Mitchell, Clara Emily

Clara Emily Mitchell, "Emily" as everyone knew her, age 100, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2011 surrounded by her family. Born in Philadelphia on February 8, 1910, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Caroline Clark Cowan. She was a member of Hickory Hill United Methodist Church, and a member of the UMC Women. She was a lovely independent woman, who mowed her own grass till she was 88 with a push mower, and cleaned and maintained her own home till she was 93. She enjoyed traveling, watching TV and it was noted at her 100th Birthday Party that she was one of the last people alive who could recall living through the Great Influenza of 1918, and could recall numerous parades and gatherings in Philadelphia with Civil War Veterans. She loved, and was devoted to her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband: Delbert B. Mitchell in 1963; she was also preceded by two sons, Jerry Lee and Kermit Ellis Mitchell; and a daughter-in-law, Lavessa Mitchell. She is survived by her sons: Burton Mitchell, of Salisbury, MD and Daniel Mitchell, and his wife, Kay, of Dagsboro, DE and a daughter, Emily Draper, and her husband, Steve, of Milford, DE. She has 9 Grand-children, 12 Great-grand-children and 3 Great-Great-grand-children. A very special thanks is extended to Emily's dear friend, and caretaker, Mary Tracy, who cared for her in her waning years. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE where friends may call one hour prior for visitation. The Rev. Betty Jo Megee will officiate. Interment follows at Millsboro Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to Hickory Hill Church C/O; Roy Rogers, Treasurer; 28209 Walt Carmean Lane; Millsboro, DE 19966.

Warner, Fannie J

Fannie J. Warner age 77. of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on November 3, 2010 at home. Fannie retired from Townsend's after 22 years of service. Her son Winfred L. Warner of Millsboro, Delaware, survives her. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 2:00 PM at New Holy Trinity Church, 29507 1st Street, Millsboro, Delaware. Interment will be private.

Hall, Joyce Ann

Joyce Ann Hall age 73, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on December 29, 2010 at the Renaissance Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro, Delaware. Joyce was an out going person, who loved the beach, crafts and shopping. She was very family oriented. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; Raymond E. & Esther McCabe, and a brother, Robert McCabe who passed away in 1986. She is survived by her son, Randall Givens and wife Rebecca of New Market, Md, 3 daughters, Marilyn Rhan of Lebanon, Pa. Terry Newton and husband Charles, of Louisa, Va, Peggy Hernandez of Chula Vista Ca. on sister Jean Adams of Georgetown, De, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends across the county. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Washington Street Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hr. prior. Interment will be in Dagsboro Redman's Cemetery Dagsboro, Delaware. Rev. Robert Hudson will officiate. Thornberg, Diana Brin

Diana Brin Thornberg, age 25, of Lincoln, Delaware passed away on November 22, 2010. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 1:30 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware, friends and family may call from 1 - 1:30. Interment will be private.

McCabe, Emma Ruth Radish

Mrs. Emma Ruth Radish McCabe, "Emma, " age 89, of Millsboro, DE . passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010.

She was surrounded by her family.

Born in Millsboro, DE on Feb. 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Sarah Ruth Baker Radish.

She co-owned and co-operated chicken growing and farming operations with her late husband, Oscar W. McCabe, Sr., who passed in 1998.

She was a member of Hickory Hill United Methodist Church, Past President of the U.M.W. at the Church, and was a pianist for the Church.

She also served as head librarian for the Millsboro Public Library.

The great loves of her life were farming with her husband, gardening and caring for her cats and dogs.

She was also preceded by her son, Oscar W. McCabe, Jr. in 1999.

She is survived by her nephew and niece who were also her Caregivers, Roy and Marie Rogers.

She is also survived by one brother, Raymond Vincent Radish, Sr. and his wife Trudy, and her aunt, Myrtle McCabe.

Also, two grand-daughters: Ashley McCabe Monroe, and her husband Paul; and Elise McCabe. Nieces: Janice and Ruth; Nephews Mike, Bob, and Vincent.

She also is survived by her friend and special foreign exchange student, Dr. Rod Guzman and all of her dedicated caregivers.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE. 19966.

Friends and Family may call from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM.

The Rev.Betty Jo Magee will officiate.

