Dubinski, Edward Dub

Edward "Dub" Donald Dubinski of Laurel, Delaware passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at his home after a long illness.

He was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on September 10, 1933, the son of John Edward and Bertha Hunt Dubinski.

Ed retired from the Dupont Company in Seaford, Delaware in 1992 after 35 years of service. He was a devoted family man, an avid golfer, and a competitive bowler. He had an unwavering faith in God and was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel where he taught the sixth grade Sunday School Class for twelve years and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a member of the American Legion Post #19, the Laurel Alumni Association, and the Odd Fellows.

Mr. Dubinski dedicated much of his life to the children of Laurel, serving as a Cub Master, a Little League coach, and the founding advisor for the Junior Achievement Program in Laurel in the 1980s.

Ed's parents both died while he was a teenager, and he was raised by his sister, Eleanor Frank, of Oshkosh. After graduation from Oshkosh High School, he enlisted in the U.S.Navy. While stationed in Chincoteague, Virginia he met his wife of the past 55 years, Norma Charlene Wootten.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlene. They have three children, Dawn and her husband, Michael S. Cherrix, Donald and his wife, Maryrose Dubinski, and Lori Grady. They also have nine grandchildren, Frank and his wife Alison Dubinski, Patrick Dubinski, Jacob Dubinski, Bridget Grady, Erin Grady, Megan Grady, Brendan Grady, Michael D. Cherrix, and Haley Cherrix. Their first great-grandchild, Leah Rose Dubinski, was just born on June 26, 2010.

Mr. Dubinski is also survived by his sister, Eleanor Frank, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, one brother-in-law, Edwin Roland of Tavares, Florida and Valders, Wisconsin, and two sisters-in-law, Margaret and Joan Dubinski, both of Oshkosh. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was predeceased by his parents and eight siblings, brothers Harold, Leonard, Robert, Norbert, and John Dubinski (all from Oshkosh) and sisters Dorothy Maurer (from Chicago), Lorraine Thompson (from Kaukauna, WI), and Lila Roland (from Tavares, FL and Valders, WI).

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel. A viewing will precede the service from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in his memory be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 West Market Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956, Laurel Alumni Association, P.O.Box 382, Laurel, Delaware 19956, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963.

Stump, Bobby W

Bobby Wayne Stump, age 60, of Laurel, Delaware passed away at his home on July 1, 2010.

He was born in Roanoke, VA. a son of the late William and Elizabeth Jeanette Stump.

He had a long and successful career as a truck driver.

His wife of 28 years Margaret Stump survives him. Along with numerous friends and extended family.

All services will be private.

Moore, Jr., Andrew

Andrew Moore, Jr. age 89, of Bethel, Delaware passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 22, 2010.

Andrew was born in Delmar, Maryland on April 11, 1921 to Andrew and Julia Moore.

He married Mary Hastings in 1941, they were married for 68 years.

Mr. Moore worked at O.A. Newton and Son for over 40 years before retiring and then raising chickens at his home. He was an avid gardener and loved fishing. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II and was awarded the Sliver Star for gallantry in action in the vicinity of Gilsdorf, Germany.

Mr. Moore is preceded in death by his parents and two bothers and two sisters. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, three daughters, Barbara Sylvia and husband Fred of Seaford, Andrea Simone and husband Anthony of Wilmington and Cindy Lane Moore of Trenton, New Jersey. A son G. Dale Moore and wife Donna of Marianna, Florida. Three brothers, Carroll Moore of Georgetown, Jim Moore of Florida and Randall Moore of Washington. Four sisters, Sarah Foxwell of Harrington, Mary Beauchamp of Greenwood, Joyce Pettit of Harrington and Elaine Anderson of Georgetown.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home 700 West St. Laurel, DE 19956 on Monday July 26, 2010 at 2:00 pm, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Art Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Bridgeville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Andrew's memory to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way Milford, Delaware 19963 or Sussex SPCA 22918 DuPont Hwy Georgetown, DE 29947.

