Gomeringer, LeRoy

LeRoy Gomeringer of Smyrna, Delaware passed away at Kent General Hospital on Saturday May 1, 2010.

He was 92.

Mr. Gomeringer was born April 26, 1918 in Pennsgrove, New Jersey.

He worked as a Chemical Operator for 40 years with DuPont, of which the majority of that time was with the TEL Plant in Deepwater, New Jersey.

He loved hunting and deep sea fishing and was a member of the Quinton shooting range in Salem, New Jersey where he enjoyed reloading his own rifle shells.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2002.

He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Gomeringer of Lakeland, Florida and Kenneth W. Gomeringer of Millersville, Maryland; a daughter, Diane Organ of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 2 brothers; 6 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday May 6, 2010 at 12 noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call at 11am.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720, or to the American Lung Association 1021 Gilpin Ave. Suite 202, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Caldwell, Shirley Ann

Shirley Ann Caldwell of Smyrna, Delaware passed away Sunday March 7, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was 70.

Mrs. Caldwell was born March 27, 1939 in Smyrna, Delaware the daughter of the late Fred T. Lawrence and Mary Elizabeth Morris.

Shirley worked for Wrotten & Pratt Insurance for a number of years after graduating from Smyrna High School then worked for over 20 years at the Clayton Bank and Trust.

She also loved working part time as a substitute teacher for the Smyrna School District.

Shirley liked to crochet, knit and enjoyed embroidering.

She loved to cook and to have family functions.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and was known to treat everyone she met as a part of her family.

She loved her dog Starbaby and cats Squeaker and Cricket.

Shirley and her husband loved watching the squirrels and birds together.

She was a very outgoing person and was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Roy W. Caldwell, Sr.; a daughter, Linda Jo Ann Cain and her husband Gary of Smyrna; two sons, Roy W. Caldwell, Jr. and his wife Ann of Clayton and Alan Lee Caldwell and his wife Melissa of Smyrna; two brothers, Freddy T. Lawrence, Jr. and his wife Shari of Dover and John E. Lawrence, Sr. and his wife Fay of Townsend; a sister, Mary "Sis" E. Shane and her husband Donald of Smyrna; Grandchildren, Roy Caldwell, III, Nina Boyles, Stephen Galloway, Amber Caldwell, Austin Caldwell, Ann Marie Cruz, Diana Janeka, and John Boyles, Jr.; 6 great grandchildren; and lifelong friends, James and Alice Hart.

Services will be Thursday March 11, 2010 at 1pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call two hours prior to the services.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park Dover, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to defray funeral expenses.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Yochis, Charles J.

Army

Charles J. "Chuck" Yochis of Clayton, DE, passed away Monday February 22, 2010 in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital from complications of liver disease.

He was 62.

Chuck was born March 19, 1947 the son of the late Charles and Stella Yochis.

He worked in the maintenance department of Sam's Club in Dover, DE for several years before retirement.

Chuck served in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion David C. Harrison Post #14 in Smyrna, DE.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, both fresh and salt water, and a member of the NRA.

Chuck enjoyed camping and spent a lot of time on Octoraro Lake in Oxford, PA where he won several bass fishing tournaments.

He also enjoyed the beach, vegetable gardening and shooting pool.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Patricia Abrams Yochis; two sons, Thomas McNeal and his fiancee, Rosemary Bryan of Townsend, DE and Joseph Yochis and his wife, Amy of Millsboro, DE; a sister, Eileen Gentchas and her husband, Frank of Woodlyn, PA and his grandchildren, Jamy, Dylan and Michael Yochis and Lauren Rose McNeal.

Memorial services will be Saturday February 27, 2010 at 11am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be private.

Waterfield, William C.
National Guard

William C. Waterfield of Smyrna, Delaware passed away on Friday August 6, 2010 at Chester River Manor in Chestertown, Maryland.

He was 65.

Mr. Waterfield was born March 31, 1944 Warsaw, Virginia the son of the late Herbert and Margaret Waterfield.

He worked for the VA Medical Center in Elsmere, Delaware for many years and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Waterfield enjoyed his time in the military and working on his garden and flower beds.

He liked collecting things of all kinds with an eagle on it, enjoyed working on old cars, enjoyed cooking, and watching TV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Diane Waterfield in June earlier this year; a brother, Oliver Waterfield; and two sisters, Sherry Waterfield and Nancy Tibual.

He is survived by a son, Robert L. Waterfield of Smyrna; a brother, Marshall Waterfield of Florida; a sister, Peggy Waterfield of Florida; and extended family members.

Funeral services will be Thursday August 12, 2010 at 11:30 PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware.

Dougherty, Reah S.

Navy

Reah S. Dougherty of Smyrna, DE passed away at home on Monday, October 11, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.

At the request of the family, graveside services will be held privately at the family plot in Greensboro Cemetery in Greensboro, MD later this week.

Gregory, Janet Lee

Janet Lee Gregory of Smyrna, DE died at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE on Monday, October 11, 2010.

She was 69.

Mrs. Gregory was born March 23, 1941 in Wilmington, DE, the daughter of the late John Adams and Viola Wallace Adams.

She enjoyed being with people, trips to the beach, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Tulowitzki; and a brother, Jon Adams.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur L. Gregory; a son, William C. Wakeling; three daughters, Bonnie L. Jenkins and her husband Ryland, Deborah Morgan, and Joanne Keller; 5 brothers, Charles, Joseph, Edward, Shawn, and Matt Andrews, 3 sisters, Joanne Tulowitzki, Linda Foster, and Beverly Atwood; 4 grandchildren, Jenifer, Paul, Jeremy, and Jason; and two great granddaughters, Alexis and Kristen.

Services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 7 pm in the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church located on 4519 S. DuPont Pkwy in Townsend, DE, where friends may call from 5 to 7 pm.

Burial services will be private.