Interment will be in Line Cemetery, Whitesville, DE.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hickory Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Roy Rogers, Treasurer 28209; Walt Carmean Lane; Millsboro, DE 19966

Jackson, Russell Edward

Russell Edward Jackson age 72, of Laurel, Delaware passed away on October 31, 2010 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. Russell had been a poultry grower for Allen's Family Foods. He enjoyed shooting pool, NASCAR, carpentry, and making things. His biggest hobbies and interest were his wife and children. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Garland and Florence Jones Jackson. He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Jackson, 5 children; Darlene Burns & husband Lawrence of Baltimore, Maryland, Linda Whitelock of Mardella Springs Maryland, Michael Russell Jackson and wife Lisa of Seaford, Delaware Barbara Ann Wooten and husband Billy of Dagsboro, Delaware, June Shirley Jackson and companion Larry Samuelson of Laurel Delaware. One sister Margaret Smith of Powellville, Maryland 9 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren and his beloved feline friend Blue Girl, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends also survive him. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Washington Street Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hour prior. Rev. Smith, Linda

Linda Lawson Smith age 44, of Frankford, Delaware passed away on January 5, 2011 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. Linda is survived by her husband, Robert Smith Jr., her children, Jennifer C. Shufelt, Amanda A. Schwartz and husband, Brian, Joseph E. Lawson and Donnelle. Her Step Son Robert T.C. Blake, her parents, William Joseph and Phyllis Ann Wilkerson Lawson, Sister Carol Lazartic her grandchildren, Skyler M. Schwartz and Joseph Lawson, Maleah Kalise Mitchell, her Aunts Debbie, and Hope and Uncles, John, and Kenny, Mother & Father in Law, Robert and Elizabeth Smith, and brother and sister in law, Eugene and Michelle Smith along with a host of extended friends and family.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street Millsboro, Delaware from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. A Committal Service will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware at 11:00 AM. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home Millsboro, Delaware.

Holston, Harry E.

Harry E. Holston age 89 of Georgetown, DE passed away on January 6, 2011, at Life Care at Lofland Park. Harry was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. Harry was a Grain and Chicken Farmer for over 55 years; he also was an avid horse lover, and was a member of the Laurel Saddle Friends Riding Club. You could always find him at a sale, and if anything was going on, he was involved. He was truly an out going person who lived life to its fullest. His parents, Frank and Martha LeCates Holston, and his loving wife of 51 years, E. Catherine Hall Holston, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters precede Harry in death. He is survived by his children; Doris Veasey and husband Ralph, Dale H Holston and wife Diane, all of Georgetown, and Paul E. Holston and wife Diane of Gumboro; 5 grandsons; Scott and Mark Veasey, Steve, David, and Daniel Holston, and 8 great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, friend, and extended family also survive him. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Hudson, Irene Marie

Irene Marie Hudson of Georgetown, Delaware passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010. She was 77.

Mrs. Hudson was born of January 2, 1933 to the late Johnsie and Nina Baker Carmean.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Virgil Hudson in 2000, and 3 brothers, Preston, Leon and Dennis Carmean.

Mrs. Hudson attended Grace United Methodist Church in Georgetown. She was a legal secretary for the Dean Betts law office for 20 years. She was an avid bowler, sports fan, and member of the Twinkle Club. She was active in the Jaycee's with her husband.

Mrs. Hudson loved puzzles, reading, plants and flowers. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by 4 Children:Rita Jackson of Lewes, De, Kim Hudson and his wife Tammy of Millsboro, De., Lisa Briggs and her husband Lewis Briggs, II, of Georgetown, and Kara Stoeckel and her husband Kevin of Georgetown. 10 Grandchildren: Brittany Jackson, Evan Jackson, Jessica Hudson, Jeni Hudson, Jill Guerrazzi, Michelle Simpson, Lewis Briggs, III, Michael Briggs, and Jeremy and Brooke Stoeckel. 9 Great Grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 1:00 P.M., December 11, 2010 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, where friends may call one hour prior. Friends may also call on Friday, December 10, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Pastor Mike McGee will officiate. Interment will follow at Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware.

Brittingham, Anna Mae

Mrs. Anna Mae Brittingham, of Georgetown, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. She was 85.

Mrs. Brittingham was born on April 13, 1925 to the late Asher B. Carey, Sr. and Valeria Mae Evans Carey.

She was Co-Owner and the Bookkeeper for Brittingham Associates and Sussex Suites LLC.

Mrs. Brittingham was known for her beautiful Crochet, afghans and other handiwork. She was devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her son and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ira B. Brittingham, Sr. in 1994, and brothers, Asher Jr. and Jim Carey.

She is survived by one son, Ira B. Brittingham, Jr. and his wife Monica, two grandchildren, Matthew Brittingham and his wife Lori, and Shawn Brittingham and his wife Missy, four great grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, Olivia, and Anthony. She is also survived by many friends and extended family across the region.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior. Friends may also call on Friday, November 5, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Chaplain Virgil Stewart n will officiate. Interment will follow at Roxana Cemetery, Roxana, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or to a charity your choice. Arrangements by, Watson Funeral Home Millsboro, Delaware.
