Lovena "Lee" Palladino

Age 78, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at the Heartland Hospice House on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 surrounded by her family.

Born in Kentucky, Lee was the daughter of the late Everett and Ethel (Vaughn) Adkins. She worked as a waitress.

She is survived by her sons, Donald and Vincent Palladino, her daughter, Susan Salvatore, five grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

Services will be private for family only. Contributions in Lee's name may be made to the Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Padley, George

George Harold Padley "Toadie" Age 76 of New Castle, DE passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at home, surrounded by family.

Born May 21, 1927 and raised in Old New Castle, George was the son of the late George and Catherine Padley. He served in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge. He fought in World War II and was part of the Seabees who fought in the South Pacific. After his service with the Navy, George worked as an electrician with IBEW #313 for 39 years. George enjoyed walking around Old New Castle and Battery Park and enjoyed talking with the members of the "Senate" at the waterfront in New Castle.

George Padley was predeceased by his former wife, Margaret M. Padley. He will be sadly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Francis Garneski, Jr.; his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Camilla Padley; 2 grandchildren, Celeste Wintermantel and her fianc - š, Chris Rabang and Heather Jackson and her husband, William; 2 nieces, Nancy and Barbara Behringer; and many friends and neighbors.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2003 at 11:30 am at the Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green, 100 Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720. Friends may call Sunday, June 22, 2003 from 4-6 pm at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware St., New Castle. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.

Donations may be made to the Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green at the above address; or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19808.

Doris Faye Pajewski

(Childress)

Age 43, died Monday, August 5, 2002 at her home.

She was loved and will be dearly missed by her family.

Doris was a lifelong homemaker.

She is survived by her mother, Doris Gray of; her sons, Michael Lownes, Brent Pajewski, and Brandon Pajewski; her brothers, Jacki Ray Childress, Jr., Lennie F. Childress, John Gray, Jr., Keith Gray, and Michael Gray; her sister, Mildred Ballard; and her grandmother Mildred McGlinchey.

The service is private.

Edward Stephen Pagano

Age 79, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in New York City, Mr. Pagano was the son of the late Joseph and Vincenza (Tati) Pagano. He began his career as a brick mason at NK Construction and then accepted the position of superintendent for Rizzo, Tober and Agnew. Later, he became self-employed until his retirement. His wife, Mary Ersilia (Panicci) Pagano, predeceased him in 2003.

Mr. Pagano is survived by his son, Stephen Edward Pagano and his wife, Margaret A., and Gary Joseph Pagano; his daughter, Joanne Madeline Pagano; four grandchildren, Terri DiSanto, and Steven, Nicole and Jessica Pagano; and a great granddaughter, Amber DiSanto. Also surviving are his sister, Josephine Corbino and his brother, Joseph Pagano, Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 11 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.

Angelina "Julie" Palermo

Angelina "Julie" Palermo of Pike Creek Valley passed away in her sleep on Sunday, November 16, 2003 surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.

"Grandma Julie" touched many lives with her compassion and tenderness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 24, 1912. She was the only girl in a family with 6 children. She was loved and protected by her brothers. At age 19 she met a boy from her neighborhood named Joseph Palermo. The loving courtship led to their marriage in June of 1932. Her beloved husband of 63 years, Joe passed away in July of 1995.

The children had 2 children, Mary Louise and Frank. She witnessed the marriage of her children, Mary to Simone (Sam) Anbrosino and Frank to Louella. She celebrated the birth of her 8 grandchildren, Salvatore Ambrosino and his wife Maura; Joseph Ambrosino, Rosemarie (Roe) and her husband Lee Davis III, Julie Ann and her husband Charles Malewski, Anthony Ambrosino and his wife Shannon Angela, Joseph and Gregory Palermo; and her great grandchildren, Ckhristine and Alenandra Ambrosino, Charles and Abigail Malewski, Tyler and Matthew Davis, and Aiden Palermo, all loved her dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Maaa of Christian Burial at St. John the Boloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, on Wednesday, November 19 at noon. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Park in Bear, DE. Friends may call at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday, November 18 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.

Kieran J. Quigley

"Spike"

Age 76 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully February 11, 2003.

A lifelong resident of Wilmington's Happy Valley, he worked at Cann Printing and the Pusey & Jones Shipyard. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was a career employee at Joseph Bancroft & Sons.

He is survived by 1 brother; 3 sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Church, Gilpin & N. Union Sts. Wilmington on February 14 at 11 am. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 1900 Delaware Ave. Wilmington on Friday morning from 9-10:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sacred Heart Village c/o the Ministry of Caring, 506 N. Church St. Wilmington, DE 19801.

Quillen, Marjorie W.

Marjorie Walls Quillen, age 81, beloved wife and mother, departed this life on February 28, following a lengthy illness, at Capitol Nursing Home, Dover, DE. Her devoted husband, Harold Quillen was at her side. A lifelong resident of Delaware, she was born in 1923 and grew up in Dover, DE with her mother and father, Roland and Anna Walls; her four sisters; Grace, Amelia, Janet and MaryAnn; and brother, Roland, Jr. She moved to Milford and graduated from Milford High School in 1941. married to Harold Quillen in 1946, they were constant companions, enjoying over 58 years together and raising two children, Ronald and Michele.

