Kook, Stephanie Barbara

Stephanie B. Kook went to join her Heavenly Father on March 26, 2010, after three year battle against the blood cancer multiple myeloma.

Steph was born in Wilmington on July 8th, 1961, to the late Bohdan and Vera Harwanko and loved being a Delawarean. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High and from UD with bachelor's degree in Ornamental Horticulture, and spent her working years at Winterthur Museum and Longwood Gardens. Steph also was an independent business woman, first owning Quickhelp and then co-owner of Garden Design Group. She also looked forward to her yearly participation at the Philadelphia Flower Show and Wilmington Flower Market.

Steph's life did not truly begin until she met Karl, her husband, best friend and soulmate, and they started their family. She knew that she was "the luckiest mom in the whole world" because she was blessed with her angels, Caroline and Veronica, who were her greatest pride and joy. Being a full-time mom was her favorite job.

Her happiest times were spent with her family, watching her girls in all their activities, going to UD women's basketball and volleyball games, working in her garden, and playing with her cats, Bubbles and Blossom.

Steph was blessed with an incredible family. Her brother JB gave her not only his stem cells but was her hero in life. He and his family were the rock - Linda, and Jeffery & Jenna, and godmother to Stephen & Angela.

Steph also felt blessed to be a "Kook", especially on holidays! She treasured her extended family, her father- and mother-in-law, John and Janet Kook, and her grandmother-in-law, Estelle Kook, and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Allen & Tami, Michele, Ruthann & Luis Maisonet, Rosemary & Rob Kelly, David & Jackie, and Douglas & Emily, She was also proud aunt to Alex Maisonet, Caitlyn and Craig Kook, Sammy Kelly, and aunt and godmother of Jonny Kook. She was also blessed to have her best friend (after Karl) and almost-sister Patricia "Aunt Patti" Pleva, her mother Marion Pleva and James Smith.

She will join her grandparents and parents in heaven, along with her grandfather-in-law, John Kook.
