Joseph V. Gallagher

Age 83 of Wilmington died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 in the St. Francis Hospital.

Mr. Gallagher retired from the Wilmington Club in 1991 after 35 years of service. He served in the Air Corp during World War II and the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia M. Gallagher, who died in 1978. He is survived by his daughter, Judith Gallagher Myers and her husband Aubrey R. Myers of Hockessin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd. on Monday morning, January 28, 2002 at 10am. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek on Sunday evening from 6-8 pm.

Lorena B. Laing

Lorena B. Laing, age 78 of Wilmington, DE died on Saturday, December 13, 2003 at home.

Mrs. Laing worked in the Treasury Department in Washington for many years. She was a volunteer for many functions at St. Anthony's Church and the Cathedral of St Peter. She enjoyed traveling and writing poetry.

She is survived by her children, John C. Laing of Hughson, CA, Laura B. Coxe of Wilmington, DE, Bridgette Snyder of Bear, DE, Leon O. Laing of Wilmington, DE, Fred A. Laing of Newport, DE, Evelyn Polson of FL and Alice F. Griffith of Newport, DE; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, John S. Laing in 1991; and her son Vernon Laing in 1963.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday evening, December 19, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue., from 6 - 7 pm with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Loudon County, VA.

Gage, Naomi

Naomi Gage of Smyrna died Monday January 13, 2003 at Kent General Hospital. She was 72.

Mrs. Gage was born April 11, 1930 in Woodbury, New Jersey to the late Walter Etherington and Elsie May Ward Etherington.

Mrs. Gage had worked for Smyrna Animal Hospital for 4 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Smyrna. She was a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover and volunteered for the meals on wheels program. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and many others. Mrs. Gage also enjoyed singing in the glee club at the Modern Maturity Center.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by 2 sisters Elsie Thielman and Flora Keene and a brother, William Etheringston of Harrington.

Mrs. Gage is survived by her husband of 52 years, George Gage.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2pm, Sunday, January 19, 2003 in The Seventh Day Adventist Church, 647 Wyoming Avenue, Dover. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to either the Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Avenue, Dover, DE 19904 or The Seventh Day Adventist Church, 647 Wyoming Avenue, Dover, DE 19904.

Maciejewski, Dorothy F.

Dorothy Maciejewski aged 75 years journeyed peacefully to the Lord on Monday, September 6th, 2004 surrounded by her family at Christiana Hospital. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 35 years, Charles Maciejewski, and her parents, Peter and Mary Sadowski.

She is survived by her children, Susan Poeta and husband Raymond of Newark, Gary Maciejewski, and Edward Maciejewski and wife, Monica of New Castle. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Candace Corbett, Kristen Corbett, Kaitlynn Maciejewski and Justin Poeta. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters-in-law Peter and Marie Sadowski, Colorado, Francis and Pat Sadowski, Wilmington, and William and Carol Sadowski, Wilmington. Also sister-in-law of Edward and Eleanor Mack, of Florida, Irene and Joseph Hojniki of Minquadale, Helen Mack. She also had many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 AM on Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear where visitation will be held after 11:30 AM at the church. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE 19701.

Gaglione, Anthony

Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Anthony Gaglione, 78

GREENWOOD - Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Anthony Gaglione of Greenwood died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 78.

Mr. Gaglione was born in Cleveland, son of the late Charles and Marianna Gaglione.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant in 1976. He started his military career in the U.S. Navy on April 25, 1946. After serving two years, he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves for about a year, before rejoining the U.S. Navy in 1951. After another two years, he again joined the reserves for two years, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Jan. 14, 1957. From that point on, he served in the Air Force for over 19 years, until his retirement. His vast military career included serving in World War II, the Korean War, as well as Vietnam. He received numerous awards and medals throughout his career.

In his spare time, he enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and bringing them donuts. He was a regular member of the Donut Connection "coffee club, " where he often times went for his morning coffee and donuts. In his younger years, Mr. Gaglione spent countless hours as a sports official. He was a football and basketball official and served as a baseball umpire for the little league.

Mr. Gaglione was a member of the Blue Hen Post 6483 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Milford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ricelli and Rose Marie Lloyd.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Elaine Gaglione; a son, Mark A. Gaglione of Milford; a daughter, Michelle B. Johnson of Hartly; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.

Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South Dupont Hwy., Harrington.

Robert Falkowski

Age 54, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 2, 2010 surrounded by his family.

Born in Wilmington, Robert was the son of Irene (Szperka) Falkowski and the late Eugene J. Falkowski. He attended St. Hedwig Grade School and graduated from St. Elizabeth High School. He also earned his associated degree from Delaware Technical and Community College. He worked as a service technician for Xerox for over 30 years.

Robert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donna (Mezzatesta) Falkowski; his mother, Irene Falkowski of Wilmington; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Beverly of Newark and Richard and Donna of Bear; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 7th at 11 AM at St. Hedwig's Church, Linden and Harrison Streets, Wilmington where friends are invited to visitation after 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Gale, Walter T.

Walter T. Gale, 87, died on Tuesday November 18 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He is survived by his closest friend, Margaret S. Hurd, and her extended family of Clayton, where he had resided for over 40 years.

He was born in Millington, Md., the son of the late Hurlock and Ella Faulkner Gale. Mr. Gale was an Army veteran of World War II, and was the recipient of two Purple Heart Awards. He served in the 100th Division in France and lost his right leg due to injuries sustained in combat on November 11, 1944. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Gale had been formerly employed by the federal government and worked at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds.

In addition to his close friend, he is survived by a son, Thomas Gale; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Richard Hudson; a daughter-in-law, Jane Covey; three grandchildren, Thomas Gale and his wife Christina; Deborah Bethel and her husband Steve; and Michael Gale and his wife Wendy; a step-granddaughter and her husband, Kerry and Mark Blevins; and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Gale.

Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday November 22 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, De., where friends may call at 11:30 AM. Interment will be in Galena Cemetery, Galena, Md.

If desired, contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice Inc., 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, De. 19901; or to the Salvation Army, PO Box 123, Dover, De. 19903.

Arrangements were by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.
