Pacy, O.B.E., David G.

David G. Pacy, O.B.E., of Smyrna, DE, died at home on Wednesday, January 5, 2011.

He was 86.

Mr. Pacy was born on October 9, 1924 in London, England to the late William G. and Elsie M. Pacy.

He joined the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and later received pilot flight training from the US Navy. He went on to proudly serve the Royal Navy as a fighter pilot.

Mr. Pacy was an Electronic Engineer who retired from Ferranti Electric as the President of their North American Division.

He enjoyed traveling throughout the world and his hobbies included furniture woodworking and building various electronic gadgets.

He is survived by his wife, Elfie Preiss of Smyrna, DE; and a sister, Jean Smith of North Harrow, England and her family.

Services will be private.

Johnson, Ruth Ann

Ruth Ann Johnson died on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in Smyrna, DE.

Private burial and services will be handled at the convienence of the family.

Woodley, Georgia Lee

Georgia Lee Woodley of Smyrna, DE died on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.

She was 88.

Mrs. Woodley was born June 13, 1922 in Smyrna, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Slaughter.

Georgia was raised in Woodlawn Farm in Smyrna, which is now the Thomas England House. She was one of seven children in the Slaughter family.

She attended John Bassett Moore High School in Smyrna and graduated in 1943. She worked as Nurse for the State Welfare Home in Smyrna for 35 years and retired in 1991.

In 1947, Georgia married Charles F. Woodley from Little Creek, DE and together they had two children, Charles and Jean Ann Woodley.

In 1956, they moved to Smyrna across the road from the farmhouse that they sold to buy their home. Georgia attended the First Presbyterian Church on Commerce Street in Smyrna, where she taught Sunday school for 12 years. Both of Georgia's children graduated from John Bassett Moore High School.

Her husband, Charles Woodley worked for Suburban Propane Gas Company for 31 years and retired in 1983. Both Charles and Georgia enjoyed traveling by ship and bus after their retirements.

Georgia Lee was a friendly and caring person all her life. She enjoyed helping her sister Mary Ennis, whom was sick for 10 years, eight of which she was bed ridden. She also took care of her brother-in-law, Dick Ennis until they both passed away. Georgia Lee loved meeting people and helping care for sick people all her life.

She started getting sick over the years and needed help.

Her son, Charles Woodley, III, moved from Dover to Smyrna to take care of her and his dad for eight years.

She will be dearly missed a lot now that she has gone to heaven.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 11am in the Faries Funeral Chapel located on 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, DE, where friends may call at 10 am.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.

ROBERT LEE MOORE, SR.

Robert Lee Moore, Sr., 69, of Smyrna, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover, DE.

Born on July 27, 1941, he was the son of the late Presley E. Moore, Sr. and Margaret Carrow Moore.

After attending school in Smyrna, Bobby joined the Delaware National Guard. On November 25, 1961, he married his childhood sweetheart Jacqueline King Roe. He was a career farmer, first starting out with dairy cows with his father and brothers, and then moving on to grain farming with his son. Bobby owned and operated Moore's Picking House, picking ducks and geese for the last 35 years. He enjoyed crabbing and hunting with his son and grandson, and especially loved his hunting trips to Pennsylvania and Canada. He loved a great card game in the morning with his friends, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by his son, Keith Douglas Moore in 1986, and later his sister Ruthann Burchard.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jacqueline R. Moore; his son Robert L. Moore, Jr. and his wife Amy; grandchildren Robert Douglas Moore and Kristen Elizabeth Moore; his brothers Presley E. Moore, Jr. and his wife Beronica, and William H. Moore; and sister Patricia Stachecki and her husband Raymond, all of Smyrna, DE. He is also survived by his brother-in-law W. Michael Roe of Morriston, FL; several nieces and nephews, and many close and dear friends, especially Salty Walt and Sam, his "little buddy".

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in Faries Funeral Home, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE from 11 a.m.- 12 noon, followed by a service in celebration of Bobby's life at 12 noon. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna, DE.

Carter, Virginia L. "Susie"

Virginia L. "Susie" Carter of Hartly, DE passed away at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE on Friday October 29, 2010.

She was 55.

Mrs. Carter was born July 23, 1955 in Dover, DE the daughter of William F. Carter and Dorothy R. O'Hearon Carter of Smyrna.

She worked for many years as an Equipment Operator for DELDOT.

Susie enjoyed crabbing and fishing with her dad, playing poker and shooting pool. She loved being around her family and friends and loved her nieces and nephews like her own. At every family gathering she made it special for everyone. Spending time with her was like a being on a new adventure.

Susie belonged to the Smyrna-Clayton Moose Lodge.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nan and William Carter; maternal grandparents, Bessie Parsons and Malgrom O'Hearon; an uncle, Wayne Cater; and a niece, Savannah Knowles.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Edie Whitebread and her husband Larry of Harrington, DE, and Robin Knowles and her husband Robert of Smyrna; three brothers, Billy Carter, Jr. and his girlfriend Dianne Jarrel of Hartly, Wayne Carter of Philadelphia, PA, and Mark Carter of Smyrna; her long time companion, Connie Cole of Bowers beach, DE; Amber Dorrell and Veronica Dorrell, whom she helped raise and took on as her own; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday November 3, 2010 at 11am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, DE, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery Smyrna, DE.

IRMA S. TIMMONS

12/20/25 - 12/30/10

Irma S. Timmons, beloved daughter, wife and mother, passed away at home on December 30, 2010, surrounded by family. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Frank and Gretchen Wainwright Savage, 4 brothers: James, Archie Frank Jr. "Reds", Ormil "Doc", and Edward Savage, 4 sisters; Viola Clark, Hilda Marvel, Myrtle Hitchens and Virginia Lockmiller.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Harry W. Timmons, their daughter Deborah Grace Lowry, both of Ocean View, and their son Stephen H. Timmons and wife Mary Jo of Dagsboro.

Irma is also survived by 3 grandsons; Jason Kiminsu Lowry, Clayton Aaron Lowry, and Jonathan Bentley Lowry; 2 grand-daughters in-law Michele Lowry and Caroline Lowry; 2 great grandchildren; Alexandra and Carter Lowry, and in-laws Mary Savage of Dagsboro, Elwood Marvel of Ocean View, James and Betty Timmons of Millville, all of whom were close friends.

She is also survived by many life-long loving friends, nephews and nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

She was owner and operator of Irma's Draperies for many years and her custom draperies adorn many homes in the area. She enjoyed flowers, animals, cooking, gardening, fishing, crabbing, clamming, playing cards and traveling, but her greatest love was her family. She looked forward to the huge family reunions which regularly brought the extended family together and she frequently cooked for large groups of family and friends at her home.

Services will be Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Ocean View Presbyterian Church, where friends may call 1 hour prior. Reverend Kerry Schull will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery with a meal afterward in the Church Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way Milford, De 19963.
