John B. Overbay
Age 73, of Airville, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in York, PA.
Born in Beckley, WV, John was the son of the late John and Lola Overbay. He was a graduate of Trappe Hill High School. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He retired from General Motors in 1987 as a supervisor of the paint department. His memberships included the Masons and the U.A.W. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary C. (Bringer) Overbay in 2005, his son, John F. Overbay in 1998, and his sister, Linda Nail.
John will be dearly missed by his daughters, Bernadette Overbay of Newark, DE, Anne M. Reynolds and her husband, Dave, of Elkton, MD, Rose Kauffman and her husband, Tad, of Shrewsbury, PA and Pamela Ellison of Wilmington, DE. He was a grandfather to 13 grandchildren, Rachel, Jennifer, James, Christopher, Mary, Jason, Catherine, Christina, Zachary, Ryan, Quinlan, Alexis and Cheyenne; and 8 great grandchildren, Jaden, Mateo, Skylor, Charisma, Madison, Sophia, Elizabeth and Savannah. Also surviving are three sisters, Yvonne Davis, Sharon Guyer, and Carolyn Pierce.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 13th at 12:30 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington, where friends and family are invited to visitation after 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

Sabbato, Alfred
Alfred . Sabbato, 85, Lucks Dr., Camden/Wyoming, passed away Friday March 23, 2007 at KGH Bay Health Dover.
He was born on November 14, 1921 in Wilmington, DE to the late Filippo and Jenny Giovannina Sabbato.
He was a proud American who served his country in the U S Army during invasion of the battle of the bulge. He was a custodian in the Caesar Rodney School District until he retired in 1984. He loved the Lord, baseball and country music, and was an avid collector do Angels.
He is survived by his Wife of 51 years, Rose Sabbato of Wyoming, DE. Son and his wife, Joseph and Athena Wheatley of Winterford, WV. Son, John Sabbato of Wyoming, DE. Son, Anothy Sabbato of Wyoming, DE. Daughter and her husband, Bonnie Lee and Charles Deery of Wilmington, DE. Anthony W. 'Tony' Salerno
Age 72 of Grendon Farms, died Monday, February 18, 2002 at home.
Mr. Salerno worked for the Delaware Department of Corrections, where he was the deputy warden of Smyrna and then the director of Juvenile Justice at Ferris School. Upon his retirement from Ferris, he pursued a career as an educator. He was a tenured assistant professor in criminal justice at Rowan University and an adjunct professor at the University of Delaware, where he was a graduate, Class of 1955. He received master's degrees from the University of Illinois and Rutgers University. He was a co-author of a forth-coming textbook of the juvenile justice system. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, enjoyed playing cards with friends and going to Delaware Park.
He is survived by his wife, Doris R. Salerno; his son, William D. Salerno of Newark, his daughter, Melissa A. Salerno of Newark; his brother, William T. Salerno and Doris Wong of New York City, NY; sister, Joan Cholodenko and her husband, John of Long Island, NY; and grandsons, Anthony E. and John Anthony 'Skeeter'.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOMES, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek on Thursday morning, February 21 at 10:30, where friends may call after 9:30, with burial in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Sabo, Wanda M.
Wanda M. Sabo, age 41, of Harrington, DE, died peacefully at her home, Tuesday, April 2, 2002. She was born in Mt. Holly, NJ, to the late William Fisher and Evelyn L. Camilli of Scottsdale, Arizona.
Mrs. Sabo was the supervisor of food service at the cafeteria at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hosp., before she was injured on the job. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and camping with her husband and shooting pool.
She is survived by her loving husband William Sabo of Harrington, her mother Evelyn L. Camilli of Scottsdale, Arizona, her brothers William Fisher and wife Susan of Richmond, VA, Jeff Fisher of Voorhees, NJ, Ronnie Fisher of Lincolnton, NC, Kevin Fisher and wife Kim of Lumberton, NJ, and a sister Maryanne 'Sissy' Cox of Pemberton, NJ, and a very good friend Jeanne Zebeley.
Services will be Monday, April 8, 2002, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, at 11:30 AM. A visitation will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. The Reverend Tim Isley will officiate. Internment will take place at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Georgetown, at 1:00 PM. A procession will leave the funeral home about 12:15 PM.
Philomena E. Saienni-Celli
Age 90, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Parkview Nursing Center, Wilmington.
Philomena was a lifelong homemaker. For many years she and her husband, Peter A. Saienna, Sr., owned and operated the family baking business, the Vesuvius Bakery in the Shawtown section of New Castle. She retired from the Colonial School District after many years of service.
Philomena was a lifelong member of St. Peter's the Apostle R. C. Church in New Castle. She was an active member of the Weston Senior Center. She enjoyed baking throughout her life. She loved watching cardinals and had a large collection of cardinal figurines. She was an avid vegetable gardener.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family.
Philomena was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mariana Gotto. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Peter A. Saienni, Sr., who died in 1967; and her husband of 10 years, Abraham Celli, who died in 2004. She is survived by her children, Peter A. Saienni, Jr. of Lewes, Marion E. Green of Wilmington, Michael P. Saienni of Bear, and Sylvia A. Saienni of Hockessin; her brother, Joseph Gotto; her sisters, Ann Jeffrey and Rose Lewalski; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle on Sat. July 30th at 10 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen Funeral Home, 34 West 6th St., New Castle from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. Interment in the Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

Walid Amin Saffouri
Age 68, died peacefully on August 17, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Helen, three sons, Amin, Ramzi and Khaled, two granddaughters, Soraya and Tatiana, his sister Mayy Cross and brother Nadim of Sao Paolo, Brazil.
A memorial service will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church, 2320 Grubb Road, Wilmington, DE 19810 on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 11:30 a.m.

Salas, Jose`
DOVER - Jose` Salas, 62, of Dover, died Saturday, December 23, 2006 in his home.
He was born on March 24, 1944 in Agat, Guam, Jose lived there, and then in San Diego, California, before moving to Dover in 1987.
Mr. Salas served his country proudly in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
He had been employed as a housing inspector for the U.S. Government, for over 20 years in San Diego, Cal. before retiring. After retiring, he worked as an inspector for the U.S. Customs Service for eight years.
Mr. Salas loved antique cars, and was a professional pool player.
He was a member of the Modern Maturity Center, in Dover, and was very active in the catholic community.
He was predeceased by his parents Juan & Delfina Cruz; his brother- George Cruz; his sisters- Maria Castro & Beatrice Kind.
He is survived by his sisters Teresita Curry, of Upper Marlboro, MD.; Rosita Castro, of California; Rosalina Shears, of Tucson, Arizona; Rosalia Charfauros and Isabel Reyes, both living in Guam.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 at 1:00 pm, in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
