M. Lucille West

Age 84, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 surrounded by her family.

Born in Churchill, MD, Lucille was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Margaret (Whitby) Davis. She was a graduate of Goldey Beacom College and worked at the DuPont Company as a secretary for a short time. She worked for the Christiana School District as a bus driver for the district's special education children until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Holy Family Church and a former member of Holy Angels Church and Altar Society. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. West in 2009.

She is survived by her daughters, Margie West-Bristow of Newark, Debbie Hopkins and her husband, Tim of Newark, DE; her sons and their wives, Charles T. and Lori West of Elkton, MD and Michael F. and Kristen of Newark, DE and her beloved grandchildren of whom she received great joy, Ryan Bristow, Timothy Hopkins, Jr., Amy Hopkins and Brady Michael West.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 27th at 11 AM at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Drive, Newark. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Road, Wilmington. Interment will follow Mass on Monday at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.

Teresa L. Everett

Age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010.

Born in Buchanan, VA, Teresa was the daughter of Effie (Keffer) Russell and the late Charles Ruley. She previously worked as an Administrative Assistant for the International Reading Association in Newark for over 10 years. She was an accomplished artist.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by two brothers, Douglas and Charles "Butch" Ruley. She will be missed by her mother and stepfather, Effie and Gary Russell of Longs, SC; her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Cureton of Panama City Beach, FL; her son, Craig Everett of Elkton, MD; and her brother, Richard Ruley of Baltimore, MD.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.

Helen D. Dillon

Age 103, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.

Born in Wilmington, Mrs. Dillon was the daughter of the late Aloyzy and Frances (Lesczcinski) Cieplowski. She worked at the Hotel DuPont as the "Salad Lady" until her retirement in 1969. She was the oldest parishioner of St. Elizabeth's Parish and the last surviving sibling of her family. She was predeceased by her husband, William V. Dillon, II; her sons, William V. Dillon III and Edmond Dillon; and her daughters, Mary M. Dillon and Nellie Grimes.

The matriarch of her family, she will be dearly missed by her sons, Joseph F. Dillon and his wife Gayle of Wilmington and John Dillon of Miami, FL; her daughter Agnes Noble and her husband, James of New Castle; 24 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30th at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.

Angelo A. Malgiri

Age 92, of Hockessin DE, passed away on February 19, 2010 at Windsor Place.

Mr. Malgiri was born in Wilmington, DE on May 28, 1917, son of the late Antonio and Mary Malgiri. He retired from M&M; Distributing Company, where he was a shipping and receiving manager. Angelo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a strong, loving and devoted family man.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Eoppolo) Malgiri; his daughter, Nancy Ann; his brothers, Rocco, Vito, Carmen and Joseph and his sisters, Louise, Rose and Juliet. Angelo is survived by his daughters, Diane Farmer and Janice Rhoades and her husband, Thomas; four grandsons and five great- grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Charles Hill, Season Hospice and Windsor Place, especially his caregiver, Margarita, for the support and care they provided.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 1st, in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707 at 10:30 am, where a visitation with family and friends will begin at 10 am. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Dr., Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.

Patricia Ann (Padovani) Hendrick

"Patty"

Age 52, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 14, 2010 surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, Patty was the daughter of Alice (Matuszewski) Padovani and the late Anthony R. Padovani, Sr. She worked as a meter reader for Delmarva Power.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Bruce Scott Hendrick; her son and daughter-in-law, Jason Paul and Chrissy Rutkowski of Wilmington, DE; her daughter and son-in-law, Angela C. and Frank Radel of Bear, DE; two stepdaughters and their spouses, JoDe and Matt Beitler of Prospect Park, PA and Jill and Marcus Villacco of Jackson Heights, NJ; and five grandchildren, Marissa, Jason, Aubree, Taylor and Zane. Also surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Steve Baker; her brother and sister-in-law, Anthony R. and Maria Padovani, Jr.; her father-in-law, Leon Hendrick; her sister-in-law, Sandy Hendrick and her husband, Jon Savacoll; two brothers-in-law, Lance Hendrick and his wife, Janice, and Brian Hendrick and his wife, Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 19th at 11 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where friends and family are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or to PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.

Bilik, Martha

Martha Bilik, of Cokesbury Village, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of 91 on Tuesday June 8, 2010. Martha was born in Philadelphia on February 22, 1919.

Martha was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She loved to organize family gatherings, go to Bethany Beach, garden and was a talented seamstress. She had the ability to look at a fashion design and create an exact duplicate. Her career as a professional seamstress spanned 20 years. In her retirement she dedicated herself to her family and sharing quality time with them.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, of 62 loving years, who died in 2005. She is survived by her daughters Dorothy Jennings and her husband Bill, Marlene Steiner and her husband Paul, 5 grandchildren, Brian Jennings, Dave Jennings, Thomas Gagnon, Elaine Ambra and Susan Huffman, and 8 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 11, at 11:00 am, at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church at Cedar and Clayton St., where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood Highway.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Martha's memory to St. Elizabeth R.C. Church, 809 S. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19805.