Chippie Sr., Edward T.

Navy

Edward T. Chippie Sr., of Smyrna, passed away at home with his family on Friday October 29, 2010. He was 84.

He was born at Buck Mountain, PA, the son of the late Michael and Anna Washko Chippi.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and had a long career in the civil service. He was a graduate of the McCann School of Business, Hazelton, PA.

Mr. Chippie retired in 1981 form Dover Air Force Base where he was Supervisor of the Material Section of Accounting and Finance, Base Supply.

He was an active member of St. Polycarp Parish, Smyrna, where he served 28 years as a Minister of the Eucharist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and John.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Dvorscak Chippie; three children, Maryanne (John) Trexler, of West Chester, PA; Edward Jr. (Kelly), of Townsend; and Suzanne (Paul) Craven, of Newark; three grandchildren, Naomi, Andrew, and Rebecca Trexler, all of West Chester, PA; two sisters, Mary Kirpa; Helen Secunda; and a brother, Joseph, all of Hazelton, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 12:00 PM Tuesday November 2 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10:00 AM in the parish hall. Burial at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, will be privately held.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Polycarp Parish, or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Polycarp Parish - both may be sent to St. Polycarp Parish, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, DE 19977.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.

Johnson Sr., Ricky L.

Ricky L. Johnson Sr., 47, of Clayton, was called home to be with Jesus on August 2, 2010.

He is survived by his wife Kelly and their children Ricky Jr. and Allie. He is also survived by his mother, Emma Jean Johnson, of Smyrna; three sisters, Debbie O'Brien and her husband Matt, of Middletown; Donna Brown and her husband Russell, of Smyrna; and Michelle Johnson, of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul "Toby" Johnson in 2000.

Ricky loved his family, the beach, Nascar, riding his Harley, and cooking. He had fond memories of his years racing at Airport Speedway. He was a talented carpenter who was loved and respected my many. For the past 15 years, he was employed at Printpack Inc., New Castle. He was a wonderful, loving, strong man who will be deeply missed.

Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday August 7 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

If desired, contributions may be sent to Cancer Care, 275 7th Ave., New York, NY 10001.

Carney Jr., Aloysius Joseph

Air Force

Aloysius Joseph Carney Jr. passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was 77.

Aloysius was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 20, 1933; son of the late Aloysius Carney and Bridget Anna Kennedy.

Upon graduation from Northeast Catholic High School for Boys, he entered the Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict from 1952-56 as a radio operator.

Al played sports all through school and into the Air Force. Al was an avid sports fan throughout his life. He coached 7th grade boys basketball at Our Lady of Grace Academy in Keeseville, NY.

Al was active in Alcoholics Anonymous. . He became director of the Clinton County Chapter and was always helping someone get sober.

Al owned and operated Keeseville ceramics in Keeseville, NY for many years. Marie would teach and Al would create; selling their creations to markets in Canada and all over the northeast.

In later years, Al worked as Marketing Manager developing weighing scales, finding markets and vendors to operate in department stores.

After retirement, Al settled in Smyrna, DE where he enjoyed long hours on the computer compiling information on the Carney and Fountain family ancestry for future generations.

Al is survived by the love of his life of 54 years, Marie; and by his four children, Michael and Debra Carney, Stephen Carney, Anne Marie and Michael Pyle, and Brian and Trish Carney; eight grandchildren, Melissa Francis, Mark Hassel, Shannon Carney, Kimberly Carney, Sean Pyle, Colin Pyle, Joseph Carney and Daniel Carney; and four great grandchildren, Alyssa Carney, Brooke Carney, Riley Carney and Brady Francis.

Your stories may have ended, Pops, but will never be forgotten!

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Polycarp Church, Ransom Lane and South St, Smyrna, DE, on Thursday, January 6th at 11 AM where friends may gather in the church hall an hour prior.

Interment with military honors will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901 or via their website at delawarehospice.org.