She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Smyrna for many years. She served on the Altar Guild, and along with her husband, helped train new acolytes. Mrs. Quillen retired from the Bank of Delaware (now PNC Bank) after 21 years of service. She worked at the Smyrna, Limestone Road, and Odessa offices. At the time of her retirement she was Branch Administrator at the Odessa office. Following retirement, she continued to serve her community as a volunteer at Kent General Hospital for 9 years. She took great pride and joy in her home, family, and her friends. An excellent seamstress, she made clothes, including evening gowns for herself and others. Dancing, singing and traveling were favorite pastimes, which she enjoyed over the years in the company of her husband, family members and friends. Though saddened by her loss, we are comforted knowing that her spirit is now released to "dance" once again.

She is survived by: her husband, Harold T. Quillen of Capitol Nursing Home, Dover, a son, Ronald T. Quillen and his wife Toni of Felton, a daughter, Michele Q. Johnson of Smyrna, Carol Alamares also of Smyrna who was like a daughter to her, three grandchildren, Allyson Quillen, Jesse and Jordan Johnson, two great-grandchildren, three sisters, Amelia Haddaway and her husband Lawrence of Millersville, MD, Janet Barr of Dover, MaryAnn Mykyta and her husband, Lubomyr of Dagsboro, sister-in-law Beatrice Jefferson and her husband Ernest, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who shared many happy times with her throughout the years.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on March 4, 2005, at FARIES FUNERAL HOME, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 9:00 A.M. Internment will be private at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Church, 22 N. Union St., Smyrna, DE 19977.

Quillen, Sr., Robert E

Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Ret) Robert E. Quillen Sr.

Dover - Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Ret) Robert E. Quillen Sr. died Wednesday February 2, 2005 at his home after a long illness. He was 75.

CW4 Quillen was born in Milford Delaware on September 21, 1929, the son of the late James D. and Ethel S. Morris Quillen.

Mr. Quillen began his military career at age sixteen by enlisting in Company B, Delaware State Guard on October 29, 1945. He progressed through the enlisted ranks to the rank of Sergeant and served until the deactivation of the State Guard in September 1946. On June 21, 1948 he enlisted in the Delaware Army National Guard. He progressed through the enlisted rank to the grade of Sergeant First Class and the position of First Sergeant. On December 31, 1961 he was appoint to the rank of Warrant Officer 1 by the Secretary of the Army. For the next twenty-nine years he would hold key in units throughout the Delaware Army National Guard and attain the rank of Chief Warrant Officer IV.

CW4 Quillen began his full-time career as an Army National Guard Full-Time Support Technician on January 1, 1955. During his long Technician career he held the key positions of Administrative Supply Technician, Staff Administrative Assistant, Command Administrative Specialist, Senior Command Administrative Specialist, Command Administrative Assistant, State Recruiting & Retention Manager and State Officer Personnel Readiness Manager. Mr. Quillen retired from the Army National Guard Full-time Support Program after 31 years of service on January 25, 1986, while electing to remain in the Army National Guard as a traditional M-Day Soldier.

On 1 February 1986, he was ordered to active duty and assigned to Headquarters, Delaware Army National Guard where he served as the Overseas Deployment Coordinator until his retirement on September 30, 1990. His retirement would be short lived, as he recalled to active duty for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm on December 5, 1990 with assignment at the Department of Defense Mortuary, Dover AFB, DE as the Army Casualty Reporting Officer serving in that capacity until his re-retirement in April 1991 completing a military career of over 43 years of service.

Of his thirty-two individual military awards and decoration he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal twice and the Delaware Conspicuous Service Cross three times for Heroism.

Mr. Quillen was a life member of the Robbins Hose Company, Dover Fire Department and served the citizens of Dover as a Firefighter, Lieutenant, Third, Second and First Assistant Chief and Deputy Chief. He as a member of the Dover Elks Lodge B.P.O.E 1903; Walter L. Fox American Legion Post 2 and a member of the Masonic Union Lodge #7 were he was a Master Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and a Thirty-second Degree Mason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother in law Vernon Carrow; sister in laws Francis Carrow Pyatt and her husband Donald Pyatt of Little Creek, and Dorothy Carrow of Lewes.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years Jean Carrow Quillen of Dover; two sons Robert E Quillen Jr. of Denton, MD; Major James L. Quillen USA (Ret) of Magnolia; three granddaughters Veronica L. and Jamie L. Quillen of Milford; La Dawn H. Lemley of Dover; two great grandchildren. His brother in laws Warren F. Carrow of Dover, Charles L Carrow and his wife Michele of Smyrna; his sister in law Hester S. Carrow and her life time companion James E. Clark of Little Creek. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Sunday February 6 between 1-3 p.m. at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover. The Elk and Masonic services will be held at this time.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday February 7 at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover where friends may call from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Burial will be in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Dover with full military honors.

Flowers are optional or contributions can be made to the American Lung Association of Delaware or the American Diabetes Association of Delaware.
