Edward F. Virdin

Edward "Ed" F. Virdin, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010. He was 84.

He was born on November 7, 1925, in Hartly, DE., son of the late Olin Sr. and Nettie Artis Virdin.

Mr. Virdin retired from Playtex. He enjoyed fishing, working in his garden, spending time with his family, friends and his beloved dog, Tammy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Virdin; five brothers Artis, Olin "Buck, " Wilton "Jett, " Russell, and Medford Virdin; and five sisters, Virginia Webb, F. Eileen Moor, Marian Blockiston, Pauline Gooden and Beatrice Hubbard.

Mr. Virdin is survived by his family, Debra, Michael, Julie and Scott Walls of Dover; Richard, Joyce, Hilary, and Lauren Webb of Harrington; Robert and Deborah Webb of Georgetown; and Jessica and Jay Baxter of Georgetown.

Friends may call one hour prior to services. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 26 at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St. Dover. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, DE.

WILLIAM M. MILLMAN "ICKLE"

William M. "Pickle" Millman of Smyrna, age 78 died on Friday on October 1, 2010 at Pinnacle Rehab and Health Care Center near Smyrna.

He was born in Camden, Delaware on March 5, 1932 to the late Alfred C. and Olive Dodd Millman.

Pickle work for Carl King Oil Co. for over 40 years as a truck driver.

He also work for Harrington and Dover Downs Racetrack and he had a love being around horses.

He was a life member of the Camden-Wyoming Vol. Fire Co. for over 40 years.

He preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen Cox Millman in 1999.

Survived by his daughter and son in law Vickie and Robert Sterkenburg of Wilmington, Delaware.

Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the Trader Funeral Home Inc., 12 Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday morning at 11 am in the funeral home.

Rev. Milton Kemp will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, De.

In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Camden-Wyoming Vol. Fire Co. Camden, Delaware 19934

Carlton Lee Hutchins “Hutch”

Of Camden, DE, went home to be with his Lord and Master on Monday, September 13, 2010 after a massive brain hemorrhage. He was 86.

Carlton was born March 26, 1924 in his childhood home which was located on what is now Dover Air Force Base. He was the son of the late Emmett H Hutchins and Florence E. Willis Hutchins. He attended the one room Rose Valley Grade School graduating from Dover High.

After high school he served in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1948 on the carrier USS Independence and the destroyer USS McCaffery in the South Pacific and South China Seas. He was blown out of his gun bucket when the USS Independence was torpedoed at Tarawa.

Following his Navy service, Hutch worked briefly as a butcher for A&P; Food Store in Dover; for ten years as a Credit Manager for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Dover; and for three years as a customer rep for International Playtex. At that point he began his lifelong career as an agent for the State Farm Insurance Companies and retired December 31, 1985 after 25 years of service.

Mr. Hutchins was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Dover, Delaware and served as Moderator, Chairman of various Boards and Committees including the Board of Deacons, the Board of Missions, Search Committee, Youth Work, and Capital Funds Drive, which raised over two million dollars for the construction of the church located on Walker Road. At different times he was active in the choir and the hospital visitation ministry. He was recently recognized as a Deacon Emeritus. He was instrumental in the founding of Christ Memorial Baptist Church, a satellite church Of First Baptist. He was a member of the Gideons, a testimony speaker, and active in their prison ministry, and was Chaplain for the USS Independence reunion group.

In addition to his church involvement, Carlton was a lifetime member and past president of Dover Lions Club and a lifetime member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Carlton was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His love, care, devotion, dedication and generosity to his family were unsurpassed. His adherence to the principles of his Christian faith in his daily life made him an awesome mentor for both family and friends. He truly was a man of God and a first class spiritual businessman.

In July 1949 Carlton married Amelia Chasey of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; following Amelia’s death in 1995 Carlton married Leona Heaps Kelley of Newark, Delaware.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Willis, Norman and James; as well as two sisters, Evelyn E. Cameron and Gladys S. Felix.