Rose Marie Becker

Age 80, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, Mrs. Becker was the daughter of the late Carmen and Joanna (Viscount) Poppiti. She graduated from Brown Vocational School and worked as a cashier for Skyline Junior High School. Later, she was employed by Bank of Delaware, working in collections and repossessions for over 11 years until her retirement in 1984. Her memberships included St. Matthew's Church, the BVM Sodality, and Oak Grove Senior Center. She enjoyed playing bingo at St. Matthew's and Oak Grove Senior Center. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leonard J. Becker in 1967; her son-in-law, George Green; her brothers, James, Felix and Michael Poppiti; and her sisters, Helen Marinelli and Gladys DeFlaviis.

Mrs. Becker will be dearly missed by her daughters, Mary Ellen Green of New Castle, DE and Barbara Ann Graham and her husband, Bobby, of Wilmington, DE; her sons, Leonard J., Jr. and his wife, Jamie of Wilmington, NC and Joseph A. and his wife, Marie Elena of Quakertown, PA; nine grandchildren, George, Julie, Mischelle, Robert, Jim, Jessica, Joseph, Eric and Angelina; and four great grandchildren, Mason, Leea, Michael and Graham. Also surviving are two sisters, Carrie Agostini and Grace Blome.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Thursday, November 18th between 6 and 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew's Church, 901 East Newport Pike, Woodcrest. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Matthew BVM Sodality, 1013 West Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804.

Theresa M. Zeigler

Age 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Compassionate Care Hospice on Thursday, January 6, 2011.

Born in Ashington, England, Theresa was the daughter of the late Peter John and Rose Ina (Brady) Hughes. She was a graduate of the Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and worked as a registered nurse for an area doctor's office. Her husband, John M. Zeigler, predeceased her in 2009.

She is survived by her sons, John M. Zeigler, Jr. and Peter H. Zeigler; her daughter, Kathy Lindemere and her husband, David; and her beloved grandchildren, Christina and Matthew.

Funeral services will be private.

Cathy Denise O'Neill

(Sloniewski)

Age 48, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on July 17, 2010 from Pancreatic Cancer. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Catherine Sloniewski.

Cathy was a member of St. Elizabeth's Parish, volunteering her time, with friends, to introduce and make hundreds of pierogies for Polish Night at the parishes Spring Festival.

An athlete, Cathy played slow pitch softball and adult basketball for many years. She was a volunteer coach, for many years, in the CYO Leagues, coaching basketball, softball and volleyball at St. Elizabeth's, St. Hedwig's, St. Anthony's and St. Catherine's. She also coached in the Midway Girls Softball League. Cathy was known quite well as a "teacher" of the game and touched the lives of hundreds of young players.

Cathy was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Also, attending college football games at Delaware, Penn State and Notre Dame with family and friends to cheer her teams on and to tailgate. She loved road trips to her kid's sports games, Pat's Steaks, The Italian Market, Nicola Pizza and the beach.

Cathy most recently worked for New Castle Insurance as an administrative assistant, a job she really enjoyed. She was previously employed by Follett, Wilmington Police and Fire Credit Union, Chase Manhattan Bank and Avon.

As a mother, Cathy's pride and joy and greatest accomplishment in life are her two children, her daughter Morgan and her son Nolan.

Cathy is survived by her kids and her husband of 17 years, Kevin. She is survived by her sister Yvonne Gregg (Bill), and brothers Gene (Debbie), Bob (Janice), Tom (Joyce), Joe (Donna) and John. Mother-in-law Maryanne, father-in-law Bill, brothers-in-law Brian and Sean (Jolene) and sister-in-law Megan. She is survived by 16 nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the personnel at the Helen Graham Center. To all of the nurses on the 6th Floor at the Christiana Hospital a "Thank You" just doesn't seem enough for the care that you all gave Cathy. Appreciation to Heartland Hospice for making Cathy comfortable during her courageous battle and the courtesy that you extended to family and friends. Also to thank is her wonderful employer New Castle Insurance and their thoughtful employees, as well as Kevin's employer Salesianum School. Cathy's friends are phenomenal, second to none, who stood by her and the family during her illness. From cleaning, to transportation, to meals, to companionship and support, we are truly blessed to have you all in our time of need. Your help, your compassion, your friendship and your loyalty will forever be imbedded in our hearts. You all are "Our Family".

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 21st at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

Due to the extreme heat of recent weeks, the family is requesting that people paying respects dress in comfortable attire.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Cathy can be made to the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, 101 Rockland Circle, Wilmington, DE 19803.
