Knowledge (cement Head) and Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation, where he took a lot of pride and responsibility in raising the funds for construction of the fair barns. The King City Fair was a special place for the Andrus Family. For many years his father Ken was involved and Kirt followed in his footsteps with pride. Kirt often said the fair was their family vacation, along with their summer cabin in Arroyo Seco.
Kirt was preceded in death by his parents Ken and Carolyn Andrus. He is survived by his wife Sandra Lazaroti Andrus, children Christine (Stephen), Neil, Timothy (Sheri), Carolyn and John. Sisters Karen (Dave), Sharon (Rory), Brother Craig (Vicki) . many nieces and nephews. Recent joys of his life was the addition of 2 grandsons Stefano Goldman and Vincenzo Hayes.
Many thanks to all the dear friends and family. Your visits, flowers, food and prayers will never be forgotten.
We have profound graditude for all who compassionately cared for Kirt through his journey. Dr Peyman Haghighat and staff, Neil Rudo, R Brickley Sweet and staff, Mark Vierra and Staff and Ann Rice.
There will no services as per Kirt's request. There will be a gathering of all who were touched by Kirt's life.

James Delaney
April 29, 1926 - October 31, 2014
Resided in Seaside, CA
James Delaney (Jim), 88 of Seaside CA passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 29, 1926 in Columbia SC.
James was married to his adoring wife of 63 years Grace M. Delaney. They were married on June 19, 1952 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lawton OK.
As a child growing up in Columbia SC, he had a couple of great passions – cars and flying. He often talked about sitting for hours watching Packard Cars roll off the assembly line near his home and he was so fascinated with flying he would draw airplanes on his homework assignments.
He joined the US Army in 1944. His love of flying caused him to aspire to become an Aviator. He fulfilled his dream when he successfully completed the Warrant Officer Aviation course - becoming the first African American helicopter pilot in the US Army.
In his early aviation career, he was a member of the 8th Transportation Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC. He flew single and double rotor helicopters as well as fixed wing aircraft. During the war, he evacuated the wounded, transported men and equipment to and from battle areas and laid communication lines along treetops. During one of his routine missions during the Vietnam War he was shot down and managed to escape and evade until he was picked up unharmed by friendly forces.
James and his family lived all over the world, including Columbia SC, Jersey City NJ, Ft. Bragg NC, Ft. Sill OK, Lawton OK, Ft. Belvoir VA, Hanau Germany, Ft. Devens MA, Illesheim Germany, Ft. Ord CA, Seaside CA.
He was a true hero and inspired countless people with his words of encouragement and wisdom. He was the recipient of many military awards, medals and recognition: NDSM w/10LC (National Defense Service Medal), EAME (European African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal), Phil Lib (Philippine Liberation Ribbon) ACM (Army Commendation Medal), WWII Vict Med, APCM (Asiatic – Pacific Campaign Medal), OAM(Japan), GCM w/2Clasps (Good Conduct Medal), UNSM (United Nations Service Medal), KSM (Korean Service Medal), ROKPUC ( Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation), Amer Pres Unit Cit, Army Aviator Badge, AFEM (Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal), AFRM (Armed Forces Reserved Medal), Sr Army Aviator Badge, AM w/160LC (Air Medal), BSM (Bronze Star Medal), VSM (Vietnam Service Medal), RVNCM w/60dev (Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal) and Meritorious Service Medal.
His Military education included: OCS - Officers Candidate School, Army Aviation School and Aviation Safety Course.
After an esteemed career, he retired from the Army in September of 1974 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4) after serving 30 years. He achieved the highest Warrant Officer rank at that time. He then went to work at Macy's Department store in Monterey CA as a Security Officer for 24 years.
In 1978, he received his AA degree from Monterey Peninsula College.
James was a devoted family man and had numerous hobbies and interests. He loved new technology and was an electronics aficionado. A couple of his favorite things to do were take trips to Fry's Electronics in San Jose and attend the yearly CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. He relished spending time with his family and enjoyed outings with them to attend Air shows and Air Races. He loved going to car shows with his buddy, his great-grandson Christopher Brinson. They attended the Concours d' Elegance auction and car displays together. He was a science fiction buff - one of his favorite shows was "Dr. Who". He had a video collection that contained thousands of DVD's . He was a Photographer and owned 17 cameras at one time. He collected Coins and Stamps.
James is survived by his wife Grace Delaney of Seaside CA; Sons: James Delaney (Mitra) of Holland MI and Michael Delaney of Seaside CA; Daughters: Sheryl Delaney (Jonathan) of Yorba Linda CA, Patricia Rene Delaney-Kidd (Daniel) of Salinas CA and Stacey Delaney-Frye of Seaside CA; Sister: Lillian Edney of Columbia SC; Brother: Richard Delaney of Phoenix AZ; Grandchildren: Tiffani Delaney, Spencer Delaney, Alexander Delaney, Scott Delaney, Airianna Delaney, Julian Delaney, Kevin Delaney, Quianna Santos, Alana Delaney, Nicole Delaney, Kamiko Young, Antonio(Tony) Aaron, Jamal(JJ) Dixon, Dominic Porter, Chavon Scott, and a host of Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and other family and friends in various States.
James is preceded in death by his son Kevin Wayne Delaney and his mother Essie Delaney.
Pallbearers: Antonio (Tony) Aaron, Jonathan Bausley, Julian Delaney, Scott Delaney, Jamal (JJ) Dixon, Lionel Mosley.
Honorary Pallbearers: James B. Delaney, Michael Delaney, Christopher Brinson, Dominic Porter, Spencer Delaney, Alexander Delaney, Don Jones.
Burial will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10:30 am at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, CA.

Rev. Amadeo Q. Zarza
March 30, 1910 - September 13, 2010
Resided in Dixon, CA
Rev. Amadeo Q. Zarza, of Dixon, CA for the past 6 years, died peacefully at the home of daughter Mary Anne and son-in law Eduardo Floresca on Monday Sept. 13 at the age of 100.
Hailing from the Philippines, he was a Minister at the biggest Protestant Church in Bagiuo City for over 20 years. He came to the United States in 1961 with his family to be the Pastor for St. Philips Presbyterian Church in Salinas, CA for 10 years.
He is survived by his children, Mary Ann Floresca, Marilyn Ilumin, Myrna Jean Zarza and Joel Zarza and his adopted children Charlie Zarza, Flordeliza Z. Ortega and Artemio Zarza.
Visitation will be held on Thursday September 16, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00pm to 9:00 pm at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.
An evening of Reflections service will be held Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the Struve and Laporte Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 315 E. Alvin Dr., Salinas, CA 93906.
Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901 at 2:30 pm.

Luna Geneva Donaghe, 88 of Salinas passed peacefully at Skyline Windsor surrounded by her family Monday, March 9, 2015 in Salinas. She was born April 19, 1926 in Tennessee.
She was a homemaker for many years.
She is survived by: sister, Joyce Taylor, daughters, Sharon Poljak, Debbie Donaghe, Donna Talarino, Denise Wilson and Michele Bryant.
10 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
