Murphy, Martha B.

Martha B. Murphy, of Galliopolis Ferry, West Virginia, passed away on May 10, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was 70 years old. Martha was born on August 28, 1943 in Brentford, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Anna and Early Senate.

Martha loved life. She enjoyed laughing and spending time with her family. She spent a great deal of time in the great outdoors, walking with her dog, Misty. She loved to tinker and fix whatever she could get her hands on. This was evident in her professional life too, as she worked as a Cable Installer for many years.

Martha was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Caldwell and Genevieve Cunningham; and her brothers, Archie, Thurley, Harley, and Eugene Murphy. She is survived by her daughter Tammy Botkin of California; Grandchildren, Christopher Deckelman and Jacqueline Martine; and Great-Grandchildren, Blake Allen and Claire Deckelman. She also leaves behind her siblings, James and Theodore "Teddy" Murphy, Christina Edwards; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE. Friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow services at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Margaret J. "Peggy" Feldmann

Of Newark, DE, born February 27, 1946 passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 with her loving family at her side.

Born in Wilmington, DE, Peggy was the daughter of the late Roy T. and Hester C. (Morris) Walton. Peggy earned an associates degree from Penn Hall Junior College in Chambersburg, PA. She was the co-owner and secretary/treasurer of the family business, Walton Corporation, for over 30 years. Peggy was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was an avid gardener and was active with her grandchildren in 4-H, raising chickens and rabbits. Peggy loved animals, especially all of her dogs and cats.

Peggy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her husband, 4 sons and daughters-in-law, and her beloved grandchildren; Megan, Sara, Hannah, Ashley, Paige, Lindsey, Billy and Emma. Also surviving are a brother, sister, nieces and nephews.

Private services were held May 15, 2014 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Ebenezer United Methodist Church Education Ministry, 525 Polly Drummond Road, Newark, DE 19711.

Samardza, Dorothea Antoinette

Dorothea A. (Tribuna) Samardza, age 87, of Hartly, DE, lost her battle with cancer on June 14, 2013.

Born in Boston, MA on April 19, 1926, "Dot" married Emil J. Samardza of Staten Island, NY on November 22, 1951. Her husband, Emil, died in 2007.

The family moved to Delaware from Boston, MA with General Foods in 1964 and built a home in the Hartly area. Upon enrolling her children in public school, Dot became involved in the education sysem in Delaware. She was active in local and state PTA (now known as PTO) and served on the Capital School District board for 5 years, from 1970 - 1975. She was also involved in local politics for several years.

She attended Boston's Burdett College for business and held a number of administrative jobs through the years. She retired from the Delaware Cooperative Extension at Delaware State University in 2001.

Dot was also an accomplished seamstress. While still in Boston, she trained with Wolff-Fording, a retail costume company still known for its dance costumes. Dot worked on everything from curtains and clothing to wedding dresses and ballet tutus.

She reconnected with her family in Boston over the last few years, beginning a tradition of annual reunions for both the Tribuna and DeCicco families.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine and sons Charles and John (Melanie).

Burial will be private and there will be no viewing. Condolences may be sent to the family or Pippin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Cancer Support Community Delaware or Delaware Hospice are suggested.

Hager, Dorothy Amelia

Dorothy Amelia (Flowers) Hager, age 84, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 3, 2006. Mrs. Hager loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading.

Mrs. Hager is survived by her son, David R. Hager Sr. and his wife Kathy; her daughter Elaine H. Creek and her husband Donald, Sr.; her brother Richard Flowers; her sister Eleanor McHenry; 6 grandchildren: Stephanie Lynn and her husband Joshua, David R. and his wife Jennifer, Donald and his wife Caroline, Steven and his wife Tracy, Kevin and his wife Kimberly, and Brian, who is serving in Iraq, and his wife Shannon; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Oscar Hager and 2 sisters, Lillian Moffit and Mildred Brownback.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2006 from 6-7 PM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans, Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service at 7 PM. Burial will be Thursday, September 7, 2006 in the Hatboro Cemetery, Hatboro, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mrs. Hager's memory to the Calvert Manor Nursing Scholarship Fund, 1881 Telegraph Rd., Rising Sun, MD 21911.

Kenneth S. Cretella

Age 72, of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully comforted by his family at his home on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.

