Martina Mary (Quinn) Quill

Passed away serenely on February 4, 2008 with her devoted family at her side following a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Martina was born in Wilmington on January 30, 1934. She was preceded in death by her parents, James A. and Theresa Desmond Quinn. The youngest of five children, Martina graduated from St. Elizabeth's Grammar and High School. She received a bachelors degree in elementary education in 1957 from Immaculata University, Frazier, PA. Upon graduation she taught second grade in the Wilmington School District.

Martina's greatest loves were her family, church and her "Irishness." Martina delighted in the raising of six children. She gave them a wonderful sense of what is important in life. She was a devout Catholic attending daily Mass. Martina found joy in helping others, she volunteered for the Junior Board of Christiana Care, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and enjoyed her work at the McDonald's LPGA Championship for many years. Martina cherished the camaraderie of playing golf with the nine hole ladies group at Wilmington Country Club. In addition to the Wilmington Country Club, she was a member of the Vicmead Hunt Club, Kings Creek Country Club, Rehoboth Beach Country Club, and Henlopen Acres Beach Club.

Martina is survived by her husband of fifty years, Leonard; their children, Martina and Michael Scarrone of Rumson, NJ, Teresa and John Pfeifle of Wilmington, DE, Katherine Quill and Christopher DiPersio of Wilmington, DE, Timothy and Lisa Quill of Los Angeles, CA, Leonard and Denise Quill of Wilmington, DE, and James and Laura Quill of Tiburron, CA. Her beautiful and always loving grandchildren also mourn her loss, Claire, Mary, Kathleen, and Elizabeth Scarrone, Tess and Grace Pfeifle, Timothy Quill, Matthew Drupieski, Leonard, Erin, and Brendan Quill, Andrew, Caroline, Peter and Caitlin Quill. Martina is also survived by a sister, Eileen Hemphill and her husband Jack. She was preceded in death by her brother James Quinn and her sisters Tecy Quinn and Rita Szymanski. The family would also like to extend a special thank you for Ruth Massas who cared so deeply for their wife, mother, and Gammy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Cedar St., Wilmington on Friday, February 8th at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call at church on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Greenville, DE.

Quillen, Cecile Marie

BERLIN -- Cecile Marie Quillen, 66, of Berlin died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Atlantic General Hospital.

Born in Berlin, she was a daughter of the late Robert J. Quillen and Frances M. Joseph Quillen Hudson.

She is survived by a brother, Robert Quillen of Lebanon, Mo.; and four sisters, Beatrice Frisch of Pittsville, Brenda Stewart of Georgetown, Margaret Pusey of Seaford and Rose Horner of Berlin. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, J. Winamore Hudson in 2006; and a brother, Thomas Quillen in 1991.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville. Pastor Phillip Timmons will officiate. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery in Whaleyville. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Helen D Quinn

Of Wilmington, DE, age 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 9, 2009. Born in Wilmington, DE, the daughter of the late Leonard and Marguerite Donohoe. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas V. Quinn and her brother Bernard Donahue.

Left to cherish her memory and share her stories are her children: Thomas V. Quinn and his wife Kathleen, Karen Stunson and her husband Keith, Regina Quinn, Patricia (Patti) Ford and her husband Charles (Chip), Kevin Quinn and his wife Kelley, Michael Quinn and Sean Quinn and his girlfriend, Kelly. Her Grandchildren: Kristin, Brian and his wife Elsa, Katie, Ryan and her husband Michael, Burke, Rory, Morgan and her husband Andrew, Shannon, Colleen, Blakely, and Great Grandchildren: Christian, Dillon, Nathanale.

Retired from the Delaware Motor Vehicle, Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Helen loved nothing more than her family, long days on the beach, and a good cup of coffee.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, June 12th at Christ Our King Church, 28th and Madison Streets, Wilmington, DE where visitation will begin at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

Angelina R. Quattrociocchi

died peacefully surrounded by her family at Churchman's Village on Wednesday, March 10, 2004.