He is survived by Leona, his wife of 14 years; four daughters, Martha Pfeiffer and her husband Paul, Mary George and her husband Charles (Chuck), Darlene Richardson and her husband Eric, and Carol Campbell and her husband James (Jay); one son, John T. Kelley, Jr.; six grandchildren, Sherri, Rebecca and Charles George, Amber Kelley, DiAnita White and her husband James, Joshua VanArsdall and his wife Jackie, and Kelley Campbell; four great grandchildren, Penelope and Gabriel White, Michael and Joshua VanArsdall; and two brothers, Homer Hutchins and wife, Thelma and Gilbert Hutchins and wife, Gladys; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17 between 5 pm and 8 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 am Saturday, September 18. Both will be held at First Baptist Church, 301 Walker Road, Dover.

Internment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, N. State Street, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideons International, Kent South Camp, P.O. Box 56, Harrington, DE 19952.

McNabola, Breda Bridget

Breda (Bridget) McNabola of Dover peacefully passed away on March 18, 2010. Born in Foynes County Limerick, Ireland to the late Bridget and William O'Conner. She was preceded in death by a sister Kay Bennis and brother Liam O'Conner. She is survived by; her loving husband of 28 years, Anthony, daughter Heather of Chicago, son Keith and daughter in-law Erika and grand-daughters Carmen and Leila McNabola. Breda's surviving siblings are Helen and Jimmy Culhane, Anna and James O'Donovan, Imelda and Phillip Daly, and Patricia and Philip Rogers, brother in-law John Bennis, sister in-law Kathleen and husband Denis Griffin of Tralee, Ireland. Condolences to her nieces and nephews. Cremation and Memorial Service arraignments will be provided by Trader Funeral Home. Friends may call Monday March 22, 2010 from 11 AM to 2 PM at Trader Funeral Home 12 Lotus Street Dover, DE. Services will be held at 2 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Park, Adeline A.

Adeline A. Park, 78, passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving children Saturday August 07, 2010 at Delaware Hospice Center Milford.

She was born on October 22, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA at St. Clemmons to the late George and Mary Shields Heaps. She moved to Delaware in 1954 with her husband.

She partnered in running the family business as a bookkeeper and secretary for over 35 years. She enjoyed travel, sports (her Philly teams), watching movies and was an avid reader. She will best be remembered for her infectious giggles, relentless strength, endless devotion and over abundance of love she shared with her family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Rex Park, Sr. of 55 years in 2009, and her brother George Heaps.

She is survived by Son and his wife, Eugene R. and Diana Park, Jr. of Felton, DE. Daughter and her husband, Patricia and Joseph Zielen of Viola, DE. Daughter and her husband, Sandra and Mark Griffiah of Dover, DE. Sister, Betty Minnick of Swarthmore, PA. Sister in Law, Eleanor Deaver of Deaver, PA. Sister in Law, Naomi Wiedman of, TN. 8, Grandchildren, 8, Great grand children, 5, grand puppies.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 08/13/2010 1 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Sharon Hill Memorial Park Dover, DE

Everett, Eve Lynn

Eve Lynn Everett, 92, Sudlersville Road, Clayton, passed away Wednesday July 07, 2010 at her home surrounded by family in Clayton.

She was born on January 08, 1918 in Porta Down (County Armagh) Ireland to the late Thomas and Della Platt.

Eve was a graduate of Madison College (now James Madison University). She was a elementary school teacher for 30 years in the Smyrna School Dist. Upon retirement Eve loved to spend time with family and friends. She loved to cook, bird watching, and an avid reader. Eve also shared in her family's love of animals and helped raise many litters of dogs. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Robert L. Everett and her son Robert L. Everett, II.

She is survived by Daughter, Martha Lynn Everett of Clayton, DE. Sister in Law, Louise Everett of Clayton, DE. Nephew and his wife, Charles and Renee Everett of Clayton, DE. Nephew and his wife, Chad and Lee Everett of Clayton, DE. Niece and her husband, Teri Lou and Bruce Timmons of Clayton, DE. 1, Great Nephew, 4, Grand Nieces, and her four footed friends, Lyndy, Clayton, Dixie, Chloe'.

Remembrance Services will be held Sunday 07/11/2010 2 PM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Sudlersville Cem. Sudlersville, MD
