Blevins, Dorothy A.

Dorothy A. Blevins of Clayton, Delaware died on Wednesday February 24, 2010 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.

She was 75.

Mrs. Blevins was born December 18, 1934 in New York, New York the daughter of the late Constance Beisner.

Mrs. Blevins worked as a Secretary for the Delaware National Guard for many years.

She enjoyed camping at Homestead Campground in Georgetown, Delaware with her family and loved on-line shopping.

Mrs. Blevins is survived by three daughters, Denise J. Blevins of Dover, Teresa A. Cochran and her husband Norman of Newark, Delaware, and Barbara A. Eastburn and her husband Steve of Townsend, Delaware; a son, Joseph R. Blevins and his wife Ada of Clayton with whom she lived with; two brothers, Gus Casey and his wife Bonnie of Florida, and Douglas Beisner of Smyrna, Delaware; and ten granddaughters.

Mrs. Blevins family appreciates the care and support that she received from FMC Dialysis of Georgetown, Smyrna, and Milford.

Memorial services will be held Monday March 1, 2010 at 7pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel located on 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call at 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 625 West Ridge Pike Suite A100 Conshohocken, PA 19428.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Hyland, Michael David

Michael David Hyland of Smyrna, DE died on Wednesday September 15, 2010.

Services and burial will be private.

Albia, Anna DiRocco

Anna DiRocco Albia of Clayton, DE passed away on Thursday August 5, 2010 in Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE.

She was 84.

Mrs. Albia was born June 5, 1926 in Belleville, NJ the daughter of the late Dominick DiRocco and Josephine Cieri DiRocco-Porpora.

She retired after 30 years of service as a School Teacher in the Smyrna School District.

Mrs. Albia was a Charter Member and Life Member of the Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a Member of the VFW Post 8801 Ladies Auxiliary in Smyrna, DE.

She loved watching game shows, especially Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. She watched the Lawrence Welk Show faithfully and enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas G. Albia, Sr. in 2002; and two brothers, Phil DiRocco and John DiRocco.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanna Albia and Mary Anne Albia, both of Clayton; a son, Nicholas G. Albia, Jr. and wife Frances of Millington, MD; granddaughter, Stacy Nau and her husband Nicholas of Worton, MD; grandson, Nicholas G. Albia, III of Millington, MD; a sister, Philomena Tribbitt of Marydel, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday August 11, 2010 at 11 am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, DE where friends and family may call Tuesday evening August 10, 2010 from 7-9 PM.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery Dover, DE.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Clayton Fire Company Building Fund, PO Box 1050 Clayton, DE 19938, or to the American Legion Ambulance Service Building Fund, 111 West Glenwood Ave, Smyrna, DE 1997.

Hobson, Hilda R.

Hilda R. Hobson (nee Lockerman) of Smyrna, DE died on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the age of 95.

She was the wife of the late Harold E. Hobson; and sister to the late Hazel Lockerman, Elsie Warren, Elizabeth Lockerman, and John Lockerman.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Hilda retired from Smith Douglas in 1980.

Hilda requested her graveside services be privately held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, PO Box 330, Smyrna, DE 19977.

Coleman, Dandre D.

Dandre D. "Bobby" Coleman "Uncle Sponge-Bob" of Smyrna, DE died on Monday April 5, 2010 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.

He was 38.

Bobby was born May 31, 1971 in Vossburg, Mississippi, the son of Billie Joe Mays and Joyce Marie Coleman Williams both of Jasper, Texas.

He served honorably during the Persian Gulf War in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Coleman retired from the Delaware Department of Corrections after 13 years of service as a Correctional Officer.

Uncle Sponge Bob's hobbies included playing football, barbequing for the family, and spending time with his children and being active with their activities. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending church and listening to gospel music and old school music. Bobby was a good conversationalist and listener and enjoyed going to family events and plays with his wife. He loved to laugh and loved a good joke and was known to have several knick-names for his family and friends like, "27 and Holding, Baby Girl, Big-Poppa, J-Broski, Big-Mike, Yay-Yay, Young Man, and Young Lady".

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Annabelle Coleman.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 18 years, Janeen A. Coleman; 4 children, Johnathan L. Coleman, Amir D. Coleman, Amari R. Coleman, all of Smyrna, and Jordan X. Coleman of Cheswold, DE; 3 brothers, Aurelious Rod Crosley, Willie J. Williams, and Christopher J. Kyles, all of Jasper; 4 sisters, Sylvia Marie Coleman, and Stephanie Young, both of Jasper, and Denise Brooks and Davina Aldridge, both of Dover, DE; a grandmother, Lula Mae Grant of Jasper; a father and mother-in-law, William and Betty Brooks of Dover; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, cousins, and special friends.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 6-8pm and on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 9-10am in the Faries Funeral Chapel located on 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10am following the second viewing.

A private interment will be scheduled at a later date.

Jean, Russell W.

Air Force

Russell W. Jean of Smyrna, DE passed away on Monday June 28, 2010 at home.

He was 78.

Mr. Jean was born April 19, 1932 in Hermansville, MI the son of the late Alphonse Jean and Rose Trudell Jean.

He retired as a Maintenance Scheduler after many years as both an active duty member and as a civil service employee for the United States Air Force.

He was a life member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 in Dover, DE and the VFW Post 3238 in Camden, DE.

Mr. Jean enjoyed building radio controlled airplanes, and previously enjoyed his time casually flying as a private pilot, commercial pilot, and a multiengine pilot.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and LeRoy.

He is survived by his wife, Merle P. Jean; two sons, Russell W. Jean, Jr. of Lima, Peru, and Ralph E. Jean of Malvern, PA; a brother, Thomas Jean of Kentucky; two sisters, Margaret Ashby of Wisconsin, and Elaine Sterling of Michigan; and three grandsons, Eddie, Pete, and Scott.

Funeral Services will be offered Friday July 2, 2010 at 10am in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE, with burial immediately following.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702B Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, DE 19805.