Born in Girard, OH, Kenneth was the son of the late Sullivan and Helen Cretella. He served his country proudly in the US Marine Corps. For 30 years, he worked for Leaseway Motor Car before starting his own business, K.S. Cretella Landscaping. He was a member of St. Rose Parish in Girard, OH.

He will be remember and missed by Ro Cretella as a wonderful husband and bestfriend; by his daughter Cynthia Renee Descenna and her husband Thomas of Warren, OH, son John Brown and wife Cathy of Wilmington, DE, and son Andy Cretella of Newark as a strong and protecting father; his four grandchildren, Chelsea and Kyle DeScenna and Madeleine and Karri Brown, as a generous and loving man; and his caregiver Tyler Smith, as a close friend and confidant.

Kenneth was an amazing man and we were all truly lucky to know him. We invite you not to mourn his death, but instead to celebrate his life on Monday, June 17th between 10:00 and 11:00am at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where a Memorial Service will begin at 11:00am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810 or to the Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarriorsproject.org.

Hasson, Marion O.

Marian O. Hasson, age 89, passed away on May 20, 2013, at Heartland Hospice after a brief illness.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on May 31st, 1923, Marian was raised in Claymont and was a graduate of Claymont High School and Beacom Business College. She served her country during W.W. II as a member of the US Navy's WAVES division. Upon discharge from military service, she joined the DuPont Company for a 49 plus year career, primarily located at Louviers in Newark. She was an executive assistant to several different senior managers in engineering services & construction management.

Marian was a fan of baseball, especially the Phillies. She was an avid reader throughout her lifetime. Additionally, she thoroughly enjoyed nature, particularly feeding birds, specifically Cardinals & Blue Jays. Later in life, she was a dedicated caregiver to both of her parents.

Marian was the daughter of the late Paul T. Hasson and Bessie Lawrence Hasson. She was predeceased by her brother Paul T. Hasson, Jr. She is survived by her nephew, Paul L. Hasson and her grand nephew, John Hasson. Friends and family will continue to love and will miss her.

Services will be private.

Kramer, Fannie Mae

Fannie Mae Kramer, 67, died Monday, May 20th, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 20, 1946 in Prairie, Ohio to the late Levi and Mary Borntreger. During her long, courageous battle with cancer, her faith and trust in God never wavered. She loved the Lord and was looking forward with great anticipation to meeting her Savior and being reunited with loved ones. A reflexologist and neuromuscular therapist for 39 years, she worked largely within the Amish Community as well as helping many other clients, friends and family. She had many hobbies which included reading, quilting, painting and bird watching. Her special joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was known for her pies, the best in the world!!

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who provided loving care to Fannie Mae, including family, friends, and the staff of Delaware Hospice.

She is survived by her three sons, Robert Kramer and his wife, Denise of Winter Haven, FL, Will Kramer of Dover, DE and Joe Kramer of Dover, DE and five daughters, Charity Roberts, wife of Dale Roberts of Dover, DE, Faith Mason, wife of Dave Mason of Dover, DE, Hope Davis, wife of Mike Davis of University Place, WA, Melody Japinoski, partner of Bruce Young of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Grace Kramer, partner of Andy Brubacher of Harrington, DE and her 17 grandchildren; Brittany and Megan Kramer, Brandon and Balien Kramer, Joey and Elizabeth Kramer, Jessica and Cody Roberts, Scott and Amanda Mason, Indiana, Damien and Daphne Davis, Skylar Japinoski, and Samantha, Drew and Josephine Brubacher. She is also survived by a brother, Joe Henry and three sisters, Barbara, Mary and Katie and was preceded in death by a brother, Andy. She will be dearly missed.

A viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Route 8 and Victory Chapel Road, Dover. Service will be 10 am Friday, May 24 at the church. Burial will be private.

Mitchell, Joan L.

Joan L. Mitchell passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. She was 71.

Joan was born on August 19, 1941 in Hinton, WV, daughter of the late Robert and Edna (Bennett) Robinson.

She worked as a seamstress and as a cashier at the Milford WalMart.

Joan enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, watching Jeff Gordon and house plants.

She is survived by four children Richard Shockley, Nathaniel Shockley and Jeffery Shockley all of Magnolia and Kelly Degano-Wasylkowski of Dover, six siblings, 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, May 24 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will follow at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the funeral home to help with expenses.