Angelina was born, raised, and spent her entire life in the town of New Castle. She was a lifelong member of the St. Peter R.C. Church in New Castle. She was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. Angelina enjoyed walking.

Angelina was the daughter of the late Ferdiando and Maria (Marcozzi) Tritelli. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Quattrociocchi, who died in 1966, and her daughter, Marie Wilson, who died in 2001. She is survived by her children, Lawrence, and his wife, Elisa, Fred, and his wife Josephine, of Wilmington, Anthony, Virginia Dennis, and Victoria Thawley, all of New Castle; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Elvera, Regina, Elizabeth, Mary, Clara, Polly, and her sister-in-law, Julia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter R. C. Church, New Castle, on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Krienen Funeral Home, 34 West 6th Street, New Castle, on Sunday evening, March 14 from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Peter Church Cemetery.

Walter A. Zak

Age 85, of Stanton, DE, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 26, 2008.

Born in Mocanaqua, PA on April 21, 1922, he was one of ten children of the late George and Dorota Zak. During World War II, he proudly served his country in the US Army as a PFC in Headquarters Company, 15th Infantry, Camp Campbell, KY. After moving to Wilmington in the 1950's, he worked in Soft Trim at General Motors, retiring in 1982 after 30 years of service. He was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting coins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Jean, in 1998. He will be missed by his loving daughter, Jane, at home; a sister, Mary Zanca of Passaic, NJ and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice Services for the outstanding care they provided during this time, with a special thanks to LoLisa, Betty and Kim for their kindness and support.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, January 30th between 10 and 11 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington, where a prayer service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice, Inc., 261 Chapman Road #100, Newark, DE 19711.

Zacovic, Linda J.

Linda J. Zacovic of Dover, died Thursday, July 19, 2007 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 66.

She was born on September 24, 1940 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

Linda had worked as a secretary in the Capital School District Office until 2002 when illness forced her retirement.

Linda was a member of the Elks Lodge #19 and a member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed flower gardening and loved the event of traveling.

Linda is preceded in death by her father James Zacovic.

She is survived by her mother Mildred Zacovic of Chesapeake City, MD, former husband Richard Martin of Lewes, a son Richard Martin of Milton, a daughter Deborah Guelette and her husband Richard of Hartly, a sister Joyce Peters and her husband Donald of Loudon, TN grandchildren Johathan McGuire of Felton, Christopher Martin of Dover, Sarah Martin of Dover, Taylor Guelette of Hartly, a great grandson Jin McGuire, and long time friend Ronald Melville of Hartly.

Linda's life will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007 in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where the family will begin receiving friends at 4:00 p.m.

The Rev. Patti Collett will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Wyoming United Methodist Church Building Fund, 109 Broad St., Wyoming, DE 19934.

Zehring, Charles D.

Charles D. Zehring of Dover, Delaware, died at home Sunday May 6, 2007.

He was 81.

Mr. Zehring was born December 12, 1925 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William H. and Ella Barr Zehring.

Mr. Zehring worked as a maintenance supervisor for the State of Delaware for several years before retirement.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing and horse racing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Zehring; two sisters, Alice Good and Anita Krout and his loving dog, Doby.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret O'Neal Zehring; three sons, Daniel Cox and his wife, Karin of Dover, Dennis Cox and his wife, Bobbie of Harrington, Delaware and Charles Zehring Jr of Lebanon; two daughters, Diane Willey and her husband, Jesse of Dover and Bonnie Zehring of Lebanon; three brothers, Ed Zehring and his wife, Edie of Lebanon, Mark Zehring of Lebanon and Martin Zehring of Jupiter, Florida; two sisters, Josephine Heilman and her husband, Robert and Mary Ann Gettle all of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Brian Cox, Nicole Cox, Ashleigh Cox, Jack Cox, Jaime Willey, Kristopher Willey, Amy Doughty and Amanda Rinaldi and eleven great grandchildren, Kyle, Alexis, Destiny, David, Noah, Jordan, Michael, Alexis, Zachary, Abby and Jacob.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Mr. Zehring's caregivers from VITAS Hospice.

Services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to your favorite charity.
